Faberstown

Ludgershall railway station was a railway station which served the town of Ludgershall in Wiltshire, England from 1882 to 1961.

Ludgershall ( LUG-ər-shawl, with a hard g) is a town and civil parish 16 miles (26 km) north east of Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. It is on the A342 road between Devizes and Andover. The parish includes Faberstown which is contiguous with Ludgershall, and the hamlet of Biddesden which is 2 miles (3.2 km) to the east on the border with Hampshire.

Perriam Down or Perriam Downs, near Ludgershall, Wiltshire, England was a venue for five first-class cricket matches and at least three other matches between 1787 and 1796. It was a favoured venue of landowner Thomas Assheton Smith I who patronised cricket in the area and organised all the matches.

Ludgershall Castle is a ruined 12th-century fortified royal residence at Ludgershall in Wiltshire, England. Three large walls still remain of the castle, which was turned into a hunting lodge by Henry III but fell into disuse by the 15th century. The ruin was listed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument in 1981.

Redenham Park is an estate in the civil parish of Appleshaw,[A] Hampshire, England, surrounding Redenham House, an 18th-century Grade II* listed country house.The house was built in 1784 for Sir Charles Pollen and is a classical mansion faced with Bath stone, standing to two storeys with a slate roof and sash windows, and a central porch with coupled Ionic columns.It descended in the Pollen family via Sir John Pollen, 2nd Baronet to the latter's great nephew Sir Richard Hungerford Pollen, 4th Baronet. In the late 19th century the house was occupied by Major A.W.Fulcher, a well-known cricketer and yachtsman. From 1976 the house and estate belonged to Sir John Clark, the chairman of Plessey. It is now occupied by his widow, Lady Olivia Clark. The park and gardens have been described as 'the perfect setting for a Jane Austen novel'. They comprise 2.5 hectares of garden, 24 hectares of parkland, 36.5 hectares of woodland and 337 hectares of farmland. The gardens are featured in The Good Gardens Guide and are open to the public by appointment.

Biddesden House (or Biddesden Park) is a Grade I listed English country house in east Wiltshire, about 5 miles (8 km) north-west of Andover, Hampshire. The house stands in parkland about 2 miles (3 km) east of Ludgershall village, and is home to an Arabian Horse stud farm.

Perham Down is a village in Wiltshire, England, in Tidworth parish on the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain. It lies on a minor road about 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) east of the town of Tidworth and 1+1⁄4 miles (2.0 km) southwest of the town of Ludgershall. The county border with Hampshire is nearby and the nearest large town is Andover, Hampshire, about 7 miles (11 km) to the southeast. The main feature of the village is Perham Down Camp which was rebuilt between 1972 and 1974 and renamed Swinton Barracks at that time.On Lamb Down to the south of the village is a linear earthwork, possibly a prehistoric boundary marker; it may have extended further north but that section would have been destroyed when the barracks were built.For elections to Wiltshire Council, Perham Down falls within Ludgershall and Perham Down electoral division, electing one councillor. Boundary changes in 2020, effective from the 2021 election, place Perham within the Tidworth East & Ludgershall South division.

Swinton Barracks is a military installation accommodating two engineer regiments at Perham Down in Wiltshire, England. The site is on the east edge of Salisbury Plain, about 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) east of the garrison at Tidworth. The camp forms part of the Tidworth, Netheravon and Bulford (TidNBul) Garrison.

Kimpton is a village and civil parish in the Test Valley district of Hampshire, England. The village is situated west of Andover, in the north of the county, and has a boundary with Ludgershall, in Wiltshire. South of Kimpton there is Thruxton motor racing circuit, in the parish of Thruxton. The main settlement in the parish is the village of Kimpton, in the south of the parish; in the north there is the hamlet of Shoddesden. In the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 352.Before the reorganisation of local government in 1974, the parish was in Andover Rural District.The A342 passes through the north-east corner of the parish. The Midland and South Western Junction Railway, which runs parallel to the road, was closed to passengers in 1961, however the line remains open as far as Ludgershall to serve an army depot on the edge of the town. Kimpton Down, a rural area in the north and west of the parish, contains the remains of several historical sites including bowl barrows and Roman buildings. Excavations near Shoddesden found a former Iron Age/Romano-British settlement site.A racehorse training complex at Kimpton Down Stables was opened in 2003 by Toby Balding. Ralph Beckett bought Kimpton Down Stables and gallops in late 2010, and trained Talent to win the 2013 Oaks at Epsom Downs Racecourse The Grade I listed Church of St Peter & St Paul is situated in the village. The church is built of flint, stone rubble and brick, and has a tower and a cruciform layout. The oldest parts of the church are the nave and chancel, built in the 13th century; other parts were added later. Kimpton Manor, originally built in 1444, is one of the oldest inhabited houses in Hampshire. The village has a small pub called The Welcome Stranger, The Kimpton Apple Press, a park and a village hall which also acts as a pre-school.

Its nearest town is Andover, which lies approximately 4.8 miles (7.7 km) south-east from the village. Redenham House is a Grade II* listed country house which stands in Redenham Park.

Chute is a civil parish in east Wiltshire, England, on the border with Hampshire. It includes the main village of Upper Chute and the smaller settlements of Lower Chute, Chute Standen, Chute Cadley and Mount Cowdown. The settlements are sometimes known collectively as "The Chutes". The nearest town is Andover, Hampshire, about 6 miles (10 km) to the southeast. Conholt House and Conholt Park are in the northeast of the parish.
