The Dümmer Nature Park (German: Naturpark Dümmer) in North Germany is located in the Lower Saxon districts of Diepholz and Vechta and the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke. It is about 34 kilometres (21 mi) northeast of Osnabrück and lies between Diepholz and Bohmte, Bersenbrück and Rahden. The nature park covers an area of almost 500 square kilometres (190 sq mi) and is bisected from north to south by the Weser-Ems watershed. Within the boundary of its protected landscape are the Damme Hills, the Dümmer lake (the focus of the nature park), the Stemweder Hills and numerous bogs such as the Großes Moor and the Oppenweher Moor). The Dümmer Nature Park and the Dümmer Lake in particular is a breeding and resting site for many migrating birds. Numerous water ditches as well as the Hunte cross the park area. The extensive raised bogs have a unique flora and fauna. Discoveries from the New Stone Age indicate that people were attracted here in prehistoric times by the fertile soils and even settled here.

Diepholz Air Base (ICAO: ETND) is a German Air Force military air base, located 3.3 km southwest of Diepholz in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a joint-use civil-military facility, also being a civil airport. Between 1968 and 1996, the Diepholz Airfield Circuit, a temporary motorsports venue, was regularly laid out on the airfield.

The Diepholz Airfield Circuit was an auto racing circuit in the south-west of the town of Diepholz, Germany. It was a temporary circuit on a military airfield, which is still in use by the German military today. The full length of the runway was used as part of the circuit with a fast double chicane and the start/finish straight which included a temporary pit lane going down one side of the runway. There were no pit garages or permanent racing related buildings on site. Racing first took place at Diepholz in 1968, due to a lack of permanent circuits in Germany. Used mainly for Touring car racing, Diepholz was a regular venue on the calendar for the DTM series. When the DTM, then known as the FIA International Touring Car Championship, collapsed at the end of 1996, there was little use for the circuit. The circuit was very similar to those at Burke Lakefront Airport and Edmonton City Centre Airport.
