Messerschmidt Pond Wildlife Management Area is a tract of land in Westbrook and Deep River, Connecticut, adjacent to Cockaponset State Forest. The area includes the millpond and former site of the Deep River Manufacturing Company (also known as Doane's Sawmill and the Messerschmidt Hardware Mill), which preserved a variety of historic manufacturing machinery until its demolition in 1987. The mill and an associated shed and dam were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge is a 950-acre (384.5 ha) National Wildlife Refuge in ten units across the U.S. state of Connecticut. Located in the Atlantic Flyway, the refuge spans 70 miles (110 km) of Connecticut coastline and provides important resting, feeding, and nesting habitat for many species of wading birds, shorebirds, songbirds and terns, including the endangered roseate tern. Adjacent waters serve as wintering habitat for brant, scoters, American black duck, and other waterfowl. Overall, the refuge encompasses over 900 acres (364.2 ha) of barrier beach, intertidal wetland and fragile island habitats.Originally named the Salt Meadow National Wildlife Refuge, the refuge was renamed in 1987 after Stewart B. McKinney, a congressman from Connecticut.

It is located on McVeagh Road in Westbrook next to the St. Mark's Catholic Church.

Westbrook station is a regional rail station on the Northeast Corridor, located off Connecticut Route 153 just north of the village center of Westbrook, Connecticut. It is served by the CTrail's Shore Line East commuter rail service; Amtrak's Acela Express and Northeast Regional services run through the station without stopping. The first Westbrook station opened in 1852, was replaced in 1906, and closed in 1936. A new station for Shore Line East opened in 1990; and was rebuilt in 2001. A new station with a larger lot and two accessible platforms opened on March 25, 2014. The larger lot now allows the station, which is less than half a mile from Interstate 95 and U.S. Route 1, to serve as a park-and-ride station.

Westbrook Center is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the primary village and adjacent residential land in the town of Westbrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut, United States. It is in the southern part of the town, along U.S. Route 1 and bordered to the south by Long Island Sound. To the east it is bordered by the town of Old Saybrook, and the west and northwest border of the CDP is the Patchogue River. As of the 2020 census, the CDP had a population of 2,220, out of 6,769 in the entire town of Westbrook. The Westbrook Town Center Historic District occupies 178 acres (0.72 km2) at the center of the community.

The Westbrook Town Center Historic District encompasses the historic town center of Westbrook, Connecticut. Roughly linear in shape, the district extends along the Boston Post Road (United States Route 1), with its focal center at the junction with Essex Road (Connecticut Route 153). The area has been a center of civic activity since the early 18th century, even though Westbrook was not incorporated until 1840, and has residential, commercial, civic, and religious architecture covering three centuries. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.
