Asti Leku Ikastola is a Basque private school, created in 1963, located in Portugalete (Biscay). It currently has 1,800 students (approx.) and is one of the largest private schools in the Basque Autonomous Community and in the whole Basque Country. It is a primary and secondary school and it offers kindergarten, primary education, secondary education, Baccalaureate education and Selectividad (from 2 to 18 years). Nowadays it is one of the private schools most known and prominent in the Basque Country. The school was created in the Francoist Spain and its objective was to instill the Basque language, the Basque culture and the historical and cultural values of Basque Country. The owner of the school is the enterprise "Asti Leku co-op" (consumers' co-operative business) and is associated in Ikastolen Elkartea, association of all the Basque Country's co-operative owned private schools.

Club Portugalete is a Spanish football team based in Portugalete, in the autonomous community of Basque Country. Founded in 1909, it plays in Tercera División RFEF – Group 4, holding home games at Estadio La Florida, with a capacity of 5,000 seats.

Kabiezes is the northern terminus of line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Kabiezes, in the municipality of Santurtzi. Construction of the station and the track between Santurtzi and Kabiezes began in 2009 and was delayed after a mudslide flooded the tunnel connecting both stations. It opened on 28 June 2014.

Club Deportivo Santurtzi Kirol Elkartea is a football team based in Santurtzi in the autonomous community of Basque Country. Founded in 1952, it plays in Tercera División. Its stadium is San Jorge, with a capacity of 2,000 seats.

Portugalete is a station on line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in central Portugalete. Opening on 20 January 2007, it acted as the northern terminus of the line until the line was extended to Santurtzi.There is a station on the Cercanías Bilbao commuter railway network with the same name, but the two stations are not connected.

Peñota is a station on line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is named after the neighborhood of Peñota, in the municipality of Santurtzi, however all the station entrances are within the Portugalete city limits. It opened on 4 July 2009.There is a station on the Cercanías Bilbao commuter railway network with the same name, but the two stations are not connected.

Portugalete is a town lying to the west of Bilbao in the province of Biscay in the Autonomous Community of Basque Country, northern Spain. The town has 45,766 inhabitants (2019 census) and is part of Bilbao's metropolitan area. It is located at the mouth of the Estuary of Bilbao, on the left bank. Its land area is only 3.21 km², resulting in a population density of 15,908.4 persons/km², the fifth-most densely populated municipality in Spain (following Mislata, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Benetússer, and Santa Coloma de Gramenet). In 1300 Portugalete became the main competitor port for Bilbao, but it lost its predominant position in 1511 when the trade privileges were granted to the Port of Bilbao instead of Portugalete. Despite its name, it is not near the Spanish border with Portugal and its name is not etymologically related with that country: it derives, instead, from a phonetic adaptation of its Basque name (Portu-Ugaldeta) (edges of the port) to the Spanish language.

Ortuella is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the Autonomous Community of Basque Country, northern Spain. Nowadays part of Greater Bilbao region, until the beginning of the 19th century it was integrated in the Valley of Somorrostro of the Encartaciones next to the Santurtzi. In 1901 the locality segregated from the Council of the Santurtzi, those days happening to denominate the Santurce-Ortuella. This segregation was motivated by an increase of population due to the mining height of end of the 19th century, being the district of Ortuella the one of greater population in the council. In the 1980s, and by means of the resolution of March 27, 1981, the name of the municipality definitively lost the term "Santurce", simply being "Ortuella", which was the usual name used by their citizens. Ortuella was the site of a deadly explosion at the Marcelino Ugalde Primary School on October 23, 1980, that killed 50 schoolchildren and 14 adults, and injured killed and injured an additional 128.The patron saint of Ortuella is Saint Felix of Cantalica (May 18), name of the main church of the municipality.

Santurtzi is a station on line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is also the southern terminus of the Mamariga shuttle. It is located in the municipality of Santurtzi. It opened, together with the neighboring Peñota station, on 4 July 2009.There is a station on the Cercanías Bilbao commuter railway network with the same name, but the two stations are not connected.

Abatxolo is a station on line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Azeta, in the municipality of Portugalete. It opened on 20 January 2007.

Santurtzi (Spanish: Santurce; Basque: Santurtzi [santuɾts̻i]) is a port town in the province of Biscay, in the autonomous community of Basque Country, Spain. It is located in the Bilbao Abra bay, near the mouth of the Nervión river, on its left bank, 14 km downriver from Bilbao and forms part of the Greater Bilbao agglomeration. It has a population of 45,853 (2019) and a land area of 6.77 km². The district of Santurce of the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico derives its name from Santurtzi.

The Vizcaya Bridge (Bizkaiko Zubia in Basque, Puente de Vizcaya in Spanish) is a transporter bridge that links the towns of Portugalete and Las Arenas (part of Getxo) in the Biscay province of Spain, crossing the mouth of the Nervion River. People in the area, and even the official website, commonly call it the Puente Colgante (literally "hanging bridge", used for suspension bridge in Spanish), although its structure is quite different from a suspension bridge.
