On January 1, 2006, Chaudfontaine had a total population of 21,012. The total area is 25.52 km² which gives a population density of 823 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Beaufays, Chaudfontaine, Embourg, and Vaux-sous-Chèvremont. Some of its best-known enterprises are Galler chocolates, Magotteaux and Chaudfontaine drinking waters. Chaudfontaine was strongly hit by the 2021 European floods.

The Soumagne Tunnel is the longest rail tunnel in Belgium, with a length of 6,505 metres (21,342 ft). Built on the HSL 3 line of the Belgian TGV service for Brussels-Liège-Cologne, the tunnel was completed in 2004. The new line was opened on 12 June 2009. The tunnel links the Liège conurbation with the Herve plateau at a depth of 120 metres (390 ft). Construction and outfitting of the tunnel took place from 2001 to 2005, with the first trains passing through in 2009. The entrances are at Vaux-sous-Chèvremont 50°36′12″N 5°38′14″E and Soumagne 50°36′40″N 5°43′33″E. The tunnel passes under Chaudfontaine, Fléron, Romsée and Ayeneux. The bored section is 5,940 metres (6,500 yd), extended by covered sections of respectively 177 and 388 m. Dozens of geological layers of differing hardness had to be tunnelled through, lime layers needing to be blasted through with dynamite. The tunnel reaches a depth of 127 m in some areas; it has an average ramp height of 1.7%, with a maximum of 2% at the entrance in Soumagne. The free space profile in the tunnel is approximately 69 m2 (740 sq ft), which restricts speeds to 200 km/h (120 mph).

The Fort d'Embourg is one of twelve forts built around Liège, Belgium, in the late 19th century. The overall Fortified Position of Liège was a constituent part of the country's National Redoubt. Fort d'Embourg was built between 1881 and 1884 according to the plans of General Henri Alexis Brialmont. Contrasting with the French forts built in the same era by Raymond Adolphe Séré de Rivières, the fort was built exclusively of unreinforced concrete, a new material, rather than masonry. The fort was heavily bombarded by German artillery in the Battle of Liège in World War I and again at the opening of World War II. It has been preserved and is operated as a museum.

Beyne-Heusay (French pronunciation: ​[bɛn øzɛ]; Walloon: Binne-Heuzea) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On January 1, 2006, Beyne-Heusay had a total population of 11,711. The total area is 7.32 km² which gives a population density of 1,600 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Bellaire, Beyne-Heusay, and Queue-du-Bois.

Beaufays (French pronunciation: ​[bofa(j)i]}; Walloon: Beafayi) is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Chaudfontaine, located in the province of Liège, Belgium. Before the municipal consolidations of 1977, it was its own municipality. Its postal code is 4052 and its telephone area code is 04 368. The public school accommodates about 650 students and 31 classes. The school is known for both academics and for athletics.

The Vesdre (French, French pronunciation: ​[vɛsdʁ]) or Weser (German, German pronunciation: [ˈveːzɐ] (listen)) and Vesder (Dutch, Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvɛzdər]) is a river in Liège Province, eastern Belgium. A few kilometres of the upper reaches also flow through the German municipality Roetgen and form part of the Belgian–German border. The Vesdre's total length is approximately 64 kilometres (40 mi). It is a right tributary to the river Ourthe. Its source lies in the High Fens (Hautes Fagnes, Hohes Venn, Hoge Venen), close to the border with Germany near Monschau. It flows through an artificial lake (Lake Eupen), and then through the towns of Eupen, Verviers, Pepinster and Chaudfontaine. The Vesdre flows into the Ourthe a few kilometres from Liège where the Ourthe in turn flows into the river Meuse. The water of the Vesdre has a high acidity (due to the Hautes Fagnes bogs), which made it very suitable for the textiles industry around Verviers. The Vesdre was the far eastern end of the sillon industriel, the backbone of Walloon industry. Nowadays, the water of the Vesdre is mainly used as drinking water.

Vieille Montagne was a zinc mine in Kelmis (La Calamine), a town in Belgium between Liège and Aachen. The mine's name is French for "old mountain", and this is also reflected in its German name, Altenberg (earlier, Alten Galmei-Berg). The mine was once a bone of contention between Prussia on the one side and the United Kingdom of the Netherlands (later Belgium) on the other, that resulted in a piece of land that became the territory of Neutral Moresnet.

Chênée (French pronunciation: [ʃɛne] (listen); Walloon: Tchinnêye) is a district of the city of Liège, Wallonia, located in the province and arrondissement of Liège, Belgium. Chênée lays at the river mouth of the two rivers Vesdre and Ourthe. It had around 9,101 inhabitants in 2015. The postal code of Chênée is 4032 and is situated around 72 meters above sea level.

Colonster Castle (Château de Colonster) is a castle near Liège in Wallonia, Belgium, sited on a rocky spur in the Ourthe valley. It was first recorded in the 14th century but its present appearance is that of an 18th-century rebuild by Maximilien-Henri de Horion, which turned it from a stronghold into a pleasure palace, with interiors decorated by Paul-Joseph Delcloche. It and its park were acquired in 1963 by the University of Liège.

Trooz (French pronunciation: ​[tʁo]; Walloon: LiTrô) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On July 1, 2012, Trooz had 8,432 registered inhabitants, of whom 4,199 were male and 4,233 female. The total area is 24.00 km² which gives a population density of 351 inhabitants per km².Trooz is situated on the Vesdre River, and is part of the GREOA (Groupement Régional Économique des vallées de l'Ourthe et de l'Amblève) regional grouping for economic purposes. The municipality consists of the following districts: Forêt, Fraipont, Nessonvaux. The town centre is the former hamlet of Trooz, in the district of Forêt, which gave its name to the municipality.

Grivegnée (French pronunciation: ​[ɡʁivɲe]; Walloon: Grimgnêye) is a district of the city of Liège, Wallonia, located in the province of Liège, Belgium.It was a municipality until 1977. It has a population of 19,606 (2006).

Angleur (French pronunciation: ​[ɑ̃ɡlœʁ]; Walloon: Angleûr) is a district of the city of Liège, Wallonia, located in the province of Liège, Belgium. It was a municipality until 1977. It is located at the foot and on the slope of a hill in the southern part of Liège, located between the rivers Ourthe and Meuse. The lower part involves an area known as Renory and a railway station called Gare d'Angleur and the higher part is located around the roundabout of Sart Tilman where the Liège Science Park is located. Two mansions can be found in the lower part of Angleur : the Chateau Péralta and the Chateau Nagelmackers On the 24th of July 2019, during the July 2019 European heat wave, the hottest temperate ever recorded in Belgium at the time was recorded in Angleur, a temperature of 40.2 °C, however this recorded was again broken the next day in the Flemish town of Begijnendijk.
