Corning–Painted Post Airport

Coopers Plains is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the towns of Erwin and Campbell in Steuben County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 598. The community is in eastern Steuben County, in the northern part of Erwin and extending north into the southern part of Campbell. It is bordered to the south by Gang Mills. Coopers Plains occupies valley bottomland between the Cohocton River to the south and Meads Creek to the northeast, extending southeast to their confluence. The Cohocton is a southeast-flowing tributary of the Chemung River and part of the Susquehanna River watershed. New York State Route 415 (Victory Highway) passes through the north side of the community, and Interstate 86 forms the northern edge of the CDP, with access from Exit 42 (County Road 26). It is 3 miles (5 km) southeast to Painted Post and 5 miles (8 km) to Corning, while to the northwest it is 15 miles (24 km) to Bath.

Erwin is a town in Steuben County, New York, United States. The population was 8,090 at the 2020 census. The name is that of an early settler, who became the first Town Supervisor. Erwin is in the southeast part of the county and is west of the city of Corning.

Gang Mills is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Steuben County, New York. The population was 4,185 at the 2010 census. Gang Mills is located in the town of Erwin, southwest of Corning. During the mid 1800s, it was the site of gang-saw mills to cut lumber.

First Baptist Church of Painted Post is a historic Baptist church located at Painted Post in Steuben County, New York. The church was originally built in 1860 and expanded and remodeled in 1915 by architects Pierce & Bickford after a fire destroyed the mid-19th century building's tower and spire. The three-part church consists of the main block—a 40-foot-wide (12 m), 60-foot-deep (18 m), gable-roofed edifice built in 1860 and now containing the sanctuary; the front wing—a 40-foot-wide (12 m), 12-foot-deep (3.7 m) addition built in 1915 and now containing the foyer and narthex; and a noncontributing rear addition. The front wing features two massive square corner towers surmounted by louvered bell towers and bell curved roofs.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Painted Post station is a historic railway station at Painted Post in Steuben County, New York. It was constructed in 1881–1882 as a passenger and freight depot for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 as the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad Station.The depot is used as the Painted Post-Erwin Museum at the Depot, a museum of local history that is operated by the Corning-Painted Post Historical Society. The Society also operates the Benjamin Patterson Inn, an early 19th-century period tavern in Corning, New York.

US Post Office-Painted Post is a historic post office building located at Painted Post in Steuben County, New York. It was designed in 1937 and built in 1937-1938 and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, Louis A. Simon. It is a one-story, three bay structure clad in red brick in the Colonial Revival style. The interior features a 1939 mural by Amy Jones titled "Recording the Victory" and depicting a Revolutionary War scene.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The name comes from a Seneca carved post found by explorers at the junction of three local rivers. Corning-Painted Post Airport (7N1) is west of the village. The former town of Painted Post was in 1836 renamed the town of Corning.

The Tioga River ( TY-o-gə) is a tributary of the Chemung River, approximately 58 miles (93 km) long, in northern Pennsylvania and western New York in the United States. It drains a region of ridges in the northern Allegheny Plateau in the watershed of the Susquehanna River. In the 19th century, trees logged in the Tioga Valley were extensively used in shipbuilding. Logs were floated down the Tioga to the Chemung and on to the Susquehanna River, the Chesapeake Bay, and the shipyards of Baltimore.

The Cohocton River, sometimes referred to as the Conhocton River, is a 58.5-mile-long (94.1 km) tributary of the Chemung River in western New York in the United States. Via the Chemung River, it is part of the Susquehanna River watershed, flowing to Chesapeake Bay. The name "Cohocton" is derived from an Iroquois term, Ga-ha-to, meaning "log floating in the water" or "trees in the water".New York State Route 17 follows the valley of the river along much of its route through Steuben County. The river is a popular destination for fly fishing.

Riverside is a village in Steuben County, New York, United States. The population was 497 at the 2010 census. Riverside is situated in the town of Corning and is a western suburb of the city of Corning.

WYDC (channel 48) is a television station licensed to Corning, New York, United States, serving as the Fox affiliate for the Elmira area. It is owned by Coastal Television Broadcasting Company LLC alongside low-power MyNetworkTV affiliate WJKP-LD (channel 39). The two stations share studios on East Market Street in Downtown Corning; WYDC's transmitter is located on Higman Hill.
