Robert G. Cole Middle and High School is the only public middle school and public high school for the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District, and is classified as a 3A school by the UIL. It is named after Medal of Honor recipient Lt. Col. Robert G. Cole, who was born on Fort Sam Houston. As the boundaries of the district are coterminous with the boundaries of Fort Sam Houston, enrollment at Cole is open only to those pupils residing on the installation or nearby Camp Bullis, or transfer students whose parents work at either installation.Cole has been twice named a National Blue Ribbon School, in 1986-87 and again in 1990-91. In 2017, the school was rated "Academically Acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency, with a three-star distinction for Academic Achievements in ELA/Reading, Science, and Post-Secondary Readiness.

Fort Sam Houston Independent School District (FSHISD) is a public school district based in San Antonio, Texas (United States). The district includes Fort Sam Houston. It also takes dependents of people working for the military who live on Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis. The boundaries of the district include those two properties.

Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery in the city of San Antonio in Bexar County, Texas. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 154.7 acres (62.6 ha), and as of 2014, had over 144,000 interments. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Dodd Army Airfield was an airfield located within the current boundaries of Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Dodd Field includes the area bounded on the north by Rittiman Road, on the west by Harry Wurzbach Memorial Highway, on the south by Winans (formerly Dashiell) Road and on the east by the Fort Sam Houston Reservation boundary.

Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is the United States Army's premier medical institution. Located on Fort Sam Houston, BAMC, a 425-bed Academic Medical Center, is the Department of Defense's largest facility and only Level 1 Trauma Center. BAMC is also home to the Center for the Intrepid, an outpatient rehabilitation facility. The center is composed of ten separate organizations, including community medical clinics, centered around the Army's largest in-patient hospital. BAMC is staffed by more than 8,000 Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Civilians, and Contractors providing care to wounded Service Members and the San Antonio Community at-large.

The Center for the Intrepid is a rehabilitation facility to treat amputees and burn victims. It is located next to the San Antonio Military Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. It was specifically built to provide care for United States servicemen and women who have served in military operations in the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan. Veterans from previous conflicts are also eligible to receive treatment as well as other military personnel who have sustained injuries in other operations, training exercises, or in non-combat situations. It provides training to help disabled servicemen use prosthetics, perform everyday tasks, and reintegrate with society.The 4-story, 65,000-square-foot (6,000 m2) facility was officially dedicated on January 29, 2007. Guests attending the ceremony included United States Senators John McCain and Hillary Clinton. The structure was financed entirely by private donations through the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Over 600,000 people contributed to the $50 million construction cost.

Terrell Hills is a city in Bexar County, Texas, United States; it is located 5 miles (8 km) northeast of downtown San Antonio. As of the 2010 census Terrell Hills had a population of 4,878. It is part of a group of three cities—Terrell Hills, Alamo Heights, and Olmos Park—located between Uptown San Antonio, Midtown San Antonio, Downtown San Antonio, and Fort Sam Houston (a U.S. Army post). Terrell Hills is bordered on the west by Alamo Heights, on the east by Fort Sam Houston, on the north by Uptown San Antonio, and on the south by San Antonio's Near East Side. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community is named after Dr. Frederick Terrell, a local bank president who had served as mayor of San Antonio in 1901. Development of the community began in 1919, when Dr. Terrell sold 22.5 acres (9.1 ha) of property to a private association called the Terrell Hills Community. This organization managed the community until 1939, when it incorporated as a municipality. In 1945, the City of San Antonio attempted to annex the new municipality without permitting an election in either Terrell Hills or San Antonio, but Terrell Hills successfully sued to block the annexation.

Windsor Park Mall was a shopping mall located on the northeast side of San Antonio, Texas, off Interstate 35 and Walzem Road. It opened in 1976 and closed in 2005. In 2007, the building, of which ownership was transferred to the suburb of Windcrest, Texas, became the new corporate headquarters of Rackspace, a Web hosting company. Their redevelopment of the mall structure, now known as "The Castle", has sparked a redevelopment of the surrounding area.

The U.S. Army Medical Department Museum — or AMEDD Museum — at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, originated as part of the Army's Field Service School at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. It moved to Fort Sam Houston in 1946. It is currently a component of the U.S. Army Medical Department Center and School. The museum features the history of the Army Medical Department from 1775 to the present, as well as medical contributions of the Army during times of peace and war. General areas covered are significant historical events, scientific and technological advances, development of the medical field service and contributions of key officers and enlisted personnel. Audio-visual presentations introduce the history of the Department. Two large galleries house the medical equipment, uniforms, medals, insignia and artwork that make up the museum's exhibits. Museum holdings include material on medical personnel, POWs in World War II's Pacific Theater, unit insignia and archival documents and photographs. The museum has been chosen to preserve historic artifacts from Naval Hospital Corps School Great Lakes. BRAC 2005 resulted in transferred of Corps School from Chicago to the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC), also located on Fort Sam Houston.

Theodore Roosevelt High School is a public high school in San Antonio, Texas (United States). The school is part of the North East Independent School District, which serves portions of San Antonio and the City of Windcrest. It first opened for classes in 1966, funded by a 1960 school district bond that also established Churchill High School and the Blossom Athletic Center.Roosevelt is host to two magnet programs: Design and Technology Academy Engineering & Technologies AcademyRoosevelt was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 1999-2000.

The Engineering & Technologies Academy (ETA) is a public engineering based magnet high school located at Theodore Roosevelt High School, in San Antonio, Texas. The Engineering and Technologies Academy has various engineering and science related curriculum such as manufacturing, communication graphics, principles of engineering, drafting and computer-Aided design, GIS, and information technologies. Students also have the ability to partake in off-campus internships related to various fields of engineering. ETA was founded in 2004 by former director William Sturgis and former UTSA professor Richard Howe. ETA enrolled 97 freshman for 2009–2010. The majority of students at ETA participate in competitions in organizations such as FIRST, the Technology Student Association, and the University Interscholastic League. Some of the program's students are employed as interns at businesses such as Southwest Research Institute, Rackspace, and Zachry Construction Corporation.

The Design and Technology Academy (DATA), established in 1999, is a public technology based magnet school located on the Theodore Roosevelt High School campus in San Antonio, Texas. It offers technology-oriented curricula including architecture, graphic design, 3D animation, traditional art, digital art, and video production. The school also provides a college preparation program utilizing elective pathways and college-level courses.
