Boon Keng

James Cook University Singapore is a branch of James Cook University, based in Townsville, Australia. In addition to Singapore and Townsville, JCU operates another campus in Cairns, Australia. JCU Singapore was opened in 2003 as part of the university's strategic intent of "Creating a brighter future for life in the tropics world-wide through graduates and discoveries that make a difference". The university is ranked in the top 2%* of universities in the world and is the leading tropical research university in Australia. JCU is registered under the Committee for Private Education Singapore (CPE). JCU Singapore's campus is located at 149 Sims Drive, in between the Kallang and Aljunied MRT stations.

Kallang MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West line in Kallang, Singapore. Located next to the Kallang River and along Sims Avenue at the junction of Lorong 1 Geylang, this used to be the nearest MRT station to the National Stadium until Stadium MRT station on the Circle line opened on 17 April 2010. Today, a sheltered walkway links Kallang station with the new Singapore Sports Hub. Kallang station is the last above-ground station on the eastern section of the East West line for trains travelling westwards. The Lorong 1 Geylang bus terminal is located across the station.

Gay World, formally known as Happy World was one of the famous trio of "World" amusement parks in Kallang, Singapore. It was formerly located between Geylang Road and Grove Road (now Mountbatten Road). Together with the other two "Worlds", Great World Amusement Park (1930s–1978) at Kim Seng Road and New World Amusement Park (1923–1987) at Jalan Besar, Gay World Park was hustling and bustling with nightlife during the 1930s to 1960s. These amusement parks were especially popular among Singaporeans, as it was the locals' only form of entertainment, before television or shopping malls were introduced. Gay World Park was an all-in-one complex, where visitors were offered a wide range of entertainment, from films to shopping and games. However, as its popularity began to dip in the 1970s, Gay World Park was eventually demolished in 2000 to make way for residential estates.

Geylang Bahru MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Downtown Line in Kallang, Singapore. The station is located under Kallang Bahru, at the junction with Geylang Bahru, hence its name. Nearby developments are largely residential. The Kallang Basin Swimming Complex and Kallang MRT station are located near to this station.

Geylang Road is a major trunk road linking Singapore's eastern suburban areas with the country's central business district. Deriving its name from the area of Geylang where the road cuts through, it is fronted on both sides by low-rise shophouses protected statutorily from urban redevelopment in keeping with its history and urban heritage. The road itself begins at the east where it meets Changi Road at the junction with Geylang Serai and Joo Chiat Road and continues westward until Kallang Road over the Kallang River at Sir Arthur's Bridge. Previously it was the only main thoroughfare linking Changi and Kallang, the former being the location of the Changi Airport while the latter was home to Singapore's first purpose-built civil airport, the Kallang Airport. As traffic mushroomed, Geylang Road was converted into a one-way street, and a parallel road, Sims Avenue, was constructed to the north to cater for traffic in the opposite direction.

Hua Giam Si (traditional Chinese: 華嚴禪寺; simplified Chinese: 华严禅寺), is a Buddhist monastery in Singapore. The center was originally set up by Venerable Zhen Ding. The present premises are located at Geylang, Singapore.

The Singapore Badminton Hall (Abbreviation: SBH; Chinese: 新加坡羽毛球馆; pinyin: xīnjiāpō yǔmáoqiúguǎn) is an indoor sports hall for badminton located at 1 Lorong 23 Geylang in Geylang, Singapore.

Singapore School for the Deaf (SSD) was a school for deaf children in Singapore. It was operated by the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf). It opened in 1963.In January 1977, Dr. Jerry Goh Ewe Hong established the Philosophy of Total Communication or TC at the school.From the 1980s to the early 1990s, its enrollment was about 300. By the 2010s, the number of students was below 20, and the school in 2011 froze enrolment, resulting in a student body of two in 2017. That year, the school closed and sent its students to Lighthouse School.

Kallang is a planning area and residential town located in the Central Region of Singapore. Development of the town is centered around the Kallang River, the longest river in Singapore. Kallang Planning Area is bounded by Toa Payoh in the north, Geylang in the east, Marine Parade in the southeast, Marina East in the south, the Downtown Core in the southwest, Rochor and Newton in the west, as well as Novena in the northwest.Throughout its history, Kallang was home to several national landmarks, some of which were built along the banks of the Kallang Basin, including the old National Stadium as well as the country's first purpose-built civil airport, the Kallang Airport. The famous Kallang Roar and Kallang Wave could have their roots traced to the former National Stadium which hosted 18 National Day Parades, as well as numerous notable cultural and sporting events. As such, Kallang played a pivotal role in Singapore's aviation and sporting histories. Today, Kallang is best known for being the location of the Singapore Sports Hub, which is home to the new National Stadium and the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The new National Stadium hosted the National Day Parade in 2016, while the Singapore Indoor Stadium frequently hosts world-class concerts and performances by renowned artists and musicians from around Asia and the world.

Kallang Bahru is a subzone within the planning area of Kallang, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). This subzone is bounded by Bendemeer Road and Sungei Whampoa in the north; the Kallang River in the east; Kallang Road and Sims Avenue in the south; and Lavender Street in the west."Kallang Bahru" is also the name of a two-way road in the area. This road connects the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) in the northeast with Lavender Street in the southwest, with major junctions located at Geylang Bahru and Boon Keng Road. This road is unique as it is one of the few roads in Singapore to have a name without any generic element. The name of the subzone was derived from this road. The subzone of Kallang Bahru consists mostly of industrial and office developments. Notable places include the Kallang Delivery Base of Singapore Post, Aperia Mall and Victoria Wholesale Centre. Bendemeer MRT station along the Downtown Line is located within this subzone.

Kwan Yin Chan Lin Zen Meditation Centre (KYCL) (Chinese: 観音禪林) is a Buddhist zen centre in Singapore and Malaysia. The organization was set up by Venerable Chi Boon (釋繼聞法師) in 1991. The present KYCL centres are located at Geylang, Singapore, KYCL International Zen Centre at Pengerang, Desaru and Fu Hui Yuan at Muar (inaugurated in 2018) in Johor, Malaysia.

Bendemeer (Chinese: 明地迷亚, Tamil: பென்ட்டிமியிர்) is a subzone within the planning area of Kallang, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). Its boundary is made up of the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) in the north; Serangoon Road, the Kallang River, Sungei Whampoa and Bendemeer Road in the east; Lavender Street and Balestier Road in the south; and the Central Expressway (CTE) in the west.Bendemeer is primarily residential, consisting of both public housing built by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and private housing. Educational institutions within this subzone include Hong Wen School, Bendemeer Primary School, Bendemeer Secondary School and Northlight School. Other notable places within Bendemeer include Boon Keng MRT station along the North East Line, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital, Kallang Community Club, Kallang Neighbourhood Police Post, Boon Keng Fire Post and Central Sikh Temple. The upcoming Kallang Polyclinic will be sited within this subzone.
