Capital City Airport (IATA: HAR, ICAO: KCXY, FAA LID: CXY) is a public airport in Fairview Township, York County, Pennsylvania, three miles (5 km) southeast of Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania.Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but Capital City Airport is CXY to the FAA and HAR to the IATA (which assigned CXY to Cat Cays Airport, Bimini Islands, Bahamas.)

The New Cumberland Defense Depot is a United States Department of Defense military base located a short distance south of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in Fairview Township, York County, Pennsylvania. It is adjacent to the Capital City Airport and a short distance east of the Harrisburg West Shore interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76, which forms the southern boundary of the base) with Interstate 83 and to the north Interstate 81. The Susquehanna River forms the base's eastern boundary. The depot covers 851 acres (344 ha) and includes the Administrative Support Center East and DLA Distribution. It employs about 3,000 civilian and 100 military personnel. The Quartermaster Department had built the depot at New Cumberland in 1918, originally naming it the Marsh Run Storage Depot.

Spring Creek is a 6.0-mile-long (9.7 km) tributary of the Susquehanna River in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Spring Creek rises in Lower Paxton Township, flowing through adjacent areas such as Paxtang, Oakleigh, Progress, Lawnton, and Colonial Park. The stream flows in a westerly direction, eventually joining the Susquehanna River in southern Harrisburg. The tributary Slotznick Run enters Spring Creek at Progress.Spring Creek parallels the 2-mile stretch of the Cameron Parkway section of the Capital Area Greenbelt in South Harrisburg. Spring Creek joins the Susquehanna at Harrisburg, just near the confluence of the Paxton Creek. The historical Rutherford Springhouse was built over a Paxtang portion of the creek in the 1740s to protect the water from poisoning by the Native Susquehannock Indians. Notably, Paxtang Park was located along the creek's banks.

Steelton High School, historically known as Felton School, is a historic high school building located at Steelton, Pennsylvania. It was built in various stages between 1882 and 1990. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Naval Support Activity Philadelphia is a 134 acres (0.209 sq mi) United States Navy base located in the Lawncrest section of Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and located 113 miles (182 km) east of its parent command, NSA Mechanicsburg. With the exception of a few buildings, much of the base is industrial in style, and consists of office-converted warehouses for the various Naval supply commands located on the installation. According to the base guide, its warehouse offices and other buildings amount to 2,250,000 square feet (209,000 m2) of cubic space on the base. It also provides support services to Navy units that are situated at the Philadelphia Navy Yard Annex.

Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg is an 806 acres (1.259 sq mi) naval supply depot just outside of Mechanicsburg in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Largely industrial, and home to over 150 warehouses containing 8,800,000 square feet (820,000 m2) of storage space and other buildings, it is the headquarters of the Naval Supply Systems Command. It is also the parent installation of Naval Support Activity Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Navy Yard Annex, which share the same commanding officer.

The Eastern Distribution Center (EDC), located in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Harrisburg, is home to the largest distribution facility operated by the United States Department of Defense. It is managed by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and is part of the Defense Distribution Depot Susquehanna (DDSP), which includes the operations of the nearby Naval Support Activity (NSA) in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

The Harrisburg Incinerator, now under private operation as Susquehanna Resource Management Complex (SRMC), is a waste-to-energy incinerator in South Harrisburg, Pennsylvania built and operated by the city from 1972 to 2003, which was an ongoing source of contention due to toxic air emissions and unforeseen costs which greatly contributed to the bankruptcy of the city. Since December 23, 2013, it is now owned by Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA) and operated by Covanta.

Steelton is a borough in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States, 4 miles (6 km) southeast of Harrisburg. The population was 6,263 at the 2020 census. The borough is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Ashton-Hursh House is a historic home and outbuilding located at 204 Limekiln Road in Fairview Township, York County, Pennsylvania. Built in stages between approximately 1764 and 1830, it is a 2+1⁄2-story, "L"-shaped, Federal style log, frame, and stone dwelling. Situated on a limestone foundation, the home also has a gable roof and three Greek Revival-style porticos. The frame outbuilding may date as early as 1734; it was renovated circa 1830. The outbuilding is believed by historians to be York County's oldest occupied structure. This property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

New Cumberland is a borough in easternmost Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. New Cumberland was incorporated on March 21, 1831. The population was 7,277 at the 2010 census. The borough is noted for its historic downtown which includes landmarks like the historic West Shore Theater and the yearly Apple Festival, which gathers hundreds of vendors and thousands of visitors.New Cumberland is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle metropolitan statistical area.

Paxton Creek is a 13.9-mile-long (22.4 km) tributary of the Susquehanna River in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The Paxton Creek watershed covers an area of 27.4 square miles (71 km2) and joins the Susquehanna River at South Harrisburg, Harrisburg.The name Paxton, or Paxtang, is derived the Susquehannock term "Peshtank", meaning "where the waters stand" or "the place of springs". It is born from two branches on the southern slopes of Blue Mountain to form the main stem in Lower Paxton Township. It then forms Wildwood Lake in Susquehanna Township, artificially formed in 1908 by damming the creek for recreational activities. Later, it extends downstream approximately 6.2 miles to Harrisburg as a concrete channel built in 1914 (against the wishes of Warren Manning) to mitigate urban runoff and flooding, which is common after severe storms. This urban section of the confluence has been subject to planned restoration efforts, with a 2018 study published by PennDOT stating a goal aiming to "restore the creek’s ecosystem and improve its functions and services" by reversing the negative effects of the concrete channel and its degradation. Where the stream passes through the city it receives the discharges from several large sewers, which, during dry weather, pollute the water and foul the shores and bottom of the creek to a very objectionable extent.
