Liverpool, West Derby is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Ian Byrne of the Labour Party.

Deysbrook Barracks was a regular army barracks in West Derby in Liverpool. The barracks was used by 59th (Volunteers) Signal Regiment of the Royal Signals until around 2000.

Melwood, in West Derby, Liverpool, was Liverpool Football Club's training ground from the 1950s until November 2020. It was not attached to The Liverpool F.C. Academy, which is at Kirkby. Melwood was bought by affordable housing development company Torus in 2019, as Liverpool invested in the Kirkby training ground so the First Team and Academy could train together, with increased space and better facilities. Liverpool's First Team and Academy have trained at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby since November 2020. Liverpool's plans to move in the summer of 2020 had been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.The Melwood ground previously belonged to St Francis Xavier, a local school. Melwood was named after two priests, Father Melling and Father Woodlock, who taught football at the school's playing fields.

On 22 August 2007, Rhys Milford Jones, an eleven-year-old English boy, was murdered in Liverpool while walking home from football practice. Sean Mercer, aged 16 at the time of the shooting, went on trial on 2 October 2008, and was found guilty of murder on 16 December. Mercer was sentenced to life imprisonment serving a minimum of 22 years.

Liverpool Buccaneers Rugby League Football Club are an amateur rugby league club from West Derby in Liverpool. The team plays home games at Sefton RUFC in West Derby. Currently they play in the North West Premier division of the Rugby League Conference and the North West Merit League.

Croxteth is a Liverpool City Council Ward in the Liverpool West Derby Parliamentary constituency. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 14,561. The ward boundary was changed in 2004 when the number of councillors was reduced. The pre 2004 Croxteth ward was essentially West Derby village, whereas the post 2004 ward was based on the Croxteth 'Council' estate and the Croxteth Country Park estate.

St Paul's Church is in Town Row, West Derby, a suburb of Liverpool, Merseyside, England. It is an active Roman Catholic parish church in Pastoral Area 5 of the Archdiocese of Liverpool. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Broughton Hall is a Gothic house at Yew Tree Lane West Derby, Liverpool, England, built in 1860 for Gustav Christian Schwabe, a Liverpool merchant originating from Hamburg. The conservatory added between 1870 and 1880 is of special interest. The house was used as a preparatory school run by Roman Catholic nuns, but now Broughton Hall High School is an all-girls Roman Catholic comprehensive school with boys in the sixth form.

West Derby ( (listen) DAR-bee) is a suburb of Liverpool, England. It is located East of the city and is also a Liverpool City Council ward. At the 2011 Census, the population was 14,382.
