Hebrew Seminary is a non-denominational rabbinical school in Illinois, which uniquely trains both deaf and hearing students; it ordains women, men, and openly LGBTQIA people. It was founded in 1992 by Rabbi Douglas Goldhamer, and it is the first and only Rabbinic school for the deaf in the world. The mission of Hebrew Seminary is to train individuals as rabbis and Jewish educators to serve all Jewish communities, including the deaf community. Hebrew Seminary has been an inclusive and egalitarian community for the study and practice of Judaism since its founding.Hebrew Seminary's ordination program encourages the highest commitment to traditional scholarship, such as Talmud and Bible, as well as the spiritual discipline of Kabbalah, with meditative practices. This teaches students to be scholars, educators, and leaders, as well as spiritual guides "who can hear and share the voice of God with members of their communities". The program spans 5 years, requiring a thesis and a comprehensive exam; this incorporation of Kabbalah and meditation is a distinctive aspect of the rabbinic curriculum. All graduates - hearing and deaf - are required to attain fluency in American Sign Language.

Crawford–East Prairie was a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's Niles Center branch, now known as the Yellow Line. The station was located at Mulford Street between Crawford Avenue and East Prairie Road in Skokie, Illinois. Crawford–East Prairie was situated east of Kostner and west of Dodge. Crawford–East Prairie opened on March 28, 1925, and closed on March 27, 1948, upon the closing of the Niles Center branch.

Howard Street, alternately known as Sibley Avenue in Park Ridge, is a major east–west street in the Chicago metropolitan area. At Paulina Street, it houses the Howard CTA Station, the northern terminus of the Red Line, and, between Paulina Street and Kedzie Avenue, serves as the border between the city of Chicago (community areas of Rogers Park and West Ridge) and the city of Evanston. It runs intermittently through several north and northwestern suburbs, near O'Hare International Airport, and finally terminates at Ridge Avenue in Elk Grove Village. The street is located at 7600 N in Chicago's address system.

The Purple Hotel, also known as the Hyatt House Hotel, was a hotel located at 4500 West Touhy Avenue in Lincolnwood, Illinois. Built in 1960, the hotel was Hyatt's first Midwest hotel and became known for its purple brick exterior. The hotel served as Hyatt's flagship Chicago area hotel until the 1970s and featured two restaurants and live music from popular acts. In 1983, Teamsters lawyer and alleged mobster Allen Dorfman was killed in the hotel's parking lot. After a series of ownership changes, the hotel closed in 2007 and was demolished in August 2013. The hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in July 2013, and was delisted in 2020.

Oakton–Skokie is an 'L' station on the CTA's Yellow Line, which serves downtown Skokie. Previously, a station existed at this location which was in operation as part of the North Shore Line's Niles Center Route from 1925 until 1948, and later demolished in 1964. The current station opened on April 30, 2012.

Skokie (; formerly Niles Center) is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States, neighboring the City of Chicago's northern border. Its population, according to the 2020 census, was 67,824. Skokie lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) north of Chicago's downtown Loop. Its name comes from a Potawatomi word for "marsh." For many years, Skokie promoted itself as "The World's Largest Village." Skokie's streets, like that of many suburbs, are largely a continuation of the Chicago street grid, and the village is served by the Chicago Transit Authority, further cementing its connection to the city. Skokie was originally a German-Luxembourger farming community, but was later settled by a sizeable Jewish population, especially after World War II. At its peak in the mid-1960s, 58% of the population was Jewish, the largest percentage of any Chicago suburb. At nearly 30%, Skokie still has a large Jewish population and over a dozen synagogues. It is home to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, which opened in northwest Skokie in 2009.Skokie has received national attention twice for court cases decided by the United States Supreme Court. In the mid-1970s, it was at the center of National Socialist Party of America v. Village of Skokie, in which a Nazi group, backed by the American Civil Liberties Union, invoked the First Amendment in an attempt to schedule a Nazi rally in Skokie. At the time, Skokie had a significant population of Holocaust survivors. Skokie ultimately lost that case, though the rally was never held. In 2001, although Skokie was not a direct party to the case, a decision by the village and 22 other area communities regarding land use led the court to reduce the power of the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

The Skokie Shops are CTA rail shops located at Oakton Street and Hamlin Avenue in Skokie, Illinois. Currently, The Skokie Shops are used for Rail maintenance, inspections, cleaning, repair work, and overhaul of CTA railcars.

Main was a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's Niles Center branch, now known as the Yellow Line. The station was located at Main Street and Niles Center Road in Skokie, Illinois. Main was situated south of Dempster and north of Oakton. Main opened on March 28, 1925, and closed on March 27, 1948, upon the closing of the Niles Center branch.

Lincolnwood (formerly Tessville) is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 13,463. An inner suburb of Chicago, it shares its southern, eastern, and a small section of its western boundary with Chicago, also bordering Skokie to the north and west.

Touhy Avenue is a major street throughout northern Chicago, Illinois as well as the north and northwestern suburbs of the city. It is named for Patrick L. Touhy, a subdivider who was also the son-in-law of Phillip Rogers, an early settler who helped develop Rogers Park. Points of interest along Touhy Avenue include Loyola Park, the Winston Towers, the Lincolnwood Town Center, Lincolnwood Produce & Grocery, Loeber Motors, Hebrew Theological College, Village Crossing Shopping Center, Pointe Plaza, the Shure Headquarters Building, the Leaning Tower YMCA, the Pickwick Theatre, and the northern end of O'Hare International Airport.

Skokie Public Library has been serving the community of Skokie, Illinois, since 1929.In 2008, the library received the National Medal for Museum and Library Service for outstanding community service.The Skokie Public Library offers a range of free online resources that could be used for research, learning, and informational needs. The Skokie Public Library transitioned to a digital reference collection, and now uses the superfluous space as an office suite that is lent hourly to patrons. This allows patrons with start-ups the opportunity to meet with clients. The space contains three rooms, is equipped with WiFi, can accommodate up to fifty people, and opened in November 2012. Its other spaces include an auditorium that seats two hundred and study rooms for both youth and adult patrons. In January 2020, the library began renovations to its building. This work improved accessibility, as well as adding more community meeting rooms, an adult makerspace, inclusive restrooms, and more comfortable seating areas and study spaces. The renovation is scheduled to be completed in early 2021.
