St. Clement's Church (Danish: Sankt Clemens Kirke) is a Christian place of worship located on the island of Rømø in Tønder, Denmark. It belongs to the Tønder Priory of the Church of Denmark. The church was dedicated to Saint Clement, the sailors' patron saint. The oldest part of the church was built sometime after 1250 and expanded four centuries later. Possibly in the latter half of the 15th century, the church tower was built in the Gothic style. The church was expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries. Interior decoration includes several votive ships.

Rømø (German: Röm, North Frisian: Rem) is a Danish island in the Wadden Sea. Rømø is part of Tønder Municipality. The island had 650 inhabitants as of 1 January 2011, and covers an area of 129 km². Rømø is the southernmost of Denmark's Wadden Sea Islands. This distinction was previously held by the small uninhabited island of Jordsand, which sank in 1999.

Jordsand (North Frisian: Jorsund) was a small Danish hallig located in the Wadden Sea southeast of the Danish island Rømø and east of the German island Sylt. The island was first known by the name Hiortsand ("hart island") and was possibly connected to both the mainland and the island of Sylt. The old name refers to the presence of deer on the island. Records from 1231 describe the island as having a size equivalent of 20 km2 (7.7 square miles). It contained numerous terps. The island was destroyed in a series of storm tides. Its size was described in 1807 and 1873 as 40.7 and 18.4 hectares respectively. In 1895, a storm destroyed the last terp and the island was abandoned and became a bird sanctuary. Attempts to protect it from the recurring floods were made in the 1970s but with limited success since the island remained unprotected by a dyke. The island's size ultimately shrunk to 2.3 hectares and the uninhabited island was finally destroyed in a flood during the winter of 1998/99. By 1999 all vegetation on the former island had disappeared, and the Danish Nature Agency removed its observational hut from the flooded area. In 1999, the island was officially registered as disappeared.The area is now a sandbank (højsande), Jordsand Flak similar to Koresand near Fanø. Højsande denotes a sandbank that is only flooded during exceptionally high waters. Its name lives on in the name of one of Germany's oldest environmental organizations, Verein Jordsand established in 1907.

This battle took place on 16 May 1644 during the Danish-Swedish War near List Deep, between Sylt and Rømø in western Denmark. Nine Danish ships under King Christian IV forced a retreat back into List Deep of 26 smaller Dutch ships (13 under Marten Thijsen and 13 under Hendrik Gerritsen) which had come to assist Sweden against Denmark. 4 more Dutch ships from Marcus' squadron appeared during the battle but took no part.

The Danish Wadden Sea Islands (Danish: Danske Vadehavsøer) are a group of islands on the western coast of Jutland, Denmark. They have belonged to the region of Southern Denmark since January 1, 2007. Previously they belonged to the counties of South Jutland and Ribe. The Danish islands differ from the German North Frisian Islands because no Frisians live on the Danish islands.

Marsk Tower ("Marsh Tower" in English) is a double helix-shaped corten steel observation tower designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group located in Wadden Sea National Park, specifically at the Marsk Camp in the southern Denmark town of Skærbæk. it overlooks both the North Sea and the park itself. The tower, a double spiral staircase consisting of 272 steps (141 ascending and 131 descending), was commissioned by the town of Skærbæk in an effort to boost tourism to the area.

Mandø or Manø (Danish pronunciation: [mænøˀ]) is one of the Danish Wadden Sea islands off the southwest coast of Jutland, Denmark in the Wadden Sea, part of the North Sea. The island covers an area of 7.63 square kilometres (2.95 square miles) and had between 27-31 inhabitants in January 2022. The island is part of Esbjerg Municipality and is situated approximately 12 kilometres (7 miles) southwest of the ancient town of Ribe. Mandø is barely accessible by road at high tide over an unpaved surface level causeway of about four kilometers in length that connects the island to the mainland. Low tide transit is possible. Extensive mudflats and tidal marshes encircle the island and provide breeding areas to multitudes of birds and other organisms. In the past centuries several large earthen dikes have been constructed around the perimeter of the island, although substantially set back from the shoreline. This artifice has allowed conventional farming in the form of grain growing and sheep grazing. Mandø is technically a hallig, although it is far from the ten German islands commonly described by that term. The name was formerly often spelled Manø.

Skærbæk Municipality was a municipality in Southern Jutland. It covered an area of 360 square kilometres (140 sq mi) and had a total population of 7,294 (2005). The municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007) when it was merged with Bredebro, Højer, Løgumkloster, Nørre-Rangstrup, and Tønder municipalities to form the new Tønder Municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 1,352 square kilometres (522 sq mi) and a total population of 42,645 (2005). The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a kommunalreform ("Municipality Reform") that merged a number of existing parishes: Brøns Parish, Døstrup Parish, Mjolden Parish, Rejsby Parish, Rømø Parish, Skærbæk Parish, and Vodder Parish. The municipal seat was the town of Skærbæk. The municipality included the island of Rømø, the southernmost of Denmark's part of the North Frisian Islands.

Skærbæk (German: Scherrebek) is a railway town, with a population of 3,211 (1 January 2023), in Tønder Municipality, Region of Southern Denmark on the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. Skærbæk was the municipal seat of the former Skærbæk Municipality, until 1 January 2007.

The Wadden Sea Centre (Danish: Vadehavscentret) is a visitor centre and museum for the UNESCO World Heritage Site the Wadden Sea, an intertidal zone of the North Sea. The centre is located in Vester Vedsted, near Ribe, Denmark, and opened in February 2017. It serves to raise awareness of the Wadden Sea and the marshlands around it.

Dankirke was a Danish Iron Age settlement in south-west Jutland, located near the later town of Ribe. It was divided into East Dankirke and West Dankirke. Elise Thorvildsen's excavations of the settlement from 1965-1970 uncovered the remnants of houses dating to the 4th or 5th century AD thus making Dankirke one of Denmark's earliest cities. Some believe that Denmark's first church was built in Dankirke, but generally it is agreed that the first Christian church in Denmark was built in Hedeby around the year 850. The village was located close to the sea, which allowed trade with other countries such as England. Up to the year 700 Dankirke was one of the most important of Denmark's trading cities, until it was surpassed by Ribe. Dankirke's archeological findings are exhibited at the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen.

Døstrup is a village with a population of 297 (1 January 2023) in Southern Jutland in Denmark. Døstrup is located six kilometers south of Skærbæk, seven kilometers north of Bredebro and 22 kilometers north of Tønder.
