BOLDfest (Bold Older Lesbians and Dykes) is an annual conference held in Vancouver, British Columbia to create community for lesbians over 45 from Canada and the United States. The conference is held by BOLD, a non-profit society, which states that its mission is "to raise the visibility of older lesbians, and to provide a venue to meet and to share information and opportunities for learning, networking, and organizing". BOLDfest was created to create community for older lesbians, combat isolation and age-based exclusion from other facets of the queer community, and to remember and celebrate lesbian histories.BOLD was founded in 2004 by Pat Hogan and Claire Robson, and the annual conference is held in West Vancouver at the West Coast Plaza hotel on the weekend following Labour Day weekend. The annual gathering features workshops, dances, musical performances, and an array of social events. BOLD also features an award for BOLD Woman of the Year, honouring one woman from the North American lesbian community who has made significant contributions and who is underrepresented by the mainstream media. In 2014, BOLD celebrated their 10-year anniversary and honoured Margy Lesher, cofounder of The Lesbian Connection, the longest running worldwide lesbian publication, as BOLD Woman of the Year. Over the years, BOLD has held a number of larger panel discussions during the conference, featuring many prominent lesbian and queer scholars, activists, and figures.

The Paradox Hotel Vancouver, formerly known as the Trump International Hotel and Tower Vancouver, is a residential skyscraper and hotel in Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The 60-story, 188-metre (617 ft) tower in which the hotel is located is at 1151 West Georgia Street and was completed in 2016. The tower is the second tallest building in Vancouver, after the Shangri-La tower located across West Georgia Street. The triangular tower, designed by architect Arthur Erickson, twists gradually, with increasing elevation, up to 45 degrees from bottom to top. Similar to Absolute World in Mississauga, Ontario and Turning Torso in Malmö, Sweden, the building's design resembles a hyperbolic paraboloid. In 2020, the Trump International Hotel and Tower Vancouver closed permanently. Over 250 employees had already been temporarily laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hotel employees had reported that they learned of the hotel closure from the media or they were informed without warning that they had lost their jobs permanently.Minor renovations and rebranding on the Vancouver tower began in late 2021, including the removal of all “TRUMP” branded exterior building signage. The hotel re-opened in April 2022 as the Paradox.

The former First Church of Christ, Scientist is an historic Christian Science church edifice located at 1160 Georgia Street in the west end of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was designed in the Colonial Revival style by the noted Vancouver architectural firm of Matheson and De Guerre. Built in 1918, it is a two-storey brick building with basement. In 2002, First Church of Christ, Scientist sold its building to Coastal Church. On December 20, 2003, The city of Vancouver designated the building a local Heritage site.

Living Shangri-La is a mixed-use skyscraper in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and is the tallest building in the city and province. The 62-storey Shangri-La tower contains a 5-star hotel and its offices on the first 15 floors, with condominium apartment units occupying the rest of the tower. The building's podium complex also includes a spa, Urban Fare specialty grocery store, a Vancouver Art Gallery public display, and a curated public sculpture garden. The high-rise stands 200.86 metres (659 ft) tall and there is a private roof garden on floor 61. It is the 44th tallest building in Canada. As part of the development deal, the Coastal Church, built in 1919 and located at the west end of the site, underwent a $4.4 million restoration.

The MacMillan Bloedel Building is a 27-storey office tower in Vancouver, British Columbia. The building was constructed as the head office of the forestry company MacMillan Bloedel and was designed by Erickson/Massey Architects with Francis Donaldson. The partner-in-charge of design was Arthur Erickson, who conceived the building in 1965. Construction began in October 1966 and the building opened officially on 13 December 1968. The building is one of the earliest works in Erickson's catalogue and is one of Canada's outstanding examples of brutalist architecture. In 2021 the owners renamed the building Arthur Erickson Place, however, the original name remains in common use.

LightShed is a 2004 sculpture by Liz Magor, located on the seawall of Harbour Green Park in the Coal Harbour neighbourhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The work was privately commissioned by Grosvenor Canada Limited but was subjected to the same processes and guidelines required by the City of Vancouver's public art program, including a call for submissions, juried selection and public hearing.

The 1994 Vancouver Stanley Cup Riot occurred in Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on the evening of June 14, 1994, and continued into the following morning. The riot followed Game 7 of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals in which the Vancouver Canucks lost to the New York Rangers. It was Vancouver's first riot since 1972, when the Rolling Stones American Tour 1972 led to confrontations between the police and 2,000 outside the Pacific Coliseum.

The Bentall Centre is a 1.5 million square foot office complex and underground shopping mall, located in Downtown Vancouver's financial district. It is owned and managed by Hudson Pacific Properties. The shopping mall under the complex is known as "The Shops at Bentall Centre", and includes approximately 50 stores and a food court. The mall has a direct connection to Burrard Station of the SkyTrain network.

Royal Centre, also known as RBC Tower or Royal Bank Tower, is a skyscraper complex located at 1055 West Georgia Street in Downtown Vancouver's Financial District. The skyscraper stands at just under 145m tall and 37 storeys. Royal Centre was the tallest building in Vancouver upon completion in 1973 and remained so until it was overtaken by Harbour Centre in 1977. The primary tenant of the complex is RBC's British Columbia headquarters. The building is owned and managed by Brookfield Properties, a major North American commercial real estate company.

The Qube is a building in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was built as the headquarters for Westcoast Transmission Co. in 1969 and won the 1970–71 Design in Steel Award from the American Iron and Steel Institute. It was known as the Westcoast Transmission Building from 1969 to 2000, Duke Energy Building from 2000 to 2004, and then was renovated to condominiums as the Qube in 2005.The building was built from the top down. The thirteen-story core was built first then steel was hung from cables at the top and the 9 occupied floors were successively built downwards.It is considered to be one of Vancouver's most earthquake-resistant structures.The building's address is 1333 W. Georgia Street. It is located in Vancouver's Coal Harbour, halfway between the main business district in Vancouver's Downtown and Stanley Park.
