Canton of Fribourg

The A12 motorway, an Autobahn in western Switzerland, is a divided highway connecting the A9 to the A1.The A12 runs from the A9 in Vevey along the Freiburger Alps via Fribourg to the A1 in Bern and thus represents an important link to Western Switzerland. The A12 acts as the main route of the Canton of Freiburg and crosses the Canton area in the diagonal of Chatel-Saint-Denis (in the southwest) to the Flamatt in the northeast. Since 1981, the entire highway has been open to traffic. A scenic location on the Lac de la Gruyère is the resting place de Gruyère, with its adjacent hotel.

Farvagny (French: [faʁvaɲi]; Arpitan: Farvagni) is a former municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The former municipalities of Farvagny-le-Grand, Farvagny-le-Petit, Grenilles and Posat merged in 1996 to form it. On 1 January 2016 it merged with Corpataux-Magnedens, Le Glèbe, Rossens and Vuisternens-en-Ogoz to form the new municipality of Gibloux.

Rossens (French: [ʁɔsɑ̃s], Franco-Provençal: [ʁɔˈʃɛ̃] (listen)) is a former municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2016 it merged with Corpataux-Magnedens, Farvagny, Le Glèbe and Vuisternens-en-Ogoz to form the new municipality of Gibloux.

Gibloux (French: [ʒiblu]; Arpitan: Dzubyà [dzyˈbjɑ]) is a municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The municipality was formed 1 January 2016, from the merger of Corpataux-Magnedens, Farvagny, Le Glèbe, Rossens and Vuisternens-en-Ogoz.

The Île d'Ogoz (French pronunciation: ​[il dɔɡo]; Arpitan: Ila d’Ôgo) is an island in the Lake of Gruyère, located in the canton of Fribourg. It has a length of 130 metres and a width of about 70 metres. Its highest point is 688 metres above sea level or 11 metres above lake level (677 m). The distance from the shore is 160 metres. On the island are a ruined castle and a church. Before the completion of the Rossens Dam, it was a promontory overlooking the valley of the Sarine. It then became an island after the valley was flooded. When the level of the lake is at its lowest, the island becomes a 500-metre-long peninsula accessible to pedestrians. Politically the island belongs to the municipality of Pont-en-Ogoz in the district of Gruyère.

Pont-en-Ogoz (French pronunciation: ​[pɔ̃.t‿ɑ̃.n‿ɔɡo]) is a municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. In 1970 the village of Pont-en-Ogoz merged with Villars-d'Avry into the municipality of Le Bry. Then, in 2003 the municipalities of Le Bry, Avry-devant-Pont and Gumefens merged to form a bigger Pont-en-Ogoz.

Illens Castle is a castle in the municipality of Rossens of the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

The chapel of Notre-Dame de Posat is a Roman Catholic chapel located in the village of Posat of the Gibloux commune, canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. It is listed as a heritage site of national significance.

Corpataux-Magnedens is a former municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The francophone municipality was formed 1 January 1999, from the union of Corpataux (French: [kɔʁpato]; Arpitan: Corpathâlx [kɔʁpaˈθɑ] (listen)) and Magnedens (French: [maɲədɑ̃s], Franco-Provençal: [maɲəˈdɛ̃] (listen)). On 1 January 2016 it merged with Farvagny, Le Glèbe, Rossens and Vuisternens-en-Ogoz to form the new municipality of Gibloux.

On 1 January 2016 it merged with Corpataux-Magnedens, Farvagny, Le Glèbe and Rossens to form the new municipality of Gibloux.

Pont-la-Ville (Arpitan: Pont-la-Vela [ˈpɔ̃ na ˈvəla] (listen)) is a municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Arconciel (French: [aʁkɔ̃sjɛl]; Arpitan: Arconcié, locally Arkonhyi [aʁkɔ̃ˈçi] (listen)) is a former municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2021 the former municipalities of Arconciel, Ependes and Senèdes merged to form the new municipality of Bois-d'Amont.
