Horseshoe Lake is a small lake in Burley, Washington, a census-designated place roughly ten miles south of the city of Port Orchard in Kitsap County. Named for its horseshoe shape, the lake covers just over 40 acres and has an average depth of 12 feet. The lake has no outlet, but is fed by surrounding wetlands north of the lake. The lake is less than a mile from the Pierce County border. Less than fifty properties surround the lake on Sidney Road SW to the west, SW Lake Street, and Horseshoe Avenue SW, both to the east. The nearby Horseshoe Lake Golf Course is named for the lake. Horseshoe Lake County Park is located at the southwest corner of the lake, and has walking trails, restrooms, a playground, a boardwalk, and a ball field. The park is among the top five swimming destinations in Kitsap County according to the Kitsap Public Health District, and like all county lake swimming beaches, Horseshoe Lake has free life jacket loaning stations for children. There are several fish species at the lake, including bluegill, largemouth bass, pumpkinseed sunfish, and rainbow trout. The lake has a history of blue-green algae blooms and elevated E. coli bacteria levels, and is occasionally closed to swimmers and fishermen, especially during summer months. The Kitsap Public Health District attributes high bacteria levels to high use of the park and a lack of an outlet to circulate water. In 1960, seventy acres of land that include the southeast corner of Horseshoe Lake were purchased by Crista Camps, an organization that operates a Christian summer camp and ranch that serves 12,000 campers a year. In 2021, a 20-acre brush fire near the lake prompted a response from five local fire agencies and the Washington Department of Natural Resources. One person received minor injuries, but no damage to structures were reported from the fire, which burned for several days.

Burley is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is located just north of the boundary with Pierce County, about halfway between Gig Harbor to the south and Port Orchard to the north. It is located at the head of the Burley Lagoon in Henderson Bay. Burley is a residential area. The community's population stood at 2,057 at the 2010 census.

Burley Lagoon is a picturesque 358-acre (1.45 km2) watershed located on the Key Peninsula in the U.S. state of Washington. The Purdy Bridge and Purdy Sand Spit separate Burley Lagoon from Henderson Bay at the northern end of Carr Inlet. The unincorporated communities of Burley, Washington and Purdy, Washington rest on the shores of Burley Lagoon. Approximately sixty percent of the lagoon (marine waters) is in Pierce County, Washington and forty percent in Kitsap County, Washington. The percentages in each county are reversed for the watershed uplands. All of the commercial shellfish acreage, which is owned by Western Oyster Company, is in Pierce County. Historically rural, the lagoon is experiencing rapid growth as more people move to the area.

Purdy is a small unincorporated community and census-designated place north of the city of Gig Harbor, and at the junction of Washington State Routes 16 and 302 on the northern boundary of Pierce County, Washington.Purdy is on the shores of Burley Lagoon and Henderson Bay at the northern end of Carr Inlet in Puget Sound. The lagoon and bay are separated by a sandspit and the Purdy Bridge. The Washington Corrections Center for Women, originally named the Purdy Treatment Center, is colloquially referred to as "Purdy", though it has a Gig Harbor address. As of the 2010 US Census, Purdy had a population of 1544.

The Purdy Bridge is a continuous reinforced concrete box girder bridge that spans 550 feet (170 m), with a central span of 190 feet (58 m), between Henderson Bay and Burley Lagoon. The bridge connects Purdy, Washington with the Purdy Sand Spit Park and Wauna, Washington. Purdy Bridge was completed on September 29, 1937, at a cost of $62,000, from a design by Homer M. Hadley. It was the first bridge in the United States to utilize a reinforced-concrete box girder design and it was the longest continuous box girder bridge in the United States at the time.The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Union River is a stream in the U.S. state of Washington. It originates in central Kitsap Peninsula and flows south, emptying into the end of Hood Canal. The Union River Reservoir provides drinking water for the nearby city of Bremerton.

Peninsula High School is a public high school on a hill overlooking Henderson Bay and Burley Lagoon, in Purdy, north of the city of Gig Harbor, Washington, USA. The school is part of the Peninsula School District.

The Glencove Hotel is a former hotel in Glencove, Washington. It was built in 1897 by Hans Nicholas and Agnes Petersen. The hotel contained six guest rooms and three floors, but was converted to a private residence in 1930. It is currently run as a bed and breakfast.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Camp Seymour is a YMCA camping facility located in Washington state. It is considered a branch of the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties and has been in operation since 1907. As of 2019, it frequently sold out and a sister camp at Lake Helena was established. In 2005, YMCA Camp Seymour celebrated its 100th anniversary with events for the community, friends, family and alumni. YMCA Camp Seymour is one of only five YMCA camps in the nation to celebrate 100 years of camping on its original property.

Bethel is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. Located a few miles south of the city of Port Orchard, Bethel is a wooded residential area. Most residents commute to Port Orchard or nearby cities. It was first designated a place by the Census Bureau in the 2010 Census, at which time its population was 3,713.
