Waldron Island

Krumdiack Homestead (also known as the Cook Property) is located on the northern coast of Waldron Island, Washington between Fishery Point and Point Hammond. It was built in 1890 by Friedrich Krumdiak. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuge is in the San Juan Islands of the Salish Sea, north of Puget Sound, in the State of Washington. Created in 1976, it comprises 83 small, uninhabited islands, scattered throughout the San Juans, with a combined area of approximately 454 acres (1.84 km2). The Refuge is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as one of six in the Washington Maritime National Wildlife Refuge Complex. All but three of the islands are designated wilderness area in the San Juan Wilderness (353 acres (1.43 km2)), also established in 1976. Visitors are prohibited, and boaters must keep at least 200 yards from the shore to avoid disturbing the wildlife. Excluded are two state parks managed jointly with the Washington State Park System, five acres of Matia Island and Turn Island; Smith Island; and Minor Island.The habitats of the various islands range from small rocks to larger grassy or forested islands, some with high cliffs that provide nesting sites for a large variety of marine birds.

Flattop Island is an island in the San Juan Islands of the U.S. state of Washington.The name was given by Charles Wilkes during the Wilkes Expedition of 1838–1842, describing the island's terrain. During World War II, the island was used for practice bombing, using sacks of flour.

Skull Island is the name of two small islands in the San Juan Archipelago in the U.S. state of Washington. The northernmost Skull Island is located off the coast of Orcas Island in Massacre Bay, the most northern extension of the island's West Sound. It is identified as 3.2-acre (1.3 ha) Skull Island State Park Property by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. It was named for holding skulls and bones of a band of Lummi who were killed by raiding Haida in 1858. Since 2013, it has been part of the San Juan Islands National Monument.Another Skull Island in the same archipelago is located exactly fourteen miles south-southeast at 48°27′56″N 122°49′59″W in Mud Bay, part of Lopez Sound, between the Sperry Peninsula of Lopez Island and Fortress Island.

Deer Harbor is an unincorporated community on Orcas Island in San Juan County, Washington, United States. As with most San Juan Islands communities, Deer Harbor is known for its recreation and tourism, including kayaking, whale watching, and fishing. Many people fish for Dungeness crab, rock crab, and shrimp there. Deer Harbor is assigned the ZIP code 98243.

Jones Island State Park is a Washington state park coterminous with Jones Island, one of the San Juan Islands in San Juan County, Washington, USA. It is located one mile (1.6 km) west of the southwestern corner of Orcas Island and accessible only by boat. The island has a land area of 188 acres (76 ha) and no resident population. The island was named by the Wilkes Expedition in 1841 for naval officer Jacob Jones.

Since August 20, 2007, at least 20 detached human feet have been found on the coasts of the Salish Sea in British Columbia, Canada, and Washington, US. The first discovery, on August 20, 2007, was on Jedediah Island in British Columbia. Feet have been discovered on the coasts of islands in British Columbia, and in the US cities of Tacoma and Seattle. In Canada, the B.C. Coroners Service said in December 2017 that foul play had been ruled out by authorities in all investigations and that the feet came from people who died either in accidents and suicides or possibly gangland reprisal murders or attacks on drifters, and the feet detached during the normal decomposition process. The feet were usually found in sneakers, which the coroner thought were responsible for both keeping the feet buoyant enough to eventually wash ashore, and for giving the feet enough protection from decomposition to be found relatively intact.Prior to the recent seeming rush of feet washing ashore, there have been earlier instances going back more than a century, such as a leg in a boot that was found on a Vancouver beach in 1887.

Freeman Island is a tiny island in the San Juan Islands of the U.S. state of Washington, west of Orcas Island. It is part of the San Juan Islands National Monument (Bureau of Land Management). The name was given by Charles Wilkes during the Wilkes Expedition of 1838–1842, originally as Freeman's Island, in honor of J.D. Freeman, the sailmaker of the expedition's Peacock.Freeman island sits just off YMCA Camp Orkila, and is a popular rowboat destination for the campers.

McConnell Island is one of the San Juan Islands in San Juan County, Washington, United States. It is located less than 1 mile (1,600 m) from the southwest end of Orcas Island. The island was the former private reserve of Thomas Gordon Thompson. A portion of it is currently a nature preserve.

The Wasp Islands are a group of small islands in the San Juan Islands of the U.S. state of Washington. The name was given by Charles Wilkes during the Wilkes Expedition of 1838–1842, in honor of the sloop Wasp, a sloop of war commanded by Johnathan Blakeley during the War of 1812.
