Coedffranc North is an electoral ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. is a part of the Coedffranc community and falls within the parliamentary constituency of Aberavon. Coedffranc North is bounded by the wards of Dyffryn to the northeast; Coedffranc Central and Coedffranc West to the south; and Llansamlet of Swansea to the west. Coedffranc Central is an electoral ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. Coedffranc Central is a part of the Coedffranc community and falls within the parliamentary constituency of Aberavon. Coedffranc Central is bounded by the wards of Coedffranc West to the southwest; Coedffranc North to the north; Dyffryn to the east; and Neath East and Briton Ferry West to the south east. Almost all the ward is built up consisting of residential areas and shopping streets covering the centre of the village of Skewen. Coedffranc Central was an electoral ward of West Glamorgan until 4 May 1989, when Coedffranc Central and Coedffranc West became a Coedffranc ward under The County of West Glamorgan (Electoral Arrangements) Order 1989. Coedffranc Central and Coedffranc West were recreated for the 1995 elections.

Skewen (Welsh: Sgiwen) is a village within the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, in Wales. The village is served by Skewen railway station and has its own rugby club.

The Neath Abbey television relay station is sited on a hill north of the town of Neath. It was originally built in the 1980s as a fill-in relay for UHF analogue television serving the parts of the town of Neath to its east with its vertically polarised signal, and the parts of the town to its northwest with its horizontally polarised signal. This is an unusual layout, chosen to avoid signal degradation from reflections off the cliffs to the north. The site consists of a 12 m self-supporting lattice mast standing on land which is itself about 80 m above sea level. The Neath Abbey transmission station is owned and operated by Arqiva. Neath Abbey transmitter re-radiates the signal received off-air from Kilvey Hill about 10 km to the southwest. When it came, the digital switchover process for Neath Abbey duplicated the timing at the parent station, with the first stage taking place on Wednesday 12 August 2009 and the second stage was completed on Wednesday 9 September 2009, with the Kilvey Hill transmitter-group becoming the first in Wales to complete digital switchover. After the switchover process, analogue channels had ceased broadcasting permanently and the Freeview digital TV services were radiated at an ERP of 10 W each.

Light Vessel 72 (also known by its identification number LV72) was a light vessel of Trinity House, a British lighthouse authority. Constructed in Sunderland in 1903 she served as a navigational beacon in the British Isles until the Second World War. From June 1944 she was positioned off Normandy to mark a mineswept shipping lane used for the Operation Overlord landings. After the war she was stationed in the Bristol Channel until sold for scrap in 1973. Saved by the intervention of a scrapyard manager, she has lain on a mud bank in Neath, Wales, ever since. Several proposals have been made to restore her.

Nation Radio Wales is a regional radio station, broadcasting to south and west Wales on FM and across Wales on DAB. It is owned and operated by Nation Broadcasting and broadcasts from studios near the St Hilary transmitter on the outskirts of Cowbridge.The station's music playlist originally consisted of new and classic guitar-led music, reflecting the franchise won originally by XFM, but in 2015, the format was changed to a broader format including mainstream pop music. As of September 2023, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 150,000, according to RAJAR.

Neath Abbey railway station served the town of Neath, in the historical county of Glamorganshire, Wales, from 1863 to 1936 on the Vale of Neath Railway.

Ynysygerwn Football Club is a Welsh football club based in Aberdulais, situated approximately two miles from Neath town centre. The club currently competes in the Ardal Leagues South West, the third tier of the Welsh football pyramid. Ynysygerwn has three senior football sides along with a youth academy which runs teams from Under 6s to Under 18s. The first team currently play their home games at Llandarcy Academy of Sport, the training ground of the Ospreys rugby union team, while the rest of the teams play at Ynysygerwn Cricket Club. The club's president is Tottenham Hotspur and Wales player Ben Davies.
