Apple Valley Airport (FAA LID: OR61) is a private airport located one mile southeast of Buxton in Washington County, Oregon, United States. Built in 1994 by a Portland TV personality Rod Anders, the subsequent owners have pushed to expand operations at the airport. Near U.S. 26 west of the Portland metropolitan area, the 2,470 feet (750 m) long turf airstrip is used for agricultural operations.

Glenwood is an unincorporated community in Washington County, Oregon, United States, northwest of Forest Grove on Oregon Route 6. The name Glenwood was first used for this locale around 1880. The post office was established in 1886 as "Glenwood", although it was not always in the same location. In the 1920s, the Gales Creek and Wilson River Railroad had a terminal station nearby named "Aagaard" (or "Aagard") after Olaf B. Aagaard, owner of the Aagaard Lumber Company. The Gales Creek Logging Company also operated a site at or near this original mill. The name of the station was soon changed to Glenwood to match the post office.Multiple lumber companies operated in this area and one of these operations is thought to have been a possible cause of the start of the first Tillamook Burn fires. During the salvaging effort some of these companies joined together to form the Consolidated Timber Company, which helped provide lumber during World War II and provided employment for those willing to dare the dangerous conditions often employing gyppo loggers.From 1959 until 1995, the community was the site of the Trolley Park museum, later renamed the Oregon Electric Railway Museum, which is now part of Antique Powerland in Brooks.Glenwood has a Forest Grove mailing address, but the Postal Service will deliver mail addressed to Glenwood. The ZIP code is 97116.The Glenwood Store has been owned by various owners over the years. It was remodeled and reopened fairly recently (as of June 2022.) It is the last store before the long road to Tillamook. The junction of where it is located has a bridge that connects to the Glenwood Park neighborhood. There is also an old park, along Gales Creek by the store, that used to be along the old wagon road before the highway was put in. There used to be cabins there, however there are no longer any signs of their presence. This area is private and owned by the Glenwood store. Gales Creek Camp, for Children with Type 1 Diabetes, is located on the west side of town. [1] South of the Glenwood Store is a locally owned Mediterranean influenced Restaurant with catering and a brewery. [2] This used to be the location of the "Fernwood" or "Firwood" store. There was also a small town called "Fir" here with a temporary post office.

The Banks–Vernonia State Trail is a paved rail trail and state park in northwest Oregon in the United States. It runs for 21 miles (34 km), primarily north–south, between the towns of Vernonia in Columbia County and Banks in Washington County on an abandoned railroad bed. Banks is about 25 miles (40 km) west of Portland. The 8-foot (2.4 m) wide trail is open to non-motorized uses such as hiking and biking. A 4-foot (1.2 m) wide horse trail parallels the hiking and biking trail. The rail trail crosses 12 bridges and the Buxton Trestle, a former railroad trestle bridge that is 600 feet (180 m) long and 80 feet (24 m) high. A second railroad trestle, the Tophill (or Horseshoe) Trestle, was damaged by fire in 1986 and is bypassed with a series of switchbacks at the Tophill trailhead. Amenities available at some locations in the park include picnicking, fishing, wildlife watching, forests, bird-watching, historic sites, public restrooms, parking, horse hitching posts, a loading platform, and a whistle stop shelter. The rail trail connects to a network of about 20 miles (32 km) of unpaved mountain-biking trails in L. L. "Stub" Stewart State Park. About 14,000 people used the rail trail in 2004.

Gales Creek is an unincorporated community in Washington County, Oregon, United States on Oregon Route 8 northwest of Forest Grove in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range. Gales Creek shares its name with a stream, a tributary of the Tualatin River, that was named for pioneer Joseph Gale, who settled in the area The locale was sometimes called Gales City. Gales Creek post office was established in 1874. In the 19th century the town was the last stagecoach stop on the way to Tillamook. Gales Creek Elementary School was established in 1859 and is served by the Forest Grove School District. The school closed in 2011, and currently acts as a special education treatment facility. The community is part of the Forest Grove Fire and Rescue district and has a fire station.

Manning is an unincorporated community in Washington County, Oregon, United States on the Sunset Highway (U.S. Route 26/Oregon Route 47). The Banks–Vernonia State Trail, a rail trail conversion, passes through Manning. The NorthWest POINT offers twice-daily roundtrip intercity bus service between Portland and Astoria with a flag stop in Manning.

The Dennis L. Edwards Tunnel is a highway tunnel in northwestern Oregon that carries the Sunset Highway (U.S. Route 26) through the Northern Oregon Coast Range mountains near the unincorporated community of Manning, 27 miles (43 km) west of Portland. The tunnel was completed in 1940 and is 772.0 feet (235.3 m) long.The tunnel was originally known as the Sunset Tunnel until 2002. It was renamed in honor of Dennis L. Edwards, an Oregon Department of Transportation worker who was killed on January 28, 1999 when part of the tunnel collapsed while he was inspecting it for damage caused by heavy rains. The tunnel was closed for five weeks for repairs, and renamed for Edwards three years later.

L. L. "Stub" Stewart Memorial State Park is a 1,654-acre (669 ha) Oregon state park in Washington County near the community of Buxton. When the park opened in 2007 it was the first new full-service state park in Oregon since 1972. The park includes hiking trails, mountain bike trails, horseback riding, RV and tent campsites, and cabins among other amenities. Located off Oregon Route 47 in the foothills of the Northern Oregon Coast Range, the park connects to the Banks–Vernonia State Trail. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park has been a favorite astronomy spot for amateur astronomers in the area, with organizations such as OMSI hosting multiple star parties at the venue. The site is a great spot for astronomers to set up their telescopes and view the night sky as the trees shield the hilltop from the light pollution from the cities in the area.

Sunset Speedway is a .25-mile (0.40 km), dirt oval track in Banks in the U.S. state of Oregon. Opened in 1986, races are held from April through September. Racing classes include IMCA Modifieds, Northwest Wingless Tour Sprints, Street Stocks, NW Extreme Sprints, NW Extreme Late Models, USAC Midgets, WRS Late Model Lites, ASCS Sprints, Dwarfs, and 4-Bees among others.
