The London Borough of Barnet (pronunciation ) is a suburban London borough in North London. The borough was formed in 1965 from parts of the ceremonial counties of Middlesex and Hertfordshire. It forms part of Outer London and is the largest London borough by population with 384,774 inhabitants, also making it the 13th largest district in England. The borough covers an area of 86.74 square kilometres (33 sq mi), the fourth highest of the 32 London boroughs, and has a population density of 45.8 people per hectare, which ranks it 25th.Barnet borders the Hertfordshire district of Hertsmere to the north and five other London boroughs: Camden and Haringey to the southeast, Enfield to the east, as well as Harrow and Brent to the west of the ancient Watling Street (now the A5 road). The borough's major urban settlements are Hendon, Finchley, Golders Green, Friern Barnet, Chipping Barnet, Whetstone, and Edgware; there are also village settlements notably Totteridge and Arkley along with rural areas and countryside part of the Green Belt. The local authority is Barnet London Borough Council, based in Colindale.

St Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox School is the only state-funded Greek Orthodox secondary school in Britain. The school is named after St Andrew the Apostle. It is located in the Brunswick Park area of the London Borough of Barnet, and is also expected to serve families in the London Borough of Enfield, the Haringey, Hertfordshire and the wider Greek Orthodox community in North London.The headteacher was originally Mr Robert Ahearn, but is now Mrs Indira Warwick.The school has been established jointly by Russell Education Trust, the Greek Orthodox Church and the Classical Education Trust.

Brunswick Park is a neighbourhood, public park and electoral ward in the London Borough of Barnet. It is north of New Southgate and to the south of Oakleigh Park. Roads include Brunswick Park Road, Brunswick Avenue and Brunswick Crescent.

Barfield Allotments Nature Park is a small Site of Local Importance for Nature Conservation in Whetstone in the London Borough of Barnet. It was formerly used as allotments, and when these were abandoned there were plans to turn it into a formal play area, but this met with local opposition when slow worms and common lizards were found, showing its value for wildlife. A small playground was installed in the north-east corner, while the remainder became a wildlife site.Some plum and apple trees remain from the time when it was allotments, but it has now changed from grassland to scrub. The site has been partially cleared to create a species-rich mosaic, and a native hedgerow has been planted along the boundary. A pond and marshy area have also been created for amphibians, taking advantage of a natural spring.The entrance to the site is in the playground off Barfield Avenue, but there is no public access, apart from school parties by arrangement.

Bethune Park or Bethune Recreation Ground is a public park in Friern Barnet in the London Borough of Barnet. Most of it is mown grass, and it also has a large nature reserve area, a children's playground, a basketball court and a tennis court.The site was acquired by Friern Barnet Urban District Council in 1924, and opened as Bethune Recreation Ground in 1926. It is called Bethune Park in notices on the site. There is access from the corner of Manor Drive and Gresham Avenue, from Beaconsfield Road and from Bethune Avenue.

The Barnet Tunnel is a railway tunnel in north London on the East Coast Main Line. It has also been known as East Barnet Tunnel, Whetstone Tunnel, and Oakleigh Park Tunnel.

New Southgate Cemetery is a 22-hectare cemetery in Brunswick Park in the London Borough of Barnet. It was established by the Colney Hatch Company in the 1850s and became the Great Northern London Cemetery, with a railway service running from near Kings Cross station to a dedicated station at the cemetery, similar to the service of the London Necropolis Company to Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey. The railway service to Great Northern London Cemetery soon closed, but the cemetery has remained open.

Friern Barnet School (FBS) is a comprehensive school with approximately 800 students. The school is situated at the end of Hemington Avenue (a cul-de-sac) in Friern Barnet, North London. It is a short distance from the former Friern Barnet Town Hall (now converted to flats), and 2 other local schools The Compton School and Wren Academy.

The Compton School is situated on Summers Lane, North Finchley, London, England. It is an academy school for boys and girls aged eleven to eighteen and the school years range from year 7 to year 13. It opened a Sixth Form in the year of 2015. It is located on the site of Finchley Manorhill School, which was progressively closed in the late 1980s. The buildings were reopened as The Compton School in 1992. The school became a Beacon school in 1999, and was awarded Technology College status in 2001. It has recently become a training college as well. It has had three successive 'outstanding' OFSTED reports. Its exam results are satisfactory. In 2012 68% of the students achieved 5+ A*-C GCSE (and equivalent) including English and maths GCSEs. The school is also known for its links with Woodhouse College. Compton School is a proper comprehensive school, selecting solely on grounds of proximity to the school. Recently the school has undergone expansion, with millions of pounds invested in the buildings by the London Borough of Barnet.

The Church Farm Industrial School for Boys was a school in East Barnet, opened in 1860. The first superintendent was Lieut.-Col. Gillum. It once provided the choristers for the nearby church. Some of the buildings are now used as the Oakhill Campus of Mill Hill County High School, other parts as a leisure centre and others as housing. Several buildings in the grounds of the school are listed with Historic England.

St Mary the Virgin is the Church of England parish church for East Barnet within the Diocese of St Albans. It is located on Church Hill.

Christ Church New Southgate & Friern Barnet is a Baptist United Reform church in Friern Barnet, London. The building is grade II listed with Historic England.
