Graveney School

Furzedown Secondary School was a mixed comprehensive school in South London. It was established in Welham Road on the boundary between Streatham and Tooting in 1977, following the amalgamation of Battersea Grammar boys' school and Rosa Bassett girls' grammar school. The school closed when it was amalgamated with Ensham School, a comprehensive school for girls, in 1986 to create the new Graveney School, an enlarged mixed comprehensive school which incorporated the Furzedown Secondary School site.

Rosa Bassett School was a grammar school for girls in South London. Established in 1906 in Stockwell as the Stockwell County Secondary School, in 1913 it moved to Welham Road on the boundary between Streatham and Tooting. It was renamed the County Secondary School, Streatham, and was often referred to as Streatham County Secondary School or Streatham Secondary School. It was again renamed in 1951, after the first headmistress, Rosa Bassett. The school closed when in 1977 it was amalgamated with Battersea Grammar School, a school for boys, creating the new Furzedown Secondary School, a mixed comprehensive school, incorporating the Rosa Bassett buildings into a larger site.

Furzedown is a ward, in both the districts of Streatham (Streatham West and part of Streatham Park) and Tooting, wholly in the Tooting Parliamentary Constituency, within the London Borough of Wandsworth in South West London. It is a mainly residential area close to Tooting Commons, which provide a large open space including Tooting Bec Lido.

The run takes place annually in September, organised by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. It is on the Tooting Bec Athletics Track, on a 400-metre track. The race first took place in 1989.

Tooting Bec Athletics Track & Gym is an athletics stadium in Tooting Common, near Tooting Bec, Wandsworth, southwest London, England. It is located on Tooting Bec Road. An annual race event on the track in September is the Self Transcendence 24 Hour Track Race London.

All Saints Church is a Church of England parish church in Tooting, Wandsworth, Greater London. The church was designed by Temple Moore and is a grade II listed building.

St Barnabas' Church, Mitcham, is a church in the Graveney ward of the London borough of Merton, in SW London. It is located on Gorringe Park Avenue in Mitcham. The church is dedicated to Barnabas, one of the disciples. In his day, he carried out missionary journeys & had a great ability to encourage - Barnabas means "son of encouragement". The dedication was chosen, due to the missionary nature of the church set up on this site. The local area in the early 20th Century was a Mission District (specifically, from 1906), where the church aimed to establish & foster a local religious community. This was at the aegis of Christ Church in Colliers Wood, along with old boys from City of London School. The initial missionary building was a basic building, housing a single room; it was known as the "tin church". The current building that we know was designed by H. P. Burke Downing, the foundation stone being laid on 17 May 1913 & the church was completed on 14 November 1914. The church was Grade II listed by English Heritage on 2 September 1988.No images of this early "tin church" are available, but we can ascertain how it might have looked with images of other churches which shared a similar arc of development, starting in newly populated areas in the greatly expanding cities of the late 1800s and early 1900s. Possible examples being the "tin hut" church at Mile Oak or the tabernacles of the Methodist ChurchRecently, the church has been used as a polling station for elections; it was used as a polling office in UK General Election of 12 December 2019, with the polling booths and election officers being located near the main door.

Streatham Park is an area of suburban South West London that comprises the eastern part of Furzedown ward in the London Borough of Wandsworth, formerly in the historic parish of Streatham. It is bounded by Tooting Bec Common to the north, Thrale Road and West Road to the west and the London to Brighton railway to the east. The area takes its name from a Georgian country mansion built by the brewer Ralph Thrale. Streatham Park later passed to Ralph's son Henry Thrale, who with his wife, Hester Thrale, entertained many of the leading literary and artistic characters of the day, most notably the lexicographer Samuel Johnson, who was fond of a summer house in the grounds.

Tooting is a railway station serving Tooting in South London; it is within Travelcard Zone 3. Although Tooting is in the London Borough of Wandsworth, the station is located just across the borough boundary in the neighbouring London Borough of Merton. The station is on the Sutton Loop Line and is served by Thameslink trains and by a limited number of Southern services during the morning and evening peak.

Tooting Priory or Tooting Bec Priory was a priory in Tooting, now in the London Borough of Wandsworth. It was dissolved before 1315 and the land was granted to Eton College in 1440.
