Ellerslie railway station

Ellerslie is a suburb of the city of Auckland, in the North Island of New Zealand. Ellerslie lies seven kilometres to the southeast of the city centre, close to State Highway 1. Administratively, Ellerslie forms part of the Ōrākei Local Board, which also includes the suburbs of Orakei, Mission Bay, Kohimarama, Saint Heliers, Glendowie, St Johns, Meadowbank and Remuera. To the west, Ellerslie borders on the One Tree Hill area and Cornwall Park. Largely a residential suburb, the area is arguably best-known as the site of Auckland's main horse-racing venue, Ellerslie Racecourse, as well as the original site of the Ellerslie Flower Show. (From 2008 the Flower Show moved to Christchurch in the South Island.)

Ellerslie School was founded in 1877, making it one of the oldest schools in Auckland, New Zealand. It is a Year 1 to Year 8 school. Ellerslie has a roll of 775 students (as of November 2022), with most students living in the Ellerslie/Greenlane area. Ellerslie School is in zone for One Tree Hill College. The current principal is Nick Butler.The Intermediate area of the school was upgraded in 2007, has a multi-purpose technology block and a state of the art music suite.

One Tree Hill College is a state coeducational secondary school located in the district of Ellerslie in Auckland, New Zealand. One Tree Hill College, formerly known as Penrose High School, opened on 1 February 1955. In 2019 it had a student body of 1160 consisting of more than 40 different cultures.The governing body for the college since 1989 has been the One Tree Hill College Board of Trustees. It provides curriculum, discipline and financial oversight but day-to-day management of the college, within the board's policy framework, is handled by the principal and the senior leadership team.

Carey Baptist College is a Bible and theological college for training in mission, ministry, and formation based in Auckland, New Zealand. It is the theological college of the Baptist Churches of New Zealand. The college was founded in 1924 as New Zealand Baptist Theological College. It held its first classes in 1926, originally training men to be ministers for Baptist churches in New Zealand. Its first principal was J.J. North. The college was renamed in 1992 to Carey Baptist College after the English Baptist missionary William Carey.

Michael Park School is a Waldorf school located in Auckland, New Zealand The founding of Michael Park School and Kindergarten arose out of a community vision for Rudolf Steiner education in Auckland which culminated in the school opening on the present site in 1979, beginning with a kindergarten and lower school classes. Today Michael Park is an integrated Area School, providing seamless education for students from Playgroup (children aged 2–3 years), Nursery (2½ - 4 years), Kindergarten (4–6 years), lower school (6–14 years) to high school (students aged 14–18 years). Ellerslie Racecourse is the main racecourse in Auckland, New Zealand, for thoroughbred racehorses. It is an undulating, grass circuit in the suburb of Ellerslie, with a circumference of just under 1,900 metres. Racing is conducted in a clockwise (right-handed) direction.

The Auckland meteorite, also known as the Ellerslie meteorite, landed in Ellerslie, a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand, on 12 June 2004. It crashed through the roof of a house and landed in the living room. As the ninth meteorite to ever be discovered in New Zealand, it is the only one to have ever hit a house in the country. It is owned by the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Ellerslie Racecourse railway station was a station on the first railway line in Auckland, New Zealand. The line ran between central Auckland and the suburb (and port) of Onehunga. It is called the Onehunga Line today, and is one of the four lines of the Auckland railway network. The platform provided access to the Ellerslie Racecourse. The racecourse was 4 miles (6.4 km) from the central station, and many race goers travelled by train, though as late as 1910 the journey was sometimes in open coal trucks and goods wagons because not enough passenger carriages were available.The station or platform opened in January 1874. There was a suggestion in January 1878 that it should move to Greenlane, but the Jockey Club did not agree. It was closed in September 1971. The surfaces of the two side platforms were removed long ago and they are now grassed over, but the concrete abutments facing the tracks are still extant.

Oranga is a small residential suburb in Auckland, New Zealand. It is located nine kilometres to the southeast of the city centre, between the commercial suburbs of Te Papapa and Penrose to the south and east, and the residential suburbs of One Tree Hill and Onehunga to the north and south. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of rising ground" for Ōranga.It used to be a state housing neighbourhood for low-income families, but it is rapidly gentrifying. Real estate agents increasingly advertise these houses as belonging to the wealthier suburb of One Tree Hill. Local facilities include Oranga Kindergarten (neighbouring Fergusson Domain), and Oranga School. The local secondary schools are One Tree Hill College, Marcellin College and Onehunga High School.

Remuera Intermediate School (R.I) is a school catering for 11 to 13 year olds in Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand. It was founded in 1954. The current principal of the school is Kyle Brewerton. The school's current student count consists of 867 students, however the roll number varies between 850 and 1000 each year.
