Gordie Howe Bridge (Saskatoon)

The Grand Trunk Bridge is a Canadian steel trestle railway bridge that spans the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It was built in 1908 as part of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway project. The GTP was merged into the Canadian National Railway (CN) in 1920; as such, the structure is also referred to informally as the CN Railway Bridge. The bridge is the southernmost of the city's two rail bridges and is situated between the Queen Elizabeth Power Station on the upstream (west) side and Diefenbaker Park on the downstream (east) side. CN placed a chain link fence on both sides of the bridge as a result of people trespassing on the walkways. Based upon anecdotal evidence – that is, visual inspection of city maps – it appears to have the longest span of any Saskatoon bridge. The 2012 southwest extension of the city's Circle Drive freeway included the Gordie Howe Bridge, built parallel to the Grand Trunk Bridge. In 2016, the city's original Traffic Bridge, opened in 1907, was disassembled to make way for a replacement bridge. As of that moment, the Grand Trunk Bridge became Saskatoon's oldest surviving bridge (it opened several months before the city's second rail bridge).

The Diefenbaker Management Area is an area of Saskatoon, to the west of the Exhibition subdivision. The area includes Diefenbaker Park and the Nutana Pioneer Cemetery. The park includes a medium-sized hill which is used for tobogganing and snowboarding, and the park itself is a frequently-used venue for picnics and public events and performances.

Queen Elizabeth Power Station is a natural gas-fired station owned by SaskPower, located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The station was called the South Saskatchewan River Generating Station but renamed the Queen Elizabeth Power Station at the time of commissioning in 1959.

The Saskatoon Minor Football Field at Gordon Howe Park (formerly known as Gordie Howe Bowl) is a football stadium located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It was opened September 30, 1960, built on land repossessed by the city in 1931 for unpaid taxes. It is the home of the Saskatoon Hilltops, who play in the Prairie Football Conference of the Canadian Junior Football League and is also used for high school football. It is located on the southwest corner of the city. The park is named after Gordie Howe, a Saskatoon native and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Saskatoon Sanatorium was a tuberculosis sanatorium established in 1925 by the Saskatchewan Anti-Tuberculosis League as the second Sanatorium in the province in Wellington Park south or the Holiday Park neighborhood of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1929 Saskatchewan became the first jurisdiction to implement universal free diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, leading to better control of the disease by the three sanatoriums in the Province (Fort San, Prince Albert Sanatorium and the Saskatoon Sanatorium).With the development of antibiotics and vaccines for tuberculosis, the need for a sanatorium diminished. The last patient was discharged in 1988 and the sanatorium was closed. The Saskatchewan Anti-Tuberculosis League evolved into The Lung Association of Saskatchewan and focused on other respiratory conditions and prevention programs.The building had deteriorated to the point where it was not cost-effective to retain it as a medical facility. This led the province to engage in a public consultation to determine if other uses for the building could be found. The building was demolished on August 1989. The grass bowl area in front of the building still remains as park land. The Bowerman House, used as the residence for the sanatorium superintendent, remains and was declared a municipal heritage property.

Cairns Field is a stadium in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is primarily used for baseball and most recently the home of the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets of the Western Major Baseball League until their demise in 2014. The stadium currently does not have a tenant, until Saskatoon joins the WCBL again in 2024. Cairns Field features artificial lighting, electronic scoreboard, irrigated and groomed grass infield, excellent drainage, an 8-foot outfield fence with wind screening and dimensions of 335 feet down each line and 400 feet in center field. The supporting facilities at the field include stands seating 2,000 fans, a clubhouse with four dressing rooms, concession, washrooms, showers, media press box with a public address system, an umpires' room, warm-up mounds and a permanent batting cage. The ballpark hosted for the 2005 Canadian National Junior Championships.

The Bowerman House (built in 1907) is a designated Municipal Heritage Property located in the Holiday Park, neighborhood of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The home is of a crafts-man "Western Stick" style. The house was built as a hunting lodge by Allan Bowerman, graduate from Kingston Military College, first postmaster in Saskatoon on the west side of the river, and member of Saskatoon's first town council (1903 – 1905). Bowerman was also responsible for the development of the Canada Building. The home was designed by Walter William LaChance. Bowerman sold the home in 1917 after the end of a construction boom in the city. In 1923 the building was obtained by the Saskatchewan Anti-Tuberculosis League and became part of the Saskatoon Sanatorium serving as a doctor's residence until 1987. It was used as the sanatorium superintendent residence, for Dr. Boughton and his family, from 1925 to 1959.The property is now owned by the Meewasin Valley Authority and is used as a private residence.

Marquis Downs was a horse racing venue in the Exhibition subdivision of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It featured thoroughbred horse racing.

Prairieland Park is an events centre on the south-central edge of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The park is located in the Exhibition neighbourhood of Saskatoon. Each year the park hosts an annual Saskatoon Exhibition variably called "The Ex" (previously it was known as Pioneer Days). During the remainder of the year most of the park venues are rented out to special events. Some events held are Western Canadian Crop Production Show, Saskatchewan indemand trade show, Saskatoon Fall Fair cattle show and sale, Pet Expo, Chuckwagon Racing, and the Prairieland Junior Ag Showcase.The Agriculture Department is heavily involved in the community host 4H events.It currently hosts 321 events a year, which attracts 1.6 million people.

The Exhibition subdivision of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, is located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River and was developed between the two major World Wars. To the west is the Diefenbaker Management Area which boasts the Diefenbaker park and Pioneer Cemetery. The park includes a medium-sized hill which is used for tobogganing and snowboarding, and the park itself is a frequently-used venue for picnics and public events and performances. The Exhibition community is also known as Thornton, after a (now-demolished) public elementary school that formerly served the area and early in its history also went by the name Bellevue. The area also has an Esso Circle K (formerly a Petro Canada Mac’s) located on the corner of Ruth Street East and Lorne Avenue

Furdale, Saskatchewan is an unincorporated community adjacent to the southern city limits of Saskatoon, west of Highway 219 and on the east bank of the South Saskatchewan River. Furdale primarily consists of acreages and luxury homes, and is considered a major bedroom community of Saskatoon. A similar unincorporated bedroom community, Grasswood Park, lies immediately to the east. Furdale is also the location of many of the Saskatoon area's major horse stable and breeding facilities. The province is planning to build a Perimeter Highway through Furdale in the coming years, which has sparked controversy among residents. Upgrades to Hwy. 219 (also known as Lorne Avenue) were completed during the summer of 2007 in order to handle the large amounts of traffic back and forth to the new Dakota Dunes Casino. An extension to the Circle Drive freeway, scheduled to open in 2013, will also benefit residents. Furdale contains virtually no commercial or industrial development, with nearby Saskatoon offering these services. Furdale also relies on Saskatoon for its media, emergency services, etc. Primary access to Furdale is via Lorne Avenue/Highway 219 from Saskatoon, and Grasswood Road from the east which provides a link to Highway 11.

King George is an older inner city neighbourhood located near the centre of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It consists mostly of low-density, single detached dwellings. As of 2011, the area is home to 1,902 residents. The neighbourhood is considered a lower-income area with an average family income of $47,581, an average dwelling value of $146,941 and a home ownership rate of 69.1%.
