East Tāmaki

Otara Hill (also Te Puke o Tara or Smales Mount) is one of the volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic field. Its scoria cone reached 89 m above sea level (around 59 m higher than the surrounding land) before it was quarried away. The hill was the site of a pā named “Te Puke Ō Tara” meaning ‘hill belonging to Tara’, who was a Ngāi Tai Rangatira (or Māori Chief) of the area. Like many Auckland volcanoes, Otara Hill has a notable tuff ring. It is located between Green Hill and Hampton Park.Green Hill and Otara Hill were together referred to as Bessy Bell and Mary Gray after an old Scottish ballad.

Hampton Park is one of the volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic field. A small scoria cone reaching 35 metres (114 ft 10 in) above sea level, with a shallow crater around 50 metres (164 ft 1 in) wide, which has been modified by quarrying. The scoria cone sits in the centre of a much larger explosion crater, the eastern arc of the surrounding tuff ring is still present. Stone from the volcano was used to build dry-stone walls and the nearby St John's Church built on the tuff ring crest.

Greenmount is a small suburb located in the city of Auckland, in the North Island of New Zealand. The area is on the eastern side of the Auckland city centre and is a large industrial area developed only in recent years. The area is under governance of the Auckland Council, and is home to a number of New Zealand and international businesses and organisations. It is named after the Greenmount or Green Hill volcano.

Green Hill (also Matanginui or Greenmount) is one of the volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic field, located in the suburb of Greenmount. It erupted approximately 20,000 years ago, and its scoria cone had a peak 78 metres above sea level (around 48 m higher than the surrounding land) and had a grove of karaka trees. The hill was the site of a Ngāi Tai iwi pā. It was quarried from 1870 onwards, and has been mostly quarried away. The site is now Greenmount landfill. Green Hill and nearby Otara Hill were together referred to as Bessy Bell and Mary Gray after an old Scottish ballad.

Sancta Maria College is a co-ed Catholic School in Auckland, New Zealand. It is named after the schooner on which Bishop Pompallier travelled around New Zealand.

The Fo Guang Shan Temple of Auckland is a temple and community centre of the Fo Guang Shan Chinese Buddhist movement in the East Tāmaki/Flat Bush suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. The temple and complex were built over seven years. It was designed in the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. The temple also includes a large Buddha statue and a two-tonne bell.Opened in late 2007, the mission of the new temple is to promote Humanistic Buddhism. But it is also intended to benefit (and is open to) non-Buddhists, "through education and teaching people how to lead good lives." Even before its official opening, the temple had provided community courses such as Chinese calligraphy, Chinese language, yoga and martial arts, as well as providing a venue for crime prevention talks and meetings.

Styaks Swamp is one of the volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic field. It erupted approximately 19,600 years ago and formed an explosion crater around 200 metres (660 ft) wide with a surrounding tuff ring. It is located north of Green Hill. The crater once contained a swamp but is now covered by industrial development.

Barry Curtis Park is a park named after Barry Curtis in Flat Bush, Manukau City of which the first stage was opened in April 2009. At 94 hectares (230 acres), it is one of New Zealand's largest parks, of a size as has not been established since the Auckland Domain in the 1840s.The park is currently (2010) only half-completed, with an investment of $17 million (as of 2009) having gone in the sections that are already open or are still being formed and landscaped. Completion is expected around 2022, while the new suburb grows around it. The park was created from a part of a large parcel of dairy farming land the Manukau City Council bought from the Anglican Church Trust Board, at $2.9 million for 290 hectares (720 acres) total.The park is the central piece of a 'Green fingers' network of parks that is being established (mostly aligned along around 45 km of streams and creeks draining the Flat Bush catchment). The ecological system involved consultation with groups such as Forest & Bird and the Auckland Regional Council. The water systems also work as stormwater ponds, and have been fitted with fish ladders to ensure connected water habitats.The park (in the already established section) also includes event spaces and large playgrounds for children, with a multi-sports centre, playing fields to be added in the future. The park is to establish a network of educational trails in addition to the main routes.The park received an 'Outstanding Award' from the New Zealand Recreation Association, as well as three awards from the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (Gold: Barry Curtis Park Wetland Playground (at Stancombe Road), Silver: Barry Curtis Park Signature Areas design, Silver: Barry Curtis Park Project Management).

Huntington Park is an eastern suburb of the city of Auckland, New Zealand. The area is bounded on the north by Ti Rakau Drive, on the east by Te Irirangi Drive, and to the south and west by the Greenmount Drainage Reserve. The area is called Greenmount on some maps. The northeast corner contains The Hub shopping mall. Most of the houses were built in the 1990s. Even in 1998, the area was rural.The Guy family farmed in the area for 40 years from the late 19th century. The Guy homestead, built in 1898, was badly damaged by a suspected arson in 2012. The house was later restored.The Hub Botany shopping centre opened in Huntington Park in 2001. It has 200 stores, including a Countdown supermarket.

Ormiston Town Centre is a large shopping centre located in the Auckland suburb of Flat Bush (also known as Ormiston) in New Zealand. The centre was developed by Todd Property Group in partnership with Panuku Development Auckland and was officially opened in March 2021.The area is adjacent to Barry Curtis Park, and Te Irirangi Drive.

Flat Bush (also known as Ormiston or Flatbush) is a southeastern suburb in the city of Auckland, New Zealand. It has recently become one of the city's largest new planned towns after being developed as a rural area of Auckland for several decades. Located near Manukau Heights, plans for substantial expansion began under the Manukau City Council - having bought 290 hectares in the area in 1996.As of 2022, substantial residential development means the area has grown to over 34,000 people, a similar population to Nelson, and includes a newly-opened shopping mall - Ormiston Town Centre.

Botany Town Centre is a large shopping mall and lifestyle centre located in Auckland, New Zealand. It has more than 200 stores spread across three complexes, including restaurants and entertainment buildings such as cinemas. It is situated at the corner of Ti Rakau Drive and Chapel Road in the suburb of East Tāmaki, and was opened in 2001.The centre has faced competition since the 2006 opening of the nearby Sylvia Park shopping centre in Mount Wellington, which was built as an enclosed mall. However, Botany Town Centre sees its town centre format as its strength, and considers that elements such as doctors' premises and a library make Botany more attractive.
