Mount Mourne Plantation is a former Southern plantation and historic house located in Mount Mourne, Iredell County, North Carolina. It was built in 1836, and is a two-story, five-bay transitional Federal / Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It features a hipped roof entrance portico with four fluted Tuscan order columns.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Mount Mourne is an unincorporated community in Iredell County, North Carolina, United States. Mount Mourne is located on North Carolina Highway 115, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) southwest of Mooresville. The Mount Mourne post office was originally established on April 5, 1805 with James Houston as postmaster. It has been in continuous operation since 1805 and currently has a ZIP code of 28123. The community was named by early settlers after Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland. Rufus Reid (1787-1854) built the Mount Mourne Plantation in Mount Mourne in 1836. It is still standing. In addition to Mount Mourne Plantation, the Centre Presbyterian Church, Session House and Cemeteries, Coddle Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Session House and Cemetery, George Houston House, and Wood Lawn are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Battle of Torrence's Tavern (also referred to as the Skirmish at Torrence's Tavern or the Battle at Tarrant's Tavern) was a minor engagement of the American Revolutionary War that took place in what was the western portion of Rowan County, North Carolina, approximately 10 miles (16 km) east of the Catawba River near modern-day Mooresville in Iredell County. Torrence's Tavern was a part of the larger Southern campaign of the American Revolution, which, by 1780–1781 involved a series of clashes between the British Army and Loyalist militia and the Continental Army and Patriot militia in the Piedmont region of North and South Carolina. The engagement took place on either February 1 or February 2, 1781 immediately following the Battle of Cowan's Ford, and resulted in a victory for General Daniel Morgan and a defeat for units under the command of Colonel Banastre Tarleton. The American victory served to demoralize Loyalist supporters in western North Carolina. General Nathanael Greene, commander of the Continental Army in the southern theater, moved his forces further east. This move allowed Greene to unite his army with several detached Patriot forces in the Piedmont prior to the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. After the conclusion of the war, the site of Torrence's Tavern was commemorated by two state and local historical markers.

Pine Lake Preparatory (PLP) is a public charter school located in Mooresville, North Carolina, educating students in grades K–12. PLP was founded in 2006 and started with Kindergarten, first, and second grades, and opened its doors to 1,300 students PLP's Upper School students (grades 9–12) choose a fine arts discipline (orchestra, band, visual art, theatre, or chorus) to study for their four years. In addition to the three schools, the campus includes a Fine Arts Building, Athletic and Community Center, and Science, Engineering, Technology and Math building, The school completed construction of a Grey and Navy blue turf football field in 2015. Students also must study Spanish every year, and the school offered an optional Spanish immersion program in Fall 2015.

The George Houston House, also known as the "Wall-Houston House", is a private historic home between Mooresville and Davidson, North Carolina in Iredell County that was built in 1818. The original portion of the home was built with log construction, and several later additions, including a 19th-century ell. In its nomination, the home's original Federal-style construction was noted as being highly representative of the idiosyncrasies found in home designs in Iredell County and the North Carolina Piedmont during the Federal era. The property on which the home sits also contains several historic outbuildings, including an early log barn.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Wood Lawn, also known as Woodlawn, is a plantation house built in 1836 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located near Mount Mourne, Iredell County, North Carolina 1-mile (1.6 km) north of Davidson, North Carolina, the house was built about 1840 and is an example of the Federal-Greek Revival style of architecture often built in the Piedmont area during this period. The house was built by Dr. George Washington Stinson, one of the first trustees of Davidson College, which was founded in 1837.

Woodlawn School is a private independent school in Mooresville, North Carolina in Iredell County, north of Davidson, North Carolina. Founded in 2002, it has 227 students in grades Pre-K through 12. The Head of School is Holly Honeycutt, who joined Woodlawn's staff in 2015. Woodlawn was accredited in 2009 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools and was re-accredited in 2014.

Mooresville is a town located in the southwestern section of Iredell County, North Carolina, United States, and is a part of the fast-growing Charlotte metropolitan area. The population was 50,193 at the 2020 census, making it the most populous municipality in Iredell County. It is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of Charlotte. Mooresville is best known as the home of many NASCAR racing teams and drivers, along with an IndyCar team and its drivers, as well as racing technology suppliers, which has earned the town the nickname "Race City USA". Also located in Mooresville is the corporate headquarters of Lowe's Corporation and Universal Technical Institute's NASCAR Technical Institute.

Community School of Davidson (CSD) is a public charter school located in Davidson, North Carolina. Their mascot is the Spartans. The school was founded by Joy Warner, the current Executive Director, and opened in 2001 as Children's Community School and adopted its current name in 2009. The school's founding principles center around The Basic School, and research done by Dr. Ernest Boyer. The school operates an elementary school, middle school, and high school on two separate campuses. Grades kindergarten through 7th "loop" with their teachers for 2 years. With both campuses combined, the student body is approximately 1,300 pupils, with about 100 per grade level. Each year, the random lottery that selects new families to attend CSD leaves over 3,000 students on the wait list for entry. When CSD originally started under the name Children's Community School in 2001, it was a secular private school out of Lake Norman Baptist Church in Huntersville, North Carolina. The school originally had only one kindergarten class, but it expanded by one grade over its first three years. In its fourth year, it became a charter school. With the school now having around 60 students, the directors decided that a new building was needed to accommodate the larger number of students, so they purchased the former Elox manufacturing facility in Davidson, NC. That building now houses the kindergarten through 7th grades, while the 8th through 12th grades reside about 1 mile up the road in a newer space. In the high school building, the 8th grade resides in a separate wing from the high school grades. CSD is known for its inclusion exceptional children's program, integration of the arts and its commitment to service. Students are engaged in service beginning in kindergarten and expand their service with a service-learning program called Practicum in 8th grade where there are 6–8 students in each group. They continue in high school by participating in service Fridays through the advisory program made up of small groups of 12–14 students per teacher. The arts program at CSD is an integral part of the curriculum. Students are exposed to a variety of arts classes, and many high school students choose a concentration for their 4 years. The theater program is notable for always having a show in rehearsal, performing 4 times yearly even through the summer months. The sports program and boosters are currently raising funds to build a Sports Complex for outdoor sports teams. The high school teams have won multiple state championships including 2 in women's soccer, 4 in women's volleyball, and women's cross country. The school also has multiple state Wells Fargo Cup wins noting a culmination of points among all school sports.

Davidson Historic District is a national historic district located at Davidson, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 394 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 2 contributing structures in the central business district and surrounding residential neighborhoods of Davidson and campus of Davidson College. It was developed after 1837 and includes notable examples of Italianate, Greek Revival, and Gothic Revival style architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed Eumenean Hall and Philanthropic Hall. Other notable buildings include the Maxwell Chambers Building, Jackson Row (1928), Helper Hotel (1848), Johnston Grocery Store (1912), Southern Railway Depot (1897), Linden Cotton Factory (1890), Delburg Cotton Mills (1908), Davidson United Methodist Church (1908), Davidson College Presbyterian Church (1951), and Carnegie Library (1909).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Davidson Township is a non-functioning administrative division of Iredell County, North Carolina, United States. By the requirements of the North Carolina Constitution of 1868, the counties were divided into townships, which included Davidson township as one of sixteen townships in Iredell County.

Mooresville Mill Village Historic District is a national historic district located at Mooresville, Iredell County, North Carolina. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
