Skærbæk Municipality was a municipality in Southern Jutland. It covered an area of 360 square kilometres (140 sq mi) and had a total population of 7,294 (2005). The municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007) when it was merged with Bredebro, Højer, Løgumkloster, Nørre-Rangstrup, and Tønder municipalities to form the new Tønder Municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 1,352 square kilometres (522 sq mi) and a total population of 42,645 (2005). The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a kommunalreform ("Municipality Reform") that merged a number of existing parishes: Brøns Parish, Døstrup Parish, Mjolden Parish, Rejsby Parish, Rømø Parish, Skærbæk Parish, and Vodder Parish. The municipal seat was the town of Skærbæk. The municipality included the island of Rømø, the southernmost of Denmark's part of the North Frisian Islands.

Skærbæk (German: Scherrebek) is a railway town, with a population of 3,211 (1 January 2023), in Tønder Municipality, Region of Southern Denmark on the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. Skærbæk was the municipal seat of the former Skærbæk Municipality, until 1 January 2007.

Døstrup is a village with a population of 297 (1 January 2023) in Southern Jutland in Denmark. Døstrup is located six kilometers south of Skærbæk, seven kilometers north of Bredebro and 22 kilometers north of Tønder.

Bredebro is a small town with a population of 1,456 (1 January 2023) in Region of Southern Denmark in Denmark on the Jutland peninsula. The town was the original home of the ECCO shoe manufacturing company. Until 1 January 2007 Bredebro was the seat of the former Bredebro Municipality (Danish, kommune).

Dankirke was a Danish Iron Age settlement in south-west Jutland, located near the later town of Ribe. It was divided into East Dankirke and West Dankirke. Elise Thorvildsen's excavations of the settlement from 1965-1970 uncovered the remnants of houses dating to the 4th or 5th century AD thus making Dankirke one of Denmark's earliest cities. Some believe that Denmark's first church was built in Dankirke, but generally it is agreed that the first Christian church in Denmark was built in Hedeby around the year 850. The village was located close to the sea, which allowed trade with other countries such as England. Up to the year 700 Dankirke was one of the most important of Denmark's trading cities, until it was surpassed by Ribe. Dankirke's archeological findings are exhibited at the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen.

The Renbæk Prison is an open prison in Denmark located in Renbæk, 10 km. east of Skaerbaek. The site originally housed a camp for young unemployed people in 1943 but was temporarily taken over by the Prison and Probation Service to house inmates from the open government work house program. The prison was taken over by the German occupiers, and in 1946 it was converted into a real state prison. During the 1960s, the majority of its present buildings were built on the site. Of the prisons 160 seats only 14 is in double cells. Prison offers a range of courses, particularly in agriculture and forestry.

The Wadden Sea Centre (Danish: Vadehavscentret) is a visitor centre and museum for the UNESCO World Heritage Site the Wadden Sea, an intertidal zone of the North Sea. The centre is located in Vester Vedsted, near Ribe, Denmark, and opened in February 2017. It serves to raise awareness of the Wadden Sea and the marshlands around it.

Ribe Katedralskole is a cathedral school in the town of Ribe, Denmark. The school was first mentioned in 1145, making it one of the oldest schools in the world. The oldest building still in use, Puggård, is from the fourteenth century. Except for churches, this is the oldest Scandinavian building still used for its original purpose. Today the school is an independent school functioning as a modern high school (Danish: Gymnasium og HFkursus).

St. Catherine's Priory (Danish: Sankt Kathrine Kirke or Sankt Kathrine Kloster) was an important early Dominican friary, located in Ribe, Denmark from 1228 until 1536. The buildings still stand, although there is no monastic community there. Known as Ribe Kloster, it is Denmark's most complete extant monastic building complex.

Ribe Cathedral or Our Lady Maria Cathedral (Danish: Ribe Domkirke or Vor Frue Maria Domkirke) is located in the ancient city of Ribe, on the west coast of southern Jutland, Denmark. It was founded in the Viking Age as the first Christian church in Denmark by Ansgar, a missionary monk from Hamburg, under permission of the pagan King Horik I. The cathedral has experienced several damaging events throughout its long history and has been restored, expanded and decorated repeatedly. As it stands today, Ribe Cathedral is the best preserved Romanesque building in Denmark, but reflects a plethora of different architectural styles and artistic traditions. It ranks among the most popular tourist attractions in Denmark and has been awarded two stars in the Michelin guide.

Ribe (Danish pronunciation: [ˈʁiːpə]) is a town in south-west Jutland, Denmark, with a population of 8,295 (2024). It is the seat of the Diocese of Ribe. Until 1 January 2007, Ribe was the seat of both a surrounding municipality and county. It is now part of the enlarged Esbjerg Municipality in the Region of Southern Denmark. It is the oldest town in Denmark.
