Harrison High School (Arkansas)

The city of Harrison is the county seat of Boone County, Arkansas, United States. It is named after Marcus LaRue Harrison, a surveyor who laid out the city along Crooked Creek at Stifler Springs. According to 2019 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city was 13,069, up from 12,943 at the 2010 census and it is the 30th largest city in Arkansas based on official 2019 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. Harrison is the principal city of the Harrison Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Boone and Newton counties. The community has a history of racism: there were two race riots in the early 20th century and an influx of white supremacist organizations during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Because of this, a number of sources have called it "the most racist town in the United States".

The Duncan House is a historic house in 610 West Central Avenue in Harrison, Arkansas. It is a 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, with asymmetrical massing and a busy roofline typical of the Queen Anne style. Distinctive features include metal cresting on the ridge lines, and a wraparound porch with tapered columns and turned balustrade. An octagonal cupola caps the roof. The house was built in 1893 by William Duncan, a local builder, for his own use. It is one of Harrison's few remaining houses of the period which has retained its Queen Anne features.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

KHOZ (900 AM) is a radio station licensed to Harrison, Arkansas, United States. It carries a classic country format. The station is currently owned by Paul Coates and Mike Huckabee, through licensee Ozark Mountain Media Group, LLC.On January 6, 2019, KHOZ changed their format from adult standards to classic country, branded as "Bootz 94.9" (simulcast on FM translator K235CE 94.9 FM Harrison).

Harrison School District No. 1 is a public school district in Boone County, Arkansas, United States which serves the city of Harrison along with other unincorporated areas within the county. The Harrison School District serves one large contiguous area and a smaller non-contiguous area in the southeast portion of the county. It also includes a section of Newton County.

The Grubb Springs Community Building, formerly the Grubb Springs School, is a historic school building in Boone County, Arkansas. The building is a single-story stone gable-roofed structure located northeast of the junction of Arkansas Highways 43 and 397, west of Harrison. Construction began on the building in 1892 by the local Methodist congregation, intending its use as a church. The land and unfinished building were sold in 1896 to the local school district, which completed the building. It was used as a school until 1944, and has since been converted into a community center.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It was deemed significant as a surviving stone one-room schoolhouse example.

The Evans-Kirby House is a historic house at 611 South Pine Street in Harrison, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood-frame structure on a sandstone foundation, with a busy roofline and asymmetrical massing typical of the Queen Anne style. The roof is punctuated with five dormers of different sizes and shapes, and the walls are finished with clapboards and decoratively-cut shingles. The porch is adorned with spindled friezes and brackets. The property also includes a period barn/carriage house and garage, the latter over an original smoke cellar. The house was built in 1895 for Dr. E.L. Evans, who sold it in 1906 to his brother-in-law, Dr. Frank Kirby.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The Marine Corps Legacy Museum was located on the northwest corner of the Town Square in Harrison, Arkansas, United States. It closed in 2010.

The Lyric Theater is a theater located on W. Rush Street in Harrison, Boone County, Arkansas. Designed and constructed by J. W. Bass of Detroit, the Lyric was built in 1929 and adorned with murals by J. W. Zelm (though mythology became prevalent in the area that they had been painted by an unknown hobo). The theater was built as the first cinema in the area to show talking pictures and operated under the same family's ownership until 1977, though as a franchise of different chains.Following its closure due to an inability to compete with the larger movie theaters, the theater was scheduled for demolition. After more than two decades of disuse, the Lyric reopened as a live performance venue in 1999 when the Ozark Arts Council purchased it for $150,000 and began operating the space. Renovations focused on updating the space for modern use without losing the historic character, including the murals, and these efforts were recognized by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. The theater has been lauded as the "Roots Music Palace of the Ozarks."

The Hotel Seville is a historic hotel building at Vine and Ridge Streets in downtown Harrison, Arkansas. It is an L-shaped three story wood-frame structure, finished in brick and terra cotta veneer with distinctive Spanish Revival (Mission) styling. Its eastern entry porch is supported by polychrome terra cotta pillars, and portions of the exterior are finished in terra cotta tile with inset geometric patterns. Built in 1929, the building is one of the most elaborate examples of Spanish Revival architecture in the state. It was used as a hotel until the mid-1970s, when it was converted to elderly housing. It has since been converted back to a hotel.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

The Boone County Courthouse is a historic courthouse in Harrison, Arkansas. It is a two-story brick structure, designed by noted Arkansas architect Charles L. Thompson and built in 1907. It is Georgian Revival in style, with a hip roof above a course of dentil molding, and bands of cast stone that mark the floor levels of the building. It has a projecting gabled entry section, three bays wide, with brick pilasters separating the center entrance from the flanking windows. The gable end has a dentillated pediment, and has a bullseye window at the center.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Harrison Courthouse Square Historic District is an area of Harrison, Arkansas. It is known by residents simply as "the Square". The Harrison Courthouse Square Historic District includes the 1911 Boone County Courthouse, two pharmacies, several clothing stores and restaurants, and a Marine Corps Legacy Museum. The District also has a bank and the Lyric Theater. The District is the site of several annual festivals, including Crawdad Days and the Fall Festival. Several war memorials stand on the Courthouse lawn. The Square is known as the site of the shooting of famous outlaw Henry Starr. Most of the square's buildings were built between 1895 and 1948, earlier buildings having been predominantly wooden in construction. The district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999 has 54 historically significant buildings, including most of those facing the 1911 courthouse, and a few on the immediately adjacent city blocks.

The Boone County Jail is a historic jail building at Central Ave. and Willow St. in Harrison, Arkansas. It is a two-story red brick building, built in 1914. Its design has been attributed to prominent Arkansas architect Charles L. Thompson. Its hip roof is finished in red tile, as is the roof of the single-story porch sheltering the main entrance. The jail was laid out to house the jailer on the first floor, and the prisoners on the second.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 for its architecture.
