IJsselmeervogels (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɛi̯səlˈmeːrˌvoːɣəls]) is a Dutch amateur football club. With seven national amateur titles IJsselmeervogels is the most successful amateur club in the Netherlands. The Red-whites come from Bunschoten – Spakenburg, in the Dutch province Utrecht, on the shores of the former IJsselmeer lake. IJsselmeervogels is placed first on the all time rankings, measured by the number of points scored in games at the highest amateur level in Saturday league football. (Since introducing in 1970 it was first named First Class 'Eerste Klasse' and later Head Class 'Hoofdklasse'). These days, IJsselmeervogels plays in the highest amateur league 'Tweede Divisie'.

Sportpark De Westmaat is a sporting complex located in Spakenburg, Netherlands. It is home to football clubs IJsselmeervogels and SV Spakenburg. The complex has eight fields. There are two stadiums at the sports complex. There are also indoor facilities in case of bad weather.

Bunschoten (pronounced [ˈbʏnsxoːtə(n)] (listen)) is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. It lies about 7 km north of Amersfoort. Its territory comprises the original municipality of Bunschoten (created in 1204 by the bishop of Utrecht) and the former municipality of Duyst, De Haar and Zevenhuizen, which was a part of Hoogland from 1854 until 1971.

Spakenburg is a Dutch village north of Bunschoten. Spakenburg is formally called Bunschoten-Spakenburg since its fusion with Bunschoten. The village lies south of the IJsselmeer in the municipality Bunschoten, Utrecht. It is one of the few places left in the Netherlands where some women still wear local traditional clothes. In the 20th century, the two villages have grown quickly, and since about 1965 they form one single town, officially named Bunschoten. The football teams IJsselmeervogels and SV Spakenburg are located there, and contest one of the most popular local rivalries in Dutch amateur football. Also the basketball team BC Shooters is located there. On the last two Wednesday in July and the first two Wednesday of August, there is an event in Spakenburg called the Spakenburgse Dagen (Spakenburg days), in which people dress up in local traditional clothing and dance and generally celebrate. There is a roundabout, a clown for the children, a big market and music.

The Eemmeer (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈeːmeːr]) is a lake situated in the middle of the Netherlands between the provinces of Flevoland, Utrecht, and North Holland. It measures 13.4 square kilometres (5.2 sq mi) and contains one small island, the Dode Hond (Dead Dog). The Eemmeer is one in a series of peripheral lakes used to geohydrologically detach the low-lying polders of Flevoland from higher old mainland. The Eemmeer is connected to the peripheral lakes Gooimeer in the west, at the point where both lakes are crossed by the highway A27 bridge, and the Nijkerkernauw in the east.

The Eem ([eːm]; formerly the Amer) is a river in the central Netherlands with a length of approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi). The river is fed by the Vallei Canal and a number of Veluwe creeks, the most important of which are the Heiligenberger Beek, the Barneveldse Beek and the Lunterse Beek, all of which come together in Amersfoort. The river then runs through the Eem Valley to the east of Soest, Baarn and Eemnes before emptying into the Eemmeer. The Eem is responsible for the largest portion of the drainage of the Gelder Valley. The polders of the Eem are valuable scenic landscapes. Because of land subsidence as a result of drainage, the primate lies higher than the surrounding land. When water levels drop in the summer, water is pumped from the Nederrijn to the Eem through the Vallei Canal. Because of agricultural pollution carried by the Eem towards the Eemmeer, the biological richness of this lake is less than that of the other lakes which surround Flevoland. The Eem gives its name to the Eemian interglacial era.

Eemdijk is a village on the river Eem in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is in the municipality of Bunschoten, about 3 km west of Bunschoten-Spakenburg. Formerly, most of the population consisted of farmers or factory workers. The village has a small ferry, which is still in use (except on Sundays). The singer Drs. P recorded the video clip for his song De veerpont ("The ferry") in Eemdijk.It was first mentioned in the 18th century Dyk Huyse. The current name means dike on the Eem. In 1840, it was home to 156 pepole.

Duist is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht, located between Amersfoort and Bunschoten. The municipality existed between 1818 and 1857, when it was merged with the municipality of Hoogland. When Hoogland was annexed by Amersfoort in 1974, the Duist area was split off, and merged with the municipality of Bunschoten. The municipality of Duist contained the village of Zevenhuizen and the polder De Haar.

Nekkeveld is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Nijkerk, and lies about 8 km north of Amersfoort.Nekkeveld is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Nijkerk. It was first mentioned in 1250 as "in Ekelenvelde", and means field with oak trees. There are no official place name signs, however a farmer has put a sign in its driveway. Nekkeveld consists of about 7 houses.

Zevenhuizen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Bunschoten, and lies about 6 km north of the centre of Amersfoort. The village consists of a single road, the Zevenhuizerstraat. It was first mentioned in 1469 as Soevenhuysen, and means seven houses. Zevenhuizen is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Bunschoten-Spakenburg. Since 2012, it has place name signs. In 1840, it was home to 31 people. Nowadays, it consists of about 30 houses.

Achterhoek (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑxtərˌɦuk]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Nijkerk, and lies about 6 km north of Amersfoort.It was first mentioned in 1608 as "in den Achterhoeck", and means "far away corner". The postal authorities have placed it under Nijkerk. It has no place name signs. In 1840, Achterhoek and De Veenhuis had a combined population of 190 people. Nowadays, Achterhoek consists of about 30 houses.

Nieuwland is a district in the Dutch city Amersfoort. The project started in 1995 and finished in 2001 when an area with 4500 houses was completed.
