Howe Sound

The Christie Islet Migratory Bird Sanctuary is a small migratory bird sanctuary on the south coast of British Columbia. It was established in 1962 by Environment and Climate Change Canada. Located in Howe Sound just south of Anvil Island, it is a small rocky island where seabirds nest, and Harbour seals roam the surrounding waters. To protect the birds' nesting habitat, public access to the islet is not allowed, however is it possible to observe birds by boat.

Anvil Island is the third-largest of the islands in Howe Sound, British Columbia, Canada, and the northernmost of the major islands in that sound. It is part of West Howe Sound, Electoral Area F within the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) on the Sunshine Coast. It is located northeast of Gambier Island and southwest of Britannia Beach and west of Porteau Cove. The Defence Islands are to its northeast and are Indian Reserves of the Squamish Nation. Daybreak Point Bible Camp, a summer camp, operates south of the island, and some summer homes are located there.

Halkett Bay Marine Provincial Park is a provincial park off Gambier Island in British Columbia, Canada.

HMCS Annapolis was an Annapolis-class destroyer that served in the Royal Canadian Navy and later, the Canadian Forces. She was the second Canadian naval unit to carry this name. Named for the Annapolis River that flows through Nova Scotia, the ship entered service in 1964, the last of the St. Laurent-class design. Serving through the Cold War, Annapolis was decommissioned in 1998 before going through a protracted legal battle for use as an artificial reef. She was finally scuttled as such in 2015 off the coast of British Columbia.

M Creek, officially M (Yahoo) Creek, is a creek flowing southwest out of the Britannia Range and entering Howe Sound just north of Lions Bay, British Columbia, Canada.

The Defence Islands are two small islands in Howe Sound, British Columbia, Canada, northeast of Anvil Island and in the northern reaches of that sound near Porteau Cove. The easterly and smaller of the two comprises Defence Island Indian Reserve No. 28 (1.7 hectares); the westerly comprises the Kwum Kwum Indian Reserve (unnumbered, 6.20 hectares), both under the administration of the Squamish Nation.

Lions Bay (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) language: Ch'ích'iyúy Elx̱wíḵn, IPA: [t͡ʃʼit͡ʃʼijoj əlχʷeːqn]) is a small residential community in British Columbia, Canada, located between Vancouver and Squamish on the steep eastern shore of Howe Sound. In the 2021 census the community had a population of 1,390, BC's 36th smallest municipality by population. At 2.53 square kilometres (0.98 sq mi), it is BC's 10th smallest municipality by land area. Originally a boat-access summer camping destination for Vancouverites, Lions Bay began to be permanently settled in the 1960s. The community incorporated as a village municipality in January 1971.

Bowyer Island is a small private island in Howe Sound. It comprises Kildare Estates, Bowyer Island Estates, and B and A Estates. It is located east of Bowen Island and Horseshoe Bay. BC Liberal politician, formerly Attorney-General of British Columbia, Geoff Plant is a seasonal resident.Bowyer Island was named by Capt. George Henry Richards of HMS Plumper between 1857 and 1861, after Rear-Admiral George Bowyer, (1740–1800), commander of HMS Barfleur during the Glorious First of June (all the names used in Howe Sound are in honour of the battle of the Glorious First of June).

Porteau Cove Provincial Park is a provincial park located along the eastern shore of Howe Sound in British Columbia, Canada.

Hutt Island is a small island located off the coast of Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada. It was named after Captain John Hutt, captain of HMS Queen in the battle of the Glorious First of June.

Mount Brunswick (officially Brunswick Mountain), 1,788 metres (5,866 ft), is a summit in the Britannia Range of the North Shore Mountains on the Howe Sound side of the latter range. The mountain is located just northwest of the village of Lions Bay and is the namesake of Brunswick Beach, a locality on the Howe Sound shoreline below. Brunswick is often considered the highest peak of the North Shore Mountains. It is accessible via the Howe Sound Crest Trail or the Brunswick Mountain trail from Lions Bay.

The Bowen Island ferry travels between Snug Cove on Bowen Island, and Horseshoe Bay in the District of West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, a trip of three nautical miles across Queen Charlotte Channel. A scheduled ferry has been in operation since 1921, when Bowen Island was a popular holiday destination. Prior to that year, transportation to the island was by steamship from Vancouver, with only one trip daily. The Bowen Island ferry used a fleet of small passenger vessels until 1956, when a single car ferry began passenger service, and that ferry began carrying vehicles in 1958. In 2022 the route carried in excess of 1.2 million passengers plus 570,000 vehicles.The Bowen Island ferry has no official or common name, and is only numbered as route 8, though this is likely intended more for internal documentation. It is currently run with the use of a single vessel, the Queen of Capilano.
