Hamilton Zoo (Māori: Rawhi Whakaaturanga o Kirikiriroa) is the main zoological garden of Hamilton, New Zealand. Covering 25 hectares (62 acres), it is situated on Brymer Road in the Hamilton suburb of Rotokauri, on the outskirts of the metropolitan area towards the northwest. It is owned by the Hamilton City Council with the Department of Recreation and Welfare handling the day-to-day running of the site. Hamilton Zoo is the first zoo in New Zealand to become fully accredited by the Zoo and Aquarium Association.

The Hamilton Astronomical Society Observatory is located next to the Hamilton Zoo in Brymer Road to the west of Hamilton City, New Zealand. The Hamilton Astronomical Society was founded on 3 July, 1933 and is one of New Zealand's oldest astronomical societies.The observatory instruments include two radio telescopes (32'/10m and 26'/8m diameter), and a range of optical instruments, including one 24" Classical cassegrain telescope, a 14" and 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, and one 12" Dobsonian telescope.The observatory is open to the public on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 7:30pm (8:30pm during daylight saving).

Lake Rotokauri is located approximately 7 km to the northwest of Hamilton, New Zealand. It is a peat lake, and is one of the Waipa Peat lakes. The lake has a maximum depth of four metres and the open water covers approximately 77 hectares. Lake Rotokauri drains into the Waipā River via the Ohote Stream.The lake catchment area has a mixture of land uses including residential, industrial and pastoral.

Thornton is a name sometimes used for part of a suburb in western Hamilton in New Zealand.Aldershot Place, Arundel Place, Dorchester Place, Farnborough Drive, Hadrians Way, Highbury Place, Sandhurst Place, Twickenham Place, Wembley Close and Wimbledon Close were named in 1997 by Thornton Estates Ltd., the developer, using English place names. They are more usually described as being in Nawton and are in the Nawton West census area.

Burbush is a semi-rural suburb in western Hamilton in New Zealand. It is one of the future urban zones of Hamilton, The southern part of Burbush includes Baverstock. Burbush was taken into Hamilton with the 10th city extension in November 1989. Until then it had been in the Waipa County Council area. Prior to the 1863 invasion of the Waikato the area was occupied by Ngāti Koura, Ngāti Ruru and Ngāti Ngamurikaitaua, all being Tainui hapū.

Grandview Heights is a suburb in western Hamilton in New Zealand.Grandview had a population of 3,132 at the 2013 New Zealand census, an increase of 147 people since the 2006 census. There were 1,467 males and 1,662 females. Figures have been rounded and may not add up to totals. 65.1% were European/Pākehā, 32.4% were Māori, 6.6% were Pacific peoples and 9.0% were Asian.In the 2018 census the name disappeared and most of the area became part of Nawton East.

Crawshaw is a compact suburb, close to Te Rapa railway depot, in western Hamilton in New Zealand, and extended in the 2018 census to cover 0.86 km2 (210 acres). Although sometimes referred to as a suburb in its own right, it is often described as being part of Nawton.The southern part of the suburb was developed about 1913, but the northern in the 1960s and 1970s. Housing New Zealand properties, tenanted by low income families have been reported to make up a majority of homes.Crawshaw Park was created between 1979 and 1985. It covers 3.1 ha (7.7 acres), includes some remnant kahikateas and forms a link in a green chain through Mooney Park, Bishops Lane Reserve, Crawshaw Park and Dominion Park.

Western Heights is a suburb on the western boundary of the city of Hamilton in the Waikato region of the North Island of New Zealand.Skyline landmarks include Dinsdale water reservoir, the adjacent Newcastle reservoir, one of the largest in the city holding 21,000 m3 (740,000 cu ft), and a block of gum trees. As these mature many have had to be culled.Google Earth maps highlight the area as the most clearly defined block to Hamilton's west. Situated as it is to the west of the ridge on the city's boundary, the suburb is a little exposed to wind but the views are good.Hamilton Boundary Road was renamed Brymer Road by Waipa County Council in 1967, after Mr Brymer, a local property owner. In 2007 $865,000 was spent widening it to become the main road through Western Heights. In 2018 it was used by 3,600 vehicles a day, 60 of them buses on the half hourly route 3. The Waikato Times is a daily newspaper published in Hamilton, New Zealand and owned by media business Stuff Ltd. It has a circulation to the greater Waikato region and became a tabloid paper in 2018.The newspaper has won the title of New Zealand Newspaper of the Year (in the category of up to 30,000 circulation) for two consecutive years: 2018 and 2019.

Stonebridge, also known as Stonebridge Estate, is a suburb close to the western boundary of Hamilton in New Zealand. It adjoins Dinsdale to the east and Western Heights to the north. The suburb was farmland until development began about 1996; a large farming operation still takes place in the land between sections today. The land is mainly rolling with a winding gully. Developers have modified the existing vegetation and landscape to create a series of ponds connected by a creek.In 2013 meshblock 0978002 had a population of 93 living in 33 houses.

Rotokauri railway station (formerly Te Rapa railway station), also known as The Hub, is a railway station, park and ride, and bus station in north Hamilton, New Zealand serving Rotokauri and Te Rapa. Located on the North Island Main Trunk, it was previously a flag station, and was closed in January 1971. It reopened as an integrated transport hub in 2021 as part of Te Huia services between Hamilton and Papakura (extended to The Strand in 2022). Services started on 6 April 2021.
