Eschenberg Observatory

Mattenbach is a district in the Swiss city of Winterthur. It is district number 7. The district comprises the quarters Deutweg, Gutschick and Endliker.

Kyburg Castle (German: Schloss Kyburg) is a castle in Switzerland, overlooking the Töss river some 3 km south-east of Winterthur, in Kyburg municipality, canton of Zürich. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

The Winterthur massacre was an anti-Semitic episode in Winterthur, present-day Switzerland, which occurred in 1349. The Jews sought refuge in the castle of Kyburg, east of Zurich, from the surrounding cities of Winterthur and Diessenhofen, as well as from all towns under the hegemony of the Duke of Austria. They had probably started to gather there in November 1348, when the first Black Death persecutions started. Probably pessured by the other Imperial cities, Albert II, Duke of Austria eventually ordered the Jews to be put to death by burning. On 18 September 1349, 330 Jews were burned in the fortress. The Winterthur massacre was one of the deadliest massacres of Jews in Swiss areas.

It takes its name from that city's quarter of Sennhof, in which it is located, together with the adjoining municipality of Kyburg. The station is located on the Tösstal line. It is an intermediate stop on Zurich S-Bahn services S11 and S26.

Winterthur Grüze railway station (German: Bahnhof Winterthur Grüze) is a railway station that serves Grüze, an industrial zone in district number 2, Winterthur, a city in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland.Opened in 1855, the station was built as a junction station and is the largest freight hub in Winterthur. It forms part of both the Tösstal line and the St. Gallen–Winterthur line. At the moment, it has no direct connection to the city bus service. The roofs of the station platforms are listed buildings and are unique in Switzerland.

The Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW; German: Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften) located in the city of Winterthur, with facilities in Zurich and Wädenswil, is one of the largest University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland and is part of the Zürcher Fachhochschule.Currently, the university has eight schools, covering architecture and civil engineering, health, linguistics, life sciences and facility management, applied psychology, social work, engineering and management and law.The ZHAW School of Management and Law obtained AACSB accreditation in 2015.

Kyburg is a settlement and former municipality in the district of Pfäffikon in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland, since 2016 part of the municipality of Illnau-Effretikon.
