Montijo e Afonsoeiro is a civil parish in the municipality of Montijo, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Montijo and Afonsoeiro. The population in 2011 was 37,111, in an area of 31.46 km2.

Sarilhos Pequenos is town on the south margin of the Tagus River, near Lisbon, Portugal. Once a civil parish in the municipality of Moita, in the district of Setúbal, it merged in 2013 into the new parish of Gaio-Rosário e Sarilhos Pequenos. With an area of approximately 3.79 square kilometres (1.46 sq mi), the population of Sarilhos Pequenos was 1150 in 2011 (census data).

Alcochete (Portuguese pronunciation: [alkuˈʃetɨ] ) is a municipality in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 17,569, in an area of 128.36 km². The municipality is composed of three parishes and is located in Setúbal District. Alcochete is known for its bullfighting tradition and its proximity to the second-longest bridge in Europe, the Vasco da Gama Bridge. The actual site of present-day Alcochete was already occupied during Roman times with a clay production facility. Its name is thought to derive from the Arabic word for oven for reasons not yet understood. It became a vacation site preferred by the Portuguese royalty and the future king D. Manuel I was born in the village. It has experienced major development due to the construction of the Vasco da Gama Bridge. On 10 January 2008 Portuguese prime minister José Sócrates announced that Alcochete had been selected as the site of the new airport serving Lisbon, Portugal's capital. The existing Portela Airport, which is located within the city of Lisbon itself, has become too small to handle demand. This preliminary decision will be finalised after public consultation. The location of Alcochete as the construction site of the future Lisbon Airport was confirmed by the Portuguese Government on May 8, 2008.Sporting Clube de Portugal has a football training facility (Academia Sporting in Alcochete), which accommodated Portugal during the Euro 2004 competition.

The population in 2011 was 66,029, in an area of 55.26 km2.The municipality is part of the Greater Lisbon Area, with a demographic rate of 1.194,9/km2 in 2011, growing from 533,2/km2 in 1960. As part of Lisbon's suburban area, the population is mostly working age and senior individuals. The aging indicator (1 senior per 100 youngsters) is 106,9.The present Mayor is Rui Garcia, elected by the Democratic Unity Coalition. The municipal holiday is the 1st Tuesday after the 2nd Sunday of September.

The base is home to three transport squadrons and one helicopter search and rescue squadron and provides logistic support to the Portuguese Navy's helicopters based there.

Pinhal Novo (Portuguese pronunciation: [piˈɲal ˈnovu]) is a town in Portugal situated in the Setúbal Peninsula halfway between Lisbon and Setúbal. It is a civil parish of the Palmela Municipality. The population in 2011 was 25,000, in an area of 54.44 km2. It is served by two highways connecting Lisbon to the South and by its new train station that has enabled residents to connect directly to Lisbon's subway network in 38 minutes since October 2004. It is located near the Arrabida Natural Park and many of facilities, such as shopping centres including Forum Montijo, the Alcochete Freeport, Pinô Shopping Centre and Mochos, two of the most popular Portuguese shopping companies. The city is experiencing continuous growth and has expanded from a little village a few years ago to a planned 40, 000 resident city. It benefits from new infrastructure, and urbanisation plans do not allow large buildings, which contributes to a certain quality of life.

Baixa da Banheira e Vale da Amoreira is a civil parish in the municipality of Moita, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Baixa da Banheira and Vale da Amoreira. The population in 2011 was 30,949, in an area of 6.42 km2.

The Vasco da Gama Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte Vasco da Gama; pronounced [ˈpõt(ɨ) ˈvaʃku dɐ ˈɡɐmɐ]) is a cable-stayed bridge flanked by viaducts that spans the Tagus River in Parque das Nações in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. It is the second longest bridge in Europe, after the Crimean Bridge, the longest one in the European Union. It was built to alleviate the congestion on Lisbon's 25 de Abril Bridge, and eliminate the need for traffic between the country's northern and southern regions to pass through the capital city.Construction began in February 1995; the bridge was opened to traffic on 29 March 1998, just in time for Expo 98, the World's Fair that celebrated the 500th anniversary of the discovery by Vasco da Gama of the sea route from Europe to India. Along with the 25 de Abril Bridge, the Vasco da Gama is one of two bridges that span the Tagus River in Lisbon.
