Arnold Burying Ground

The United Congregational Church (also called First Congregational Church, Second Congregational Church and Newport Congregational Church) is a historic former church building in Newport, Rhode Island. The congregation was formerly affiliated with the United Church of Christ (UCC). Built in 1857, the church was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2012, in recognition for the unique interior decorations executed in 1880–81 by John La Farge.

The John Tillinghast House is an historic colonial house in Newport, Rhode Island. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, built in 1760 for John Tillinghast, a wealthy merchant. A high-quality example of academic Georgian architecture, the house was a (often temporary) home for a number of notable people during and after the American Revolutionary War. It was probably occupied by the Marquis de Chastellux, an engineer in the French Army while he was stationed in Newport, and by General Nathanael Greene, who hosted George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette on a visit to Newport. From 1821 to 1824 it was home to William C. Gibbs while he was Governor of Rhode Island.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 11, 1973.

The Captain John Mawdsley House, located at 228 Spring Street, is one of the oldest houses in Newport, Rhode Island. The earliest rear part of the house was built on Spring Street before 1680, probably by Jireh Bull. Bull married Godsgift Arnold, daughter of Gov. Benedict Arnold. Captain John Mawdsley, a privateer, lived in the house in the eighteenth century and constructed the large front addition to the house. The Mawdsley House is located on 228 Spring Street and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The house was owned by Historic New England (SPNEA) until it was sold in the late twentieth century.

The Newport Tower, also known as the Old Stone Mill, is a round stone tower located in Touro Park in Newport, Rhode Island, the remains of a windmill built in the mid-17th century. It has received attention due to speculation that it is actually several centuries older and would thus represent evidence of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact. Carbon dating shows this belief to be incorrect. Other names given to the tower include Round Tower, Touro Tower, Viking Tower, and Newport Stone Tower.

St. Mary's Church, officially the Church of the Holy Name of Mary, Our Lady of the Isle, is a historic Catholic parish church complex at 14 William Street, the corner of Spring Street and Memorial Boulevard, in Newport, Rhode Island within the Diocese of Providence. It is the church of the oldest Catholic parish in the state. The church is also notable for hosting the wedding of Jacqueline Bouvier and Senator, later President, John F. Kennedy in 1953.

Trinity Church, on Queen Anne Square in Newport, Rhode Island, is a historic parish church in the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island. Founded in 1698, it is the oldest Episcopal parish in the state. In the mid 18th century, the church was home to the largest Anglican congregation in New England.The current Georgian building was designed by architect Richard Munday and constructed in 1725–26. It one of the largest extant 18th century New England churches and has been designated a National Historic Landmark since 1968.

The Hotel Viking, or The Hotel Viking, in Newport, Rhode Island, is a historic hotel. It was opened in 1926. Investors included local businessmen Harry Titus, James O’Connell, and others, plus summer vacationers in the area such as William H. Vanderbilt, who formed "The American Hotels Corporation" to issue public stock and supervise construction during. It was renovated in the mid-1900s (including to add an outdoor pool), in the mid-1990s (including to add a conference center facility), in 2007 (to restore its rooms to "Gilded Age splendor") and again in 2016.It is a member of the Historic Hotels of America.It is a five-story Colonial Revival building with, in 2020, 208 rooms or suites. The facility includes a fine-dining restaurant, a lounge, a seasonal bar & kitchen, and regular afternoon tea service in its Garden Room.North Shore magazine said in 2021 that the hotel has both historic and modern wings, and "looks great for its age".It is located on Bellevue Street, a large part of which is included in Bellevue Avenue Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Bellevue Avenue Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and was further designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark District in 1976. The district includes The Breakers, which is a Vanderbilt family mansion, and numerous other properties of the Gilded Age era, but not the Hotel Viking.

Shiloh Baptist Church (also known as Trinity School House) is a historic former school building and former African American Baptist church in Newport, Rhode Island.

Matthew Perry Monument is a statue commemorating Commodore Matthew C. Perry. The statue is situated in Touro Park facing Bellevue Avenue in the heart of Newport, Rhode Island and was designed by John Quincy Adams Ward in 1869. The pedestal was designed by Richard Morris Hunt.The statue is described: Standing figure of Perry wearing his Naval uniform with tassels on the shoulders and a cape jacket draped over his proper right shoulder. His proper left hand rests on the hilt of a sword. The circular base has four bronze bas-reliefs that represent events in Perry's life: Africa (1843), Mexico (1846) and the Treaty with Japan (1[8]54)--Reception of President's letter and negotiation of the Treaty.

The Lucas–Johnston House (also known as Augustus Lucas House) is an historic colonial house in downtown Newport, Rhode Island.

The Southern Thames Historic District encompasses the commercial and residential area immediately to the south of the colonial center of Newport, Rhode Island. This area, covering about 135 acres (55 ha), was developed both residentially and commercially between about 1850 and 1920, with the majority of its growth coming in the late 19th century. It is characterized by densely built streets, including Thames Street, Newport's major north–south thoroughfare. The district includes the southern portion of Newport's waterfront, extending south from Memorial Boulevard along Thames and Spring Streets to Morton Street, and west to Marchant Street in its southernmost section. The district's housing stock and commercial architecture are largely vernacular wood-frame structures, set close to the sidewalk on small lots. The waterfront area is composed of wharves with warehouses and other structures, many of which have been converted to commercial use. One of the most prominent buildings in the district is the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, designed by Ralph Adams Cram and built in 1912–13.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. The northern portion of the district (from Pope Street north), is also listed as part of the Newport Historic District, a National Historic Landmark District.
