Gran Casino del Sardinero

Sardinero is a popular beach located in the Spanish city of Santander, Cantabria. The beach is divided in two by the gardens of Piquio about one-quarter the way along its length, stretching from the Magdalena Peninsula to Mataleñas; two further adjacent beaches are also sometimes included. In total about 4,300 feet (1,300 meters) long and 260 feet (79 meters) deep, the beach features fine golden sand and moderate waves; it is bordered by a wide promenade running its entire length.Sardinero is lined with hotels, restaurants, and a casino, and is regarded as one of the most elegant beach resorts in Spain.

The Estadio El Sardinero was a multi-use stadium in Santander, Spain. It was initially used as the stadium of Racing de Santander matches. It was replaced by the current Estadio El Sardinero in 1988. The capacity of the stadium was 20,000 spectators. In 1928, the stadium hosted the infamous Copa del Rey final between Barcelona and Real Sociedad, which needed 3 matches to decide the winners as the first two ended in 1–1 draws. Barcelona won 3–1 in the third match and the entire competition.

Campos de Sport de El Sardinero ("El Sardinero Sport Fields"), or simply El Sardinero, is a multi-purpose stadium in Santander, Spain. It is currently used mostly for football matches, serving as the home ground of the former La Liga side Racing de Santander since its inauguration in 1988, after replacing the old Estadio El Sardinero. With a capacity of 22,222 seats, it is the 28th-largest stadium in Spain and the largest in Cantabria.

Menéndez Pelayo International University ("UIMP" in Spanish) is a public university with administrative headquarters in Madrid and campuses in Santander, Valencia, Barcelona, Cartagena, Cuenca, Granada, La Línea de la Concepción, Seville and Tenerife. The University also conducts classes at the Luis Seoane Foundation in A Coruña and the Huesca campus of the University of Zaragoza. UIMP is an "Autonomous agency" within the Ministry of Universities which, according to its bylaws, is defined as an "academic center for high culture" It was named in honor of Marcelino Menéndez y Pelayo and is the primary institution in Spain for teaching the Spanish language and culture to foreign students. UIMP offers Master's degrees in many areas of study, including: "Translation and New Technologies: Translation of Software and Multimedia Products" (in collaboration with Amergin (The University Institute of Research in Irish Studies, University of A Coruña) and Istrad (Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos and Translation based in Seville). "Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language" (in conjunction with the Cervantes Institute); "Renewable Energy", including fuel cells and hydrogen (in collaboration with the Spanish National Research Council); a graduate degree in "Economics and Finance", under the auspices of CEMFI; and "Contemporary History", with the participation of several other public universities.

Palacio de Deportes de Santander is an arena in Santander, Cantabria, Spain. It is primarily used for basketball and handball. The arena has 6,000 seats.

The University of Cantabria School of Civil Engineering is an engineering school of the University of Cantabria. The school ranks 5th in Spain in the civil engineering schools' ranking by El Mundo just behind the schools of the Technical University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the University of Castile-La Mancha. It is the second oldest civil engineering school in Spain, behind the school of the Technical University of Madrid.

The Magdalena Peninsula is a 69-acre (28 hectare) peninsula located near the entrance to the Bay of Santander in the city of Santander, Cantabria, along the north coast of Spain. The peninsula is a popular recreational destination for both tourists and locals. The historic Palacio de la Magdalena is located on the peninsula, which along with its surrounding gardens, is designated as a cultural heritage site. Also located on the peninsula is a small zoo, three galleons of the Cantabrian mariner Vital Alsar Ramírez, two beaches and a lighthouse.

The Palacio de la Magdalena (Spanish for Magdalena Palace) is a palace in Santander (Cantabria), Spain. Its construction was financed by popular subscription and given to the Spanish royal family for use as a summer residence. It was built by architects Javier González Riancho and Gonzalo Bringas Vega between 1909 and 1911. The palace is located at the Magdalena Peninsula in the place where the old Fort of San Salvador de Hano was, which protected the entrance to the bay. Since 1932, it hosts the summer courses of the Menéndez Pelayo International University. In 1977, the City Council of Santander bought back the palace and the peninsula.

The Bay of Santander is both a comarca of Cantabria and the largest estuary on the North coast of Spain, with an extension of 22.42 km2 (9 km long and 5 km wide). Due to the influence of Santander and its metropolitan area, nearly half of the population of the autonomous community of Cantabria is gathered around it, which makes the anthropic pressure on this area of water quite notable. The entrance to the bay is lined by the Sardinero beaches, where the Isle of Mouro with its lighthouse can be found. The access to its interior is through a narrow channel of water between the Magdalena Peninsula, near to which are the Isle of the Tower and Horadada Island; and the sandbanks of the El Puntal, a long series of beaches and dunes that protect the tranquil inner waters of the bay. The morphology of the bay has suffered important changes in the last centuries. It is estimated that more than 50% of the original extension has been filled up, drying up a large amount of marsh area for grasslands, to expand the Port of Santander, and to create new industrial and residential areas. At the moment, work is going on to recover the seaside ecosystem in some areas of high ecological value.

University of Cantabria (UC) (Spanish: Universidad de Cantabria), is a public university located in Santander, Torrelavega and Comillas in Cantabria, Spain. It was founded in 1972 and is organized in 15 schools and colleges. It was selected as Campus of International Excellence by the Government of Spain in 2009. The UC is part, as a founding member, of the Group 9 of Spanish Universities (G9), created in 1997 with the aim of promoting collaboration between academic institutions. It is also integrated into the European alliance of universities EUNICE (European University for Customized Education). The University of Cantabria first appeared in the Academic Ranking of World Universities in 2013 in the range of 151-200 best universities in the world in the field of Physics. Since 2018, it has been present as an institution among the top 1,000 universities in the Shanghai Ranking, in addition to several of its specialized thematic categories.

Kostka College Santander, Cantabria, Spain, was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1960 and gradually grew to include pre-primary through baccalaureate. It is named for the young Jesuit saint Stanislaus Kostka. It began offering the baccalaureate under the name Institute Jose Maria Pereda, but in 1968 it began expanding its offerings and took its present name.Kostka is the first organization in Cantabria and only eleventh educational institution in Spain to receive the silver seal according to the EFQM Excellence Model for organizational excellence. The evaluation was done by Bureau Veritas.
