3100 W. Big Beaver Road in Troy, Michigan, USA, is the former international headquarters of Kmart Corporation. The building, on the northwest side of the intersection of W. Big Beaver Road and Coolidge Highway, used to employ thousands of people, but has been vacant since 2006. The building was erected in 1969, designed by Smith, Hinchman, and Grylls, Inc. In 1972, the Kresge company, the precursor of Kmart, moved its headquarters there from Detroit (where its former headquarters is now the Metropolitan Center for High Technology). In 1975 a Michigan historic marker was erected to mark the significance of the company. It was constructed for more than 5,500 headquarters staff. When Kmart purchased Sears and moved its headquarters to Chicago in 2006, the building, then housing 2,000, was vacated; art from the corporate art collection including a tapestry by Picasso and a signed Warhol poster and exhibits from the science and technology collection including a work by Alan Bean signed by US astronauts were sold off.The 40-acre building is enclosed by nine towers, six smaller, two larger, and one overlooking the rest at the corner nearest the intersection of W. Big Beaver and Coolidge. The tallest tower offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area, including the adjacent Somerset Mall. The building was sold in December 2005 to Madison Marquette, a development company that planned to use the site for a hotel, condominiums, shopping, offices, and entertainment. It was sold in 2006 for US$40 million. In 2009, The Forbes Company & Frankel Associates, owners of the mall, purchased it from Diamond Troy JV, L.L.C. for an undisclosed price. While the site has remained vacant since 2006, plans to redevelop the site have been proposed. In 2008, a redevelopment project called the Pavilions of Troy proposed to tear down the old building and create an outside shopping mall, but the project was cancelled during the Great Recession. The site is slated for demolition by the city of Troy after sitting vacant for 15 years.

The William Brooks Farm, also known as the Washington Stanley Farm, is a farmsite located at 3521 Big Beaver Road in Troy, Michigan. It was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1971 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Grand Trunk Western Railroad Birmingham Depot is a former railroad train station located at 245 South Eton Street in Birmingham, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. As of 2022, the building is unoccupied.

Birmingham was an Amtrak train station in Birmingham, Michigan, served by the Wolverine service. The station was located on an embankment at the eastern end of Villa Road, and consisted of a concrete platform with a small shelter and wheelchair lift. On October 13, 2014, the station was closed and replaced by the Troy Transit Center, located about 1,200 feet (370 m) southeast on Doyle Drive in Troy, Michigan.Historically, Birmingham had been a station for frequent Grand Trunk Western passenger service from Detroit to Pontiac and Durand. Until 1960 the GTW operated trains that went beyond Durand to Grand Rapids, on to Muskegon, where ferries could be boarded, for travelling across Lake Michigan, to Milwaukee. At Durand Union Station passengers could transfer the La Salle and the Inter-City Limited to Chicago, to the Inter-City Limited to Toronto and to mixed trains bound for Saginaw and Bay City.

Oakland/Troy Airport (ICAO: KVLL, FAA LID: VLL) is a county-owned public-use airport located two miles (3.2 km) east of the central business district of Troy, a city in Oakland County, Michigan, United States. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a regional reliever airport facility.The Oakland/Troy Airport is considered the county's "executive" airport. Business travelers and tourists using private, corporate and charter aircraft benefit from the airport's convenient proximity to business, recreation and entertainment facilities. It is located between Maple Road and 14 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway and Crooks Road. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Oakland/Troy Airport is assigned VLL by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned VLL to Valladolid, Spain). Oakland/Troy was formerly designated 7D2 but changed March 17, 2005 after an automated weather station was installed at the field.

The Troy Transit Center is an unstaffed train station in Troy, Michigan, United States, that is served by Amtrak's Wolverine, which runs thrice daily between Chicago, Illinois, and Pontiac, Michigan (via Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, and Detroit, Michigan). It is also served by Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART). The transit center replaced the nearby Birmingham Amtrak station in October 2014.

The Derby Street-Grand Trunk Western Railroad Bridge is a bridge carrying Derby Street over the Grand Trunk Western Railroad in Birmingham, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

PNC Center, formerly National City Center and often still known by its original name, the Top of Troy, is a high-rise office building in Troy, Michigan. The complex consists of a 25-story triangular office tower and a two-floor atrium containing offices, retail, and a conference center. Completed in 1975, the International-style tower is the tallest building in Troy and among the tallest in Oakland County, standing 346 feet tall with 667,000 square feet of office space. PNC Financial Services maintains regional offices in the building as the major tenant. The building can be easily accessed from Interstate 75, as it is located just west of the interchange (exit 69) with Big Beaver Road. The Top of Troy can be seen for miles from much of the Metro Detroit area. There is a Ruth's Chris Steak House on the first floor, as well as a cafeteria known as Friends Café.

Birmingham is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a northern suburb of Detroit located along the Woodward Corridor (M-1). As of the 2010 census, the population was 20,103.

The Columbia Center is a pair of twin towers on Big Beaver Road in Troy, Michigan. Both buildings were designed by Minoru Yamasaki & Associates, designers of One Woodward Avenue and the now-destroyed World Trade Center. Both buildings stand 14 floors and are 193 ft (59m) tall. At one time Northwest Airlines had a ticket office in Suite 115 of the complex.

Troy High School (THS) is a public high school in Troy, Michigan, United States. It enrolls approximately 2,000 students in grades 9–12. It is one of four high schools in the Troy School District, along with Athens High School, Troy College and Career School, and International Academy East. The school opened for the 1950–1951 school year and was originally located at 3179 Livernois (now the Troy Community Center). It moved to its current location for the 1992–1993 school year. Troy High School was ranked 60th by Newsweek in its listing of America's Best High Schools for 2016.
