Frogner

The American Lutheran Congregation is the largest English-speaking church in Oslo, Norway.The American Lutheran Congregation in Oslo is located at Fritzners gate 15 in the neighborhood of Frogner. It was the parish church for the American Lutheran Church in Oslo, and is now affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The church ministry is directed to the English-speaking short-term and long-term residents of the city, as well as embassy personnel, foreign students, refugees and tourists. Attendees include Lutherans, Anglicans, Methodists, Norwegian State Church members, Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, Baptists, and Pentecostals from many nations.The church was consecrated on 11 October 1964. It has a church sanctuary of 400 seats. The church was designed by the American architectural firm Sövik, Mathre, and Madson of Northfield, Minnesota. An exterior bronze sculpture titled Christ the King by Egon Weiner, former Professor of the Art Institute of Chicago, was unveiled in 1967.

Gimle is an exclusive neighbourhood within the borough Frogner in Oslo, Norway. It is noted for its many embassies and has the highest real estate prices in Oslo, and indeed, Norway. The area was historically part of Frogner Manor. Most of Gimle consists of the Gimle hill, with good views of the rest of Frogner and Skarpsno. Gimle is located to the west of Frederik Stangs gate and to the south of Bygdø allé, and to the south-west of Thomas Heftyes gate.

Frogner Church (Norwegian: Frogner kirke) is a parish church in the Frogner borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. The congregation is part of the Oslo arch-deanery within the Diocese of Oslo in the Church of Norway.

The Embassy of Indonesia, Oslo (Indonesian: Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia di Oslo; Norwegian: Indonesias ambassade i Oslo) is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Norway. The embassy is also accredited to Iceland. Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Norway started in 1951, while diplomatic relations and the embassy's accreditation to Iceland started in 1983.Indonesia has had a diplomatic mission in Oslo since 1950. However, the mission was closed in September 1960. Between 1960 and 1966, the Indonesian embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark was accredited to Norway. Between 1966 and 1970, the Indonesian embassy in Stockholm, Sweden was accredited to Norway. Then between 1975 and 1981, the embassy in Copenhagen was again accredited to Norway. In 1981, the Indonesian government reopened its diplomatic mission in Oslo at the level of an embassy.The chancery is located at Fritzners Gate 12, 0244 Oslo. It is located in an area of Oslo called Gimle Hill and is set between the American Lutheran Church and the Czech embassy. The building used by the embassy was built in 1902 and was designed by Bernhard Steckmest. Prior to this location, the embassy was located at Gange-Rolvs Gate 5, which is now the Afghanistan embassy. The current ambassador is Todung Mulya Lubis who was appointed by President Joko Widodo on 20 February 2018.

Elisenberg station (Norwegian: Elisenberg stasjon) is an unfinished railway station within the Oslo Tunnel on the Drammen Line in Oslo, Norway. The ghost station was partially built during the construction of the tunnel between 1971 and 1980, but has never been put into use. It is located between Nationaltheatret Station and Skøyen Station, at Elisenberg in Frogner. A 220-meter (720 ft) long center platform and part of the access way has been built, but never completed. While the station initially was not put into use because of lack of funds to complete it, it is now unlikely that it will ever be completed, as the need for a station has disappeared and an opening would need a large investment of funds.

The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Oslo is the chief diplomatic mission of the United Kingdom in Norway. The Embassy is located on one of the most expensive streets in Norway, Thomas Heftyes gate, in the Frogner district. The current British Ambassador to Norway is Richard Wood.

Elisenberg is a tram stop on the Oslo Tramway. Located at Elisenberg in Frogner, it was opened by Kristiania Elektriske Sporvei 1902 as a part of the Frogner Line between Majorstuen and Frogner. It is served by line 12 between Majorstuen and Kjelsås. An underground mainline railway station named Elisenberg was to be constructed 30 metres (98 ft) underneath the tram stop, but was never finished and was never opened for traffic.

Ukraine Square (Norwegian: Ukrainas plass) is a square in Skarpsno, Frogner, Oslo. It is located at the intersection of Drammensveien and Leiv Eirikssons gate. The Russian Embassy is located next to Ukraine Square. The borough of Frogner renamed the square as Ukraine Square on 8 March 2022 in support of Ukraine's freedom, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The borough voted on 8 March 2022 to change the name of part of the road where the Russian embassy and other properties have its addresses; none of the addresses were changed, however the intersection closest to the Russian embassy got its name "Ukraine Square".

The Embassy of Russia in Oslo is the diplomatic mission of Russia to Norway. The embassy is located next to Ukraine Square at Skarpsno. The square outside the embassy was renamed Ukraine Square by the city on 7 March 2022 in support of Ukraine's freedom, in response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The borough voted on 8 March 2022 to change the formal address of the Russian embassy to Ukraine Square.

Skarpsno is a tram stop on the Oslo Tramway. Located at Skarpsno, it was opened by Kristiania Elektriske Sporvei on 2 March 1894 as a part of the first stretch of what would become the Skøyen Line. It is served by line 13.

Elisenberg is a neighborhood in the Frogner borough in Oslo, Norway. It is defined as an area between the streets Elisenbergveien, Frognerveien, Bygdøy allé and Kristinelundveien. The borough grew up around the paddock manor Schafteløkken, divided from Frogner farm and bought by Andreas Schaft in 1799. He later named the paddock Elisenberg after his daughter. The property was bought by Fredrik Glad Balchen, who ran an institute for the deaf-mute between 1857 and 1891. A corporation named Elisenbergløkkens Aktieselskab was involved when the area was built-up from the 1890s, mostly with four-storey apartment blocks. It also acquired the street Elisenbergveien in 1896, which later became publicly owned. In 1910 Schafteløkken was bought by the congregation in Frogner Church. They wanted to tear the manor down in the 1970s and 1980s, and replace it with other housing, but were stopped.Elisenberg School is a defunct school. The first school with this name was instituted in 1958, when the municipality took over an old school from 1895, whose last name was Vestheim School. In 1969 Elisenberg School was closed. The building was taken over in the same year by Oslo Husflidskole ("Oslo Handicraft School"), founded 1967. In 1976 this school changed its name to Elisenberg Upper Secondary School. It went defunct in 1990, and the building was taken over by Bjørknes School and College.The neighborhood is served by the Oslo Tramway station Elisenberg on the Frogner Line. It was also supposed to be served by the underground railway station Elisenberg Station on the Drammen Line, but this station was never finished and has never been taken into use.

Schafteløkken is a building in the neighborhood Elisenberg in the Frogner borough in Oslo, Norway. It is preserved, and mainly used for weddings and other official ceremonials.It is one of the largest existing wooden building in Oslo, Norway. It was built around 1807 for Andreas Schaft, who had bought the square in front of the building in 1799. He named the square Elisenberg, after his daughter Martine Elisabeth.Fredrik Glad Balchen (1815–1899) bought Schafteløkken in 1858 and operated Christiania Døvstumme-Institut, a school for the deaf, on site until 1891. Frogner parish bought the buildings in 1910. The site became the parish's retirement home until 1958. Oslo City Council decided in 1985 to preserve Schafteløkken, after efforts from an action group led by architect Ole Daniel Bruun (1933-2014).
