Plaitford

Landford Heath (grid reference SU265178) is an 11.75 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Landford in southeast Wiltshire, England. It was notified in 1994.

Landford Manor is a Grade II* listed house in Stock Lane, Landford, Wiltshire, England. It dates from around 1600, the south wing from around 1680, with additions in 1885 and 1929. It is built of English bond brick with limestone quoins and dressings, a tiled roof, and brick chimney stacks. It was originally built for the Stanter family. The Davenant family added the south wing and heightened front around 1680. The Eyres altered the front in 1717. It was owned by the Nelson family, of Trafalgar fame, in the nineteenth century. It was added to by Sir Frederick Preston in the twentieth century.

Wellow is a village and civil parish in Hampshire, England that falls within the Test Valley district. The village lies just outside the New Forest, across the main A36 road which runs from the M27 motorway to Salisbury. The nearest town is Romsey, 4 miles (6.4 km) to the east, and the closest city is Southampton, 9 miles (14 km) to the southeast. The parish had a population of 3,239 in the 2021 census. Some people refer to the two villages of East Wellow and West Wellow individually, while others refer to them collectively as Wellow. There is no official administrative or political division which separates the two parts, and they share the same parish council, which also covers the small settlement of Canada. Canada is just inside the New Forest boundary and can only be reached by public road from the roundabout on the A36 at West Wellow.

Landford Bog (grid reference SU259185) is an 11.6 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Landford in southeast Wiltshire, England. It was notified in 1987. The site is managed as a nature reserve by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

Landford is a village and civil parish 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. To the south and east of the parish is the county of Hampshire and the New Forest National Park. The parish includes the small village of Nomansland and the hamlets of Hamptworth and Landfordwood. The River Blackwater crosses the parish from west to east, on its way to join the Test in Hampshire. The A36 Salisbury-Southampton trunk road bisects the parish in the northeast.

Sherfield English is a small village and civil parish in the Test Valley borough of Hampshire, England. It is located on the A27 road, around 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Romsey. Sherfield English appears in Domesday Book of 1086 as the manor of Sirefelle, derived from the Anglo-Saxon scir feld, which probably means "bright open land". The suffix "English" probably comes from the L'Engleys family, who held the manor in the 14th century.The parish church is dedicated to St Leonard. It was built in 1902 with funds given by Lady Ashburton, and is Grade II listed. The village also contains a village hall and a pub, The Hatchet Inn.

Bramshaw is a small village and civil parish in Hampshire, England. It lies just inside the New Forest. The name Bramshaw means Bramble Wood. Until 1895, Bramshaw was divided into two parts, one half in Wiltshire, and one half in Hampshire. The village of Bramshaw is stretched out for several miles along the B3079 road, with the church to the north, the hamlet of Brook to the south and Stock's Cross at its centre.

Nomansland is a small village in Wiltshire, England, close to the county border with Hampshire. It is part of the parish of Landford and lies about 3.5 miles (6 km) southeast of Redlynch and 10 miles (16 km) southeast of the city of Salisbury. The village is within the boundaries of the New Forest National Park and is close to Pipers Wait, the highest point in the New Forest.In the early 19th century the settlement was a hamlet, no more than a group of cottages on common land. At first part of Downton parish, by 1841 Nomansland had been excluded from the parish and was deemed an extra-parochial place, then in 1857 became a civil parish which was joined to Redlynch parish in 1934. More houses were built in the later 19th century and the 20th century. A community governance review effective 1 April 2017 transferred the eastern portion of Redlynch parish, including Nomansland, to Landford.The local school is the New Forest Primary School which has two sites: for younger children at Landford and older children at Nomansland. The latter began as a National School of 1867 on Hamptworth common, then in the 20th century the village of Nomansland expanded to surround it.A Primitive Methodist chapel was built in the mid-19th century and replaced by a new building on the green in 1901. This became Nomansland Methodist Chapel and was still in use in 2015. The village has a pub, the Lamb Inn, and a French restaurant, Les Mirabelles. The village also has a Post Office and general store, Landford Stores, located on Forest Road, which is open 7 days a week.

Brook is a hamlet in the civil parish of Bramshaw, in Hampshire, England. It lies just inside the New Forest. The hamlet contains a mix of 18th and 19th century cottages, just south of the village of Bramshaw. There are two inns in Brook on opposite sides of the road - The Green Dragon and The Bell Inn. Both buildings date from the 18th century, albeit with 19th and 20th century alterations. Brook is also home to the club-house of Bramshaw Golf Club, which claims to be the oldest golf club in HampshireJust south of the village at Lower Canterton lies the Rufus Stone. This stone is said to mark the place where in 1100 the then King of England, William Rufus, was killed by an arrow whilst out hunting. The arrow was fired by a French nobleman, Walter Tyrell, but it has never been established if the death was an accident or murder.

Hamptworth is a hamlet in Wiltshire, England, in the extreme southeast of the county. It is in the civil parish of Landford, and lies within the boundaries of the New Forest National Park.Hamptworth is first mentioned in the early 13th century. Manor Farm dates from the 15th century. From the 17th to late 19th century, settlement consisted of farms along the Redlynch-Landford road. The area was once a tithing of the parish of Downton, and later became a ward of Redlynch parish. A community governance review effective 1 April 2017 transferred the eastern portion of Redlynch parish, including Hamptworth, to Landford.Hamptworth has a pub, the Cuckoo Inn, an early 18th-century building. Hamptworth also has a golf club, Hamptworth Golf Club, which has one of the UK's only Par 6 at 666 Yards called 'The Beast'. The course was designed and constructed in 1994 by Philip Sanders and Brian D Pierson.The local school is the New Forest Primary School which has two sites: for younger children at Landford and older children at Nomansland. It was built to replace a seventeenth century building, parts of which have been incorporated into the present structure. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with timber-framing and has a tiled roof and ornamental brick chimney stacks. The house is Grade II* listed.

Copythorne Common is a 17-hectare (42-acre) nature reserve west of Southampton in Hampshire. It is managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. It is part of the New Forest, which is a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.The common has grassland, woods and dry heath. Birds include long-tailed tits and woodlarks, while there are reptiles such as slow worms, adders and common lizards.
