Christ Church is a Church of England church in Wanstead, east London. It was built as a chapel of ease to St Mary the Virgin, whose parish it still shares, to meet population expansion in the Snaresbrook area caused by the railway boom.Built at the height of the Gothic revival, its architecture is the geometric style of the late 13th century. It was designed by George Gilbert Scott, who also designed the nearby Infant Orphan Asylum, now Snaresbrook Crown Court. The foundation stone was laid on 18 May 1860 by Joseph Wigram (Bishop of Rochester and brother of William Pitt Wigram, then rector of Wanstead) and it was consecrated on 19 July 1861 by Archibald Tait, Bishop of London. An extra bay was added to the nave's original four in 1867, along with a south aisle to match the original north aisle. Two years later a tower and spire followed, though the vestries were only added in 1889.

Wanstead is a London Underground station in Wanstead in the London Borough of Redbridge, east London. on the Hainault loop of the Central line. Towards Central London the next station is Leytonstone. Towards Woodford it is Redbridge. It is in Travelcard Zone 4. It opened on 14 December 1947 as an extension of the Central line to form the new part of the Hainault loop.

Wanstead United Reformed Church is a United Reformed place of worship in Wanstead, east London. It was originally built as St Luke's Church, on a site in Euston Road, St Pancras, London, in 1856-61, to the design of John Johnson. In 1866-67, it was dismantled and re-erected in modified form on its present site, also to a design by Johnson, to make way for St Pancras Station. It was designated as a Grade II listed building in 2009.

Wanstead () is a town in east London, England, in the London Borough of Redbridge. It borders South Woodford to the north, Redbridge to the east and Forest Gate to the south, with Leytonstone and Walthamstow to the west. It is located 8 miles northeast of Charing Cross.Historically an ancient parish in the Becontree hundred of Essex, it was granted urban district status in 1894, and formed part of the Municipal Borough of Wanstead and Woodford between 1937 and 1965, when it became part of the London Borough of Redbridge. Wanstead was a key part of the M11 link road protest from 1993 to 1995, which ended with the construction of the A12 that runs through the town. The area contains a number of open spaces that are part of Epping Forest, including the grasslands of Wanstead Flats and the woodland of Wanstead Park. Wanstead Park was the site of a Roman villa, and later Wanstead Hall, the manor house of Wanstead Manor. The park, with artificial lakes, was formerly part of the estate of a large stately home Wanstead House (1722-1825), built by Richard Child, 1st Earl Tylney.

Snaresbrook is a London Underground station on the Central line, located in the area of Snaresbrook in East London. The station is in Zone 3/4, between Leytonstone and South Woodford stations.

St Mary the Virgin, Wanstead is a Church of England church in Wanstead, east London. It is located on Overton Drive and now shares its parish with Christ Church, Wanstead. It is the only Grade I listed building in the London Borough of Redbridge.The parish is first recorded in 1208, but its medieval church was replaced 70 foot to the north by the present building between 1787 and 1790, on a plot donated from his estate by James Tylney-Long. It was designed by architect Thomas Hardwick. Its foundation stone was laid on 13 July 1787, followed by a reception at Wanstead House, and it was completed on 24 June 1790, with a consecration ceremony led by Beilby Porteus, bishop of London. After the new church was completed, its medieval predecessor was demolished, though the latter's large monument to Josiah Child was moved to the new church.The sculptor Joseph Wilton and the Royal Navy Vice-Admiral Robert Plampin are buried in the churchyard.

Snaresbrook Crown Court is a historic, Grade II listed building situated in Snaresbrook, an area within the London Borough of Redbridge. It is one of 12 Crown Court centres serving Greater London and is designated as a third-tier court. It is set within 18 acres of grounds and has its own lake, known as Eagle Pond. It operates 20 court rooms and manages 7,000 cases a year, making it the busiest Crown Court centre in the United Kingdom. Construction of the building began in 1841 and finished two years later. It was built in the Jacobean gothic style by the English architects George Gilbert Scott and William Bonython Moffatt, who were prolific designers of workhouses, hospitals and churches. Snaresbrook Crown Court was originally built as an orphanage at the behest of the philanthropist Andrew Reed who named it the Infant Orphanage Asylum; later it became the Royal National Children's Foundation. Under various titles, it remained an orphanage until 1938 when it became the Royal Wanstead School. The building continued as a school until 1971 when it passed into the ownership of British government who converted the building into a crown court at a cost of £1.6m in 1973. The building opened as a crown court on 26 November 1974. Since becoming a court, the building has had various extensions added externally and has received many alterations to its interior. In 1988 an outer annex, not connected to the original building, was built to accommodate further court rooms, to a cost of £3 million. The court is located on Hollybush Hill, and is opposite the junction to High Street, Wanstead. The nearest tube station is Snaresbrook on the Central line.

The Green Man is a pub and road junction on High Road, Leytonstone, London. The pub has been rebranded as part of the O'Neill's chain. The current 1920s building replaced an earlier public house, close to the original site; which was built around 1668 and mentioned by Daniel Defoe. A statue called Leaf Memory by Stephen Duncan was erected in 2001 at Grove Road and High Road in Bushwood depicting the Green Man sat with head lowered in his arms.

Wanstead Hospital was a former NHS hospital situated on Hermon Hill in Snaresbrook, not far from Wanstead in north-east London.

Sukkat Shalom Reform Synagogue, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a Reform Jewish community based in Wanstead in the London Borough of Redbridge. Its rabbi (since 2008) is Rabbi Larry Becker.The synagogue is housed in the restored Grade II* listed building that had been the chapel of Wanstead Hospital (previously the Merchant Seamen's Orphan's Asylum).

Bushwood is an area in the north of Leytonstone in East London; determined by the curved boundary of the road called Bushwood along the edge of Wanstead Flats, Lister Road to the south and High Road, Leytonstone to the west. The area has the Browning Road Conservation Area, that contains what remains of the historic hamlet of Leyton-atte-stone. The area has many tree-lined streets with Victorian and Edwardian houses, which continue to attract professionals and young families. The area is popular for its proximity to Wanstead Flats and Wanstead Park, quick access to restaurants, cafés and shops, and transport links into central London via the Central Line. Bushwood has a residents' association, covering the approximately 1500 houses in the area.

Leyton and Wanstead is a constituency created in 1997 and represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2010 by John Cryer of the Labour Party.
