Schafteløkken

Elisenberg is a neighborhood in the Frogner borough in Oslo, Norway. It is defined as an area between the streets Elisenbergveien, Frognerveien, Bygdøy allé and Kristinelundveien. The borough grew up around the paddock manor Schafteløkken, divided from Frogner farm and bought by Andreas Schaft in 1799. He later named the paddock Elisenberg after his daughter. The property was bought by Fredrik Glad Balchen, who ran an institute for the deaf-mute between 1857 and 1891. A corporation named Elisenbergløkkens Aktieselskab was involved when the area was built-up from the 1890s, mostly with four-storey apartment blocks. It also acquired the street Elisenbergveien in 1896, which later became publicly owned. In 1910 Schafteløkken was bought by the congregation in Frogner Church. They wanted to tear the manor down in the 1970s and 1980s, and replace it with other housing, but were stopped.Elisenberg School is a defunct school. The first school with this name was instituted in 1958, when the municipality took over an old school from 1895, whose last name was Vestheim School. In 1969 Elisenberg School was closed. The building was taken over in the same year by Oslo Husflidskole ("Oslo Handicraft School"), founded 1967. In 1976 this school changed its name to Elisenberg Upper Secondary School. It went defunct in 1990, and the building was taken over by Bjørknes School and College.The neighborhood is served by the Oslo Tramway station Elisenberg on the Frogner Line. It was also supposed to be served by the underground railway station Elisenberg Station on the Drammen Line, but this station was never finished and has never been taken into use.

Benjamin Wegner's sundial (Norwegian: Benjamin Wegners solur) is a sundial from around 1837 located in Frogner Park, Oslo, right in front of the Frogner Manor buildings, which today house Oslo City Museum. It was erected by business magnate Benjamin Wegner, the director of Blaafarveværket, after he took over Frogner Manor in 1836. Wegner had a grand oval driveway built in front of the main building with a sundial in the middle of the lawn. The sundial is constructed as an open globe, where the meridians cast a shadow on sunny days onto the inner part of the globe, hitting the inside of the equator line and thus showing the time, specifically the astronomical solar time. Odd Gunnar Skagestad wrote in 2020 that the nearly 200-year-old sundial is greatly neglected and called for efforts to preserve it. It is one of two sundials in Frogner Park, alongside Gustav Vigeland's sundial from ca. 1930.

Oslo Museum (Norwegian: Oslo museum) is a museum dedicated to the history and culture of Oslo, Norway. The museum is headquartered at Frogner Manor in Frogner Park, together with two of its departments; Oslo City Museum and Theatre Museum.

The Henriette Wegner Pavilion (Norwegian: Henriette Wegners paviljong) or the Wegner Pavilion (Norwegian: Wegnerpaviljongen) a classical tea pavilion in Frogner Park, Oslo, built in the 1820s. It is part of the Oslo Museum and is located near the manor house of Frogner Manor. It is located on a small hill on the edge of Frogner Park that is known as Utsikten ("The View"). The pavilion is listed as a protected cultural heritage site. It was built in the 1820s at Fossum Manor at Blaafarveværket and was a gift from Blaafarveværket's director-general Benjamin Wegner to his wife Henriette Wegner (née Seyler). It was moved to Frogner Park after Wegner bought Frogner Manor in 1836.The pavilion is shaped like a classic octagonal round temple with a colonnade. The ceiling is a painted miniature copy of the dome over the Pantheon temple in Rome, which makes the room feel larger than it actually is. The pavilion is occasionally open to the public as an artist-run art gallery and used for smaller cultural events during the summer.

Frogner Manor (Frogner Hovedgård) is a manor house and former estate in today's borough of Frogner in Oslo, Norway. The estate comprised most of the modern borough of Frogner, which has been named after the estate, and Frognerseteren with parts of the Nordmarka forest (Frognerseterskogen). The remaining part of the estate is now the site of the Frogner Park, with the manor house found in the south of the park and the Vigeland installation in the park's centre. The 18th century buildings on the grounds are now occupied by the Oslo City Museum. Frogner was one of the largest and oldest agricultural properties in the Oslo area. In the Middle Ages, Frogner became ecclesiastical property, mostly owned by the Hovedøya Abbey, but was confiscated by the Crown in 1532, preceding the Reformation. From the mid 17th century to the late 19th century, it was owned by wealthy officials or burghers of Christiania, but it was sold to the municipality of Kristiania in 1896 to make room for urban expansion and a new cemetery (Vestre gravlund). However, significant parts of the estate instead became a public park.

