White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, also known as the New River Stadium is a rugby league and athletics stadium in Wood Green, Haringey, north London, England that is home to London Skolars rugby league club, Enfield and Haringey Athletic Club, Wood Green Weightlifting Club, Park View F.C., Haringey Rhinos rugby union club and Haringey Cycling Club. The New River Stadium also hosts the Middlesex 9s rugby league nines tournament. The stadium is within walking distance of White Hart Lane football stadium. The grandstand at the ground holds approximately 1,000 people, while the ground itself has a capacity of 5,000.

Woodside High School is a mixed 11–16 comprehensive school located in the Wood Green area of the London Borough of Haringey, England. With a student roll of 1200, the school has been judged by Ofsted as outstanding for two consecutive inspections (2011 and 2014). In September 2006, the school was renamed from 'White Hart Lane secondary school' to 'Woodside High School'. Having had a chequered reputation, its head teacher Joan McVittie decided to give the school a make-over, with new uniforms and a new reputation. The school is now one of the best schools in Haringey, being 3rd in the Haringey league tables and in the top 25 of the most improved schools in the country. It carries a new reputation that is highly valued by the students. The school was built in 1962.

Oakthorpe Park is a small park and a larger, informal and transiently used neighbourhood name denoting a small fraction of the south of the London Borough of Enfield in Palmers Green, north London, UK. It is situated next to the North Circular. Rarely marked on maps, the Oakthorpe Park neighbourhood corresponds to part of the 2004 to date Bowes ward and its nearest train or underground stations are at Wood Green, Palmers Green, Bounds Green and Bowes Park. The A406 road North Circular Road passes east–west through the north of the neighbourhood.

The North Circular Road (officially the A406 and sometimes known as simply the North Circular) is a 25.7-mile-long (41.4 km) ring road around Central London in England. It runs from Chiswick in the west to Woolwich in the east via suburban North London, connecting various suburbs and other trunk roads in the region. Together with its counterpart, the South Circular Road, it forms a ring road around central London. This ring road does not make a complete circuit of the city, being C-shaped rather than a complete loop as the crossing of the River Thames in the east is made on the Woolwich Ferry. The road was originally designed to connect local industrial communities together in addition to bypassing London, and was constructed in the 1920s and 1930s. It received significant upgrades after World War II, and was at one point planned to be upgraded to motorway as part of the controversial and ultimately cancelled London Ringways scheme in the late 1960s. In the early 1990s, the road was extended to bypass Barking and meet the A13 north of Woolwich; the sections south from here to the ferry, in Beckton and North Woolwich, are labelled the A1020 and A117 respectively, instead of A406. The road's design varies from six-lane dual carriageway to urban streets; the latter, although short, cause traffic congestion in London and are regularly featured on local traffic reports, particularly at Bounds Green. The uncertainty of development has caused urban decay and property blight along its route, and led to criticism over its poor pollution record. Several London Borough Councils have set up regeneration projects to improve the environment for communities close to the North Circular.

Wood Green Town Football Club was a football club based in Tottenham in the London Borough of Haringey, England. Formed in 1911 as a breakaway from Tufnell Park, they merged with Edmonton (a descendant of Tufnell Park) in 1973 to form Edmonton & Haringey. During their history the club were known as Tufnell Spartans, Wood Green, Wood Green Town and Haringey Borough.

Haringey Borough Football Club is a football club based in Tottenham in the London Borough of Haringey, England. Formed in 1973 by a merger of Edmonton and Wood Green Town, they are currently members of the Isthmian League Premier Division and play at Coles Park.

New Salamis Football Club is a football club based in Bowes Park, London, England. They are currently members of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division and play at the Coles Park, White Hart Lane, London, groundsharing with Haringey Borough.

The Muswell Stream is a watercourse in the London Borough of Haringey. It originates in Muswell Hill from three source rivers. The largest of the springs is now under a private home on Muswell Road. In the 12th century, the spring was on land that belonged to the Bishop of London and was used as farmland. Healing powers were attributed to this source and it was therefore consecrated to the Virgin Maria and a chapel built in its place for the pilgrimage to take place. According to tradition, Scottish king Malcolm IV is said to have been healed by the water of the spring. In 1875 one of the issues was diverted to a lake in Alexandra Park. The part of the park in question was sold in 1899, the lake drained and the watercourse moved underground to build Grove Avenue and Rosebery Road. The Wood Green and Hornsey laundry used water from the Muswell Stream in the 1890s. The watercourse was completely submerged in the 1920s and 1930s. Underground water reservoirs should not always successfully ensure that the watercourse absorbs large amounts of precipitation from its catchment area. The mouth of the Muswell Stream in the Pymmes Brook is the last visible part of the watercourse.

St Anne's Catholic High School for Girls is an all-girls Catholic secondary school located in London, England, which was founded to provide education for Catholic girls aged 11–18. It is situated in Palmers Green and is the highest performing non-selective school in the London Borough of Enfield.

St Thomas More Catholic School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Wood Green, London N22. The school was founded in 1952 at Holcombe Road Tottenham, London N17, fourteen years after work had begun on the buildings. It is the only Roman Catholic secondary school in the London Borough of Haringey.

The Wood Green ricin plot was an alleged bioterrorism plot to attack the London Underground with ricin poison. The Metropolitan Police Service arrested six suspects on 5 January 2003, with one more arrested two days later. Within two days, the Biological Weapon Identification Group at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in Porton Down were sure that there was no trace of ricin on any of the articles that were found. This fact was initially misreported to other government departments as well as to the public, who only became aware of this in 2005. Reporting restrictions were in place before the public's perceptions could be corrected.The only subsequent conviction was of Kamel Bourgass, sentenced to 17 years imprisonment for conspiring "together with other persons unknown to commit public nuisance by the use of poisons and/or explosives to cause disruption, fear or injury" on the basis of five pages of his hand-written notes on how to make ricin, cyanide and botulinum. Bourgass had already been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of detective Stephen Oake, whom he stabbed to death during his arrest in Manchester. Bourgass also stabbed three other police officers in that incident; they all survived. All other suspects were either released without charge, acquitted, or had their trials abandoned. Bourgass had attended meetings of Al-Muhajiroun leading up to the plot.

Truro House is a grade II listed house on the corner of Green Lanes and Oakthorpe Road in Palmers Green, London. It is named for former owner Thomas Wilde, 1st Baron Truro. Immediately to the south is the New River. The building was finally refurbished and repaired for sale in 2017 as part of an adjoining housing development.
