St Petersburg is a suburb in north-eastern Hamilton in New Zealand. In the 2013 census it was in meshblock 0951707, which was part of Sylvester area and had a population of 822 in 240 houses. In 2018 that meshblock was split into 4 meshblocks and is part of Flagstaff South. Others also describe it as part of Flagstaff.A 2012 photo shows Petersburg Drive without any housing.At peak hours in school terms it is served by bus 4N, which started to run on 18 January 2016, and had increased services in 2017.

Pukete Bridge is a concrete box girder bridge in Hamilton, New Zealand, spanning the Waikato River. The bridge connects the western and eastern stretches of Wairere Drive. In February 2011 an upgrade began including expand the number of lanes from two to four. It was originally expected to be completed in late 2013, but was finished in May 2013. During the early part of 2011 thousands of tonnes of earth were removed by truck and taken 3 km to build up 2 large earth ramps as part of the New Zealand State Highway 1 bypass at Horotiu. As the original road had been built largely in a gully, this included the removal of trees and other vegetation planted on the gully sides to block traffic noise. The existing cycle lane will be incorporated in the new roadway and a new three-metre-wide cycle and pedestrian clip-on added on the southern side of the bridge. By Easter 2013 4 laning was complete. The cycle lane has acoustic barrier of blue and yellow plastic panels which prevent views of the river from vehicles on the south side. The yellow panels signify the kowhai trees lining the banks of the river, and the blue panels represent the water and sky. The north side of the bridge has been lined with crash barriers to prevent cars crashing into the river after an accident. A driver was killed in 2012 after her 4-wheel drive went out of control and plunged through the barrier into the river.Traffic at Pukete Bridge in 2006 was 25,200 vehicles a day. In 2018 it was 38,400.

Te Rapa cogeneration

The Te Rapa cogeneration plant is a 44 MW cogeneration plant owned and operated by Contact Energy. It is located at the Fonterra dairy factory, at Te Rapa near Hamilton in New Zealand, and was commissioned in 1999.The construction of the plant came as part of a wider upgrade to the dairy factory proposed in 1997. The original capacity applied for under the Resource Management Act was 150 MW, but there was opposition from Greenpeace about the carbon dioxide emissions and Tainui about pollution of the Waikato River; Subsequently the planned capacity was reduced to 45 MW and the change was announced at an Environment Court prehearing. The Waikato Times reported that “Greenpeace was pleased [with the change] but said even the smaller plant would pump out 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide”.The plant is based on a gas turbine (a GE frame 6B) that can produce up to 44 MW of electricity. Hot exhaust gases from the turbine are ducted to a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) to raise steam. The HRSG has duct burners to increase steam output, which can be up to 180 tons of steam per hour.The cogeneration plant is designed for flexible operation, and can provide electricity to the dairy factory, export electricity to the local network or import electricity for use in the dairy factory. A common operating mode is 30 MW of electricity exported and 15 MW plus 120 tons per hour of steam provided to the dairy factory.A 127 MW gas/diesel fired auxiliary boiler is used when the cogeneration plant is not in operation.Fonterra has been authorised by the Waikato Regional Council to install and commission an alternative combustion plant if the co-generation plant ceases to be available.