Oslo City Museum (Oslo Bymuseum) is a department of Oslo Museum in Oslo, Norway. The museum is located at Frogner Manor (Frogner Hovedgård) in Frogner Park (Frognerparken).The museum was first founded in 1905 as the association Det gamle Christiania. Initiator and committee leader until 1912 was architect Fritz Holland (1874-1959). A committee members included Bishop of Oslo Anton Christian Bang, architects Torolf Prytz and Harald Olsen, artist Eilif Peterssen and military officer Thomas Heftye. The museum moved into the main building at Frogner Manor in 1909. Oslo City Museum was a private association until the end of 2005. In 2006 it became part of the newly established Oslo Museum, together with two other museums; the Intercultural Museum and the Theatre Museum. Oslo Museum is now headquartered at Frogner Manor.Oslo City Museum has an extensive library with the purpose of documenting the history of the City of Oslo, as well as the former municipality Aker. Particularly valuable is the museum's art collection and photo collection with Oslo motifs and portraits. The museum has one of the largest and most important photo collections in Norway. Additionally the museum has an art collection which contains around 1,000 paintings and around 6,000 other works.

The Vigeland Museum (Norwegian: Vigelandmuseet) is a museum dedicated to Gustav Vigeland in Frogner, Oslo. It is located outside Frogner Park, which includes the Vigeland installation with sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. The museum is part of Oslo municipality's cultural department. The museum is dedicated to Norway's most famous sculptor, Gustav Vigeland (1869–1943). The museum is Vigeland's former studio and residence. His urn and ashes are located in the tower of the museum. He designed his own bronze urn and burial monument, located above his apartment on the 2nd floor. The official web site for the museum is: https://vigeland.museum.no/en . The Vigeland Museum celebrated Gustav Vigeland's 150th Year Anniversary in 2019. Until 2020 the museum used the spelling Vigeland-museet in Norwegian; the spelling was changed to Vigelandmuseet after a long period where people often spelled it Vigelandsmuseet (with s).

The American Lutheran Congregation is the largest English-speaking church in Oslo, Norway.The American Lutheran Congregation in Oslo is located at Fritzners gate 15 in the neighborhood of Frogner. It was the parish church for the American Lutheran Church in Oslo, and is now affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The church ministry is directed to the English-speaking short-term and long-term residents of the city, as well as embassy personnel, foreign students, refugees and tourists. Attendees include Lutherans, Anglicans, Methodists, Norwegian State Church members, Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, Baptists, and Pentecostals from many nations.The church was consecrated on 11 October 1964. It has a church sanctuary of 400 seats. The church was designed by the American architectural firm Sövik, Mathre, and Madson of Northfield, Minnesota. An exterior bronze sculpture titled Christ the King by Egon Weiner, former Professor of the Art Institute of Chicago, was unveiled in 1967.

The Embassy of Indonesia, Oslo (Indonesian: Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia di Oslo; Norwegian: Indonesias ambassade i Oslo) is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Norway. The embassy is also accredited to Iceland. Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Norway started in 1951, while diplomatic relations and the embassy's accreditation to Iceland started in 1983.Indonesia has had a diplomatic mission in Oslo since 1950. However, the mission was closed in September 1960. Between 1960 and 1966, the Indonesian embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark was accredited to Norway. Between 1966 and 1970, the Indonesian embassy in Stockholm, Sweden was accredited to Norway. Then between 1975 and 1981, the embassy in Copenhagen was again accredited to Norway. In 1981, the Indonesian government reopened its diplomatic mission in Oslo at the level of an embassy.The chancery is located at Fritzners Gate 12, 0244 Oslo. It is located in an area of Oslo called Gimle Hill and is set between the American Lutheran Church and the Czech embassy. The building used by the embassy was built in 1902 and was designed by Bernhard Steckmest. Prior to this location, the embassy was located at Gange-Rolvs Gate 5, which is now the Afghanistan embassy. The current ambassador is Todung Mulya Lubis who was appointed by President Joko Widodo on 20 February 2018.

Frogner is a residential and retail borough in the West End of Oslo, Norway, with a population of 59,269 as of 2020. In addition to the original Frogner, the borough incorporates Bygdøy, Uranienborg and Majorstuen. The borough is named after Frogner Manor, and includes Frogner Park. The borough has the highest real estate prices in Norway.

Frogner Church (Norwegian: Frogner kirke) is a parish church in the Frogner borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. The congregation is part of the Oslo arch-deanery within the Diocese of Oslo in the Church of Norway.

Elisenberg station (Norwegian: Elisenberg stasjon) is an unfinished railway station within the Oslo Tunnel on the Drammen Line in Oslo, Norway. The ghost station was partially built during the construction of the tunnel between 1971 and 1980, but has never been put into use. It is located between Nationaltheatret Station and Skøyen Station, at Elisenberg in Frogner. A 220-meter (720 ft) long center platform and part of the access way has been built, but never completed. While the station initially was not put into use because of lack of funds to complete it, it is now unlikely that it will ever be completed, as the need for a station has disappeared and an opening would need a large investment of funds.
