Saint Mary's Hospital (Waterbury)

Waterbury Catholic High School was a Catholic secondary school founded in 1926 in Waterbury, Connecticut by the Congregation of Notre Dame (CND) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The CND infused the school with their strong interest in education, particularly as a vehicle to empower women. The school brought traditional college preparatory courses together with a strong curriculum of social justice, in the tradition of peace and justice studies. The study of Thomas Merton, Thich Nhat Hanh and other visionaries threaded through the curriculum. The brothers Daniel and Philip Berrigan, James Carroll, Doctor Spock and César Chávez all visited the school in the 1970s. The school graduated about 120 young women per year. Kathleen P. Deignan taught there as a young nun, using her music to teach and animate students.It closed in 1975 when it merged with the Holy Cross High School, an all-boys school. Sacred Heart High School bought the building.

Waterbury Arts Magnet School is a public middle and high school located in downtown Waterbury, Connecticut. The school opened in 2004 alongside the newly renovated Palace Theater, to which the school is granted limited access for assemblies and performances. Prominent features of the school include various performance spaces, music labs, and a television studio.

Sacred Heart High School was a private, Roman Catholic high school located in the downtown district in the city of Waterbury, Connecticut. It was in the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hartford.

The Timexpo Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut was dedicated to the history of Timex Group and its predecessors, featuring exhibits dating to the founding of Waterbury Clock Company in 1854. The museum was located in the Brass Mill Commons shopping center with its location marked by a 40-foot (12 m) high replica of an Easter Island Moai statue which connected with the museum's archaeology exhibit. The museum covered 14,000 square feet (1,300 m2) with 8,000 square feet (740 m2) dedicated to the two main exhibits: the company's history of timepieces and archaeology.For decades, Waterbury has been known as the Brass Capital, despite a decline in manufacturing over time. The building that housed the museum was the former executive office of the Scovill Manufacturing Company and Century Brass Company, and is the only remaining building of the 44-acre (180,000 m2) brass mill complex. Timex Group owed its origins to the Waterbury brass industry when the original clock company began in 1854 as a division of brass manufacturer Benedict & Burnham – a local competitor to Scovill. Waterbury Clock was spun off and incorporated on March 27, 1857 due to its success.The museum focused on important events in Timex Group history, including an exhibit on the U.S. Army commissioning Waterbury Clock Company in 1917 to provide wristwatch versions of the Ingersoll Ladies Midget pocketwatch for soldiers heading overseas. It included aspects of local history, including letters from Mark Twain, who lived for a time in nearby Hartford, as well as exhibits concerning the travels of settlers across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans based on the explorations of Thor Heyerdahl.The museum was approved in 1999 and opened in May 2001. Museum costs were estimated at $4.8 million, with the Naugatuck Valley Development Corporation providing approximately $500,000 and Timex funding the rest.The final cost was $5.45 million, including $2 million from the Naugatuck Valley Development Corporation and the Connecticut Department of Economic Development and Community Development.The museum closed at the end of September, 2015, because of low attendance.

The Matthews and Willard Factory was a historic industrial site at Cherry Avenue and North Elm Street in Waterbury, Connecticut. Founded in 1874, Matthews and Willard contributed to the expansion of Waterbury's brass processing industry. The plant remained little altered from its last period of expansion c. 1900, and was a good example of period industrial architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, and was demolished in 2012. As of 2018, the site stands vacant.

The Palace Theater is a 2,900-seat auditorium at 100 East Main Street in downtown Waterbury, Connecticut. The theater currently presents a variety of live entertainment, hosting traveling productions and locally produced events. It was built in 1921 to a Renaissance Revival design by Thomas W. Lamb, and is an architecturally prominent element of the city's downtown. It underwent a major restoration in the early 21st century, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Bank Street Historic District is a group of four attached brick commercial buildings in different architectural styles on that street in Waterbury, Connecticut, United States. They were built over a 20-year period around the end of the 19th century, when Waterbury was a prosperous, growing industrial center. In 1983 they were recognized as a historic district and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Among the four is a rare Queen Anne Style commercial building, and one of the only three Richardsonian Romanesque commercial buildings in the city. Some of Waterbury's leading architects of the time were among the designers. The four have remained intact even as later, modern development interceded between them and the contemporary buildings elsewhere downtown.

Waterbury is a city in the U.S. state of Connecticut on the Naugatuck River, 33 miles (53 km) southwest of Hartford and 77 miles (124 km) northeast of New York City. Waterbury is the largest city in the Naugatuck Valley Planning Region and second-largest city in New Haven County. According to the 2020 US Census, in 2020 Waterbury had a population of 114,403. As of the 2010 census, Waterbury had a population of 110,366, making it the 9th largest city in New England and the 5th largest city in Connecticut.Throughout the first half of the 20th century, Waterbury had large industrial interests and was the leading center in the United States for the manufacture of brassware (including castings and finishings), as reflected in the nickname the "Brass City" and the city's motto Quid Aere Perennius? ("What Is More Lasting Than Brass?"). It was also noted for the manufacture of watches and clocks (Timex). The city is alongside Interstate 84 (Yankee Expressway) and Route 8 and has a Metro-North railroad station with connections to Grand Central Terminal. Waterbury is also home to Post University and the regional campuses of the University of Connecticut, University of Bridgeport, Western Connecticut State University as well as Naugatuck Valley Community College.

The Waterbury Clock Company factory is a historic complex of factory buildings in Waterbury, Connecticut. Developed beginning in the 1873, the extensive plant served as the company's main manufacturing facility and headquarters until 1944. The company is now known as the Timex Group USA, and was for a time one of the world's largest manufacturers of pocket watches. The surviving elements of the manufacturing complex were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The property has since been subdivided and is home to a variety of primarily industrial or commercial uses.

The Elton Hotel is located at 30 West Main Street in downtown Waterbury, Connecticut, United States. It is an early 20th-century building by local architects Griggs & Hunt in the Second Renaissance Revival architectural style. It was built in 1904 to replace a lavish hotel lost in a fire that destroyed much of downtown Waterbury two years earlier. To the surprise of its investors, mainly prominent local businessmen, it turned a profit within a year of its opening. F. Scott Fitzgerald was a guest, and James Thurber is said to have written "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", during a stay of his. On the eve of the 1960 election, John F. Kennedy gave an early-morning speech from the hotel that was credited with helping him win Connecticut. It continued to be used as a hotel until the early 1970s. In the late 1970s, when the Downtown Waterbury Historic District was created, the hotel building was included as a contributing property. In 1983, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places individually. Since then it has been converted into professional office space and senior housing.

The George S. Abbott Building, also known as Wheeler and Wilson Building and Abbott Towers Apartments, is a historic mixed-use residential and commercial building at 245-247 North Main Street in Waterbury, Connecticut. Built in 1899, it is locally unusual for its all-masonry construction, and its unique adaptation to a triangular lot. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is a Roman Catholic church located at 74 West Main Street in Waterbury, Connecticut.
