Larkspur Landing, also known as Larkspur Ferry Terminal, is the main Golden Gate Ferry terminal in Larkspur, California, in Marin County, north of San Francisco. The terminal is a regional hub receiving heavy service from throughout the North Bay for commuter ferries south to downtown San Francisco.

Wood Island is a former island in Marin County, California, formerly in the Corte Madera Creek (upstream of San Francisco Bay) but now surrounded by land. Its coordinates are 37°56′37″N 122°30′42″W, and the United States Geological Survey measured its elevation as 13 ft (4.0 m) in 1981. It appears in a 1954 USGS map of the region. In the 1960s, its principal owner was Spero Spiliotis. In 1969, the city of Larkspur passed a resolution of intent to annex the island, and in the 1970s, a ferry terminal had been proposed.

Larkspur station is a Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) station in Larkspur, California. The terminal station opened to revenue service on December 14, 2019. It is located 1⁄3 mile (0.5 km) from the Larkspur Landing ferry terminal, across Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

San Quentin State Prison (SQ) is a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation state prison for men, located north of San Francisco in the unincorporated place of San Quentin in Marin County. Established in 1852, and opening in 1854, San Quentin is the oldest prison in California. The state's only death row for male inmates, the largest in the United States, is located at the prison. It has a gas chamber, but since 1996, executions at the prison have been carried out by lethal injection, though the prison has not performed an execution since 2006. The prison has been featured on film, radio drama, video, podcast, and television; is the subject of many books; has hosted concerts; and has housed many notorious inmates.

Richardson Island is a former island in San Francisco Bay, in northern California. While it was once surrounded by water and marsh (and appears as an island in maps surveyed in 1894), development of surrounding areas caused it to become completely surrounded by land by the mid-20th century. It is located in Marin County, in the city of Corte Madera.: 27  The United States Geological Survey (USGS) gave its elevation as 16 ft (4.9 m) in 1981. It is near the end of Corte Madera Creek, where it flows into San Francisco Bay.In 1885, it came into the possession of the Corte Madera Rancho del Presidio, one of the largest ranches in Marin County at the time. Its proprietors were sued by the United States in 1891, alleging that they had procured the island (among some 4,000 acres (1,600 ha) of land in the area) through a "false and fraudulent plot, alleged to have been made by field notes of an actual survey". In 1908, construction of railroad track for the Green Brae–Corte Madera cutoff involved workers cutting through the southeastern end of the island; by 1925, it had become part of the Keever estate. Henry Richardson, a member of the Amundsen polar expedition, was born on Richardson Island. By 1941, USGS maps show Richardson Island as completely connected to surrounding land; while the label "Richardson Island" was still shown at the location on a 1954 USGS map, by that point it was no longer an island.In 1950, the city of Corte Madera engaged in an "annexation war" with neighboring Larkspur; Richardson Island was one of several pieces of land Corte Madera attempted to annex. Of four tracts, one was approved by the city to be annexed by ordinance—the "Fifer-Moore addition", located on Richardson Island. Larkspur had previously attempted to block annexation of the island by "cutting it off" from Corte Madera. By 2009, the area previously occupied by Richardson Island was part of Corte Madera, and primarily zoned for mixed-use commercial, mixed-use gateway area, and public and semi-public facilities.: 27  It was classified under the "Fifer Avenue/Tamal Vista" community plan study area.: 43 

San Quentin (Spanish: San Quintín, meaning "St. Quentin") is a small unincorporated community in Marin County, California, United States. It is located west of Point San Quentin, at an elevation of 30 feet (9.1 meters).

The Village at Corte Madera is an upscale lifestyle center located in Corte Madera, California. It opened in September 1985 with department stores Macy's and Nordstrom, and is owned and operated by Macerich.

Simms Island is a former marsh island in San Francisco Bay. It is in Marin County, California; Its coordinates are 37°57′33″N 122°30′18″W, and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) gave its elevation as 13 ft (4.0 m) in 1981. It appears as an island on a USGS map in 1897; it is labeled in a 1954 map, but fully connected to the mainland.

Triangle Marsh is a wetland of the San Francisco Bay, situated at the base of Ring Mountain at the north end of the Tiburon Peninsula in Marin County, California.Archaeological Pecked curvilinear nucleated petroglyphs, and recovery on Ring Mountain, hold significant evidence of Native American habitation and likely proof that early Miwok peoples exploited marine resources from Triangle Marsh.The 31-acre (130,000 m2) property is owned by the Marin branch of the National Audubon Society who restored upland and wetland habitats there with funding from a variety of sources. Federal endangered species, including the clapper rail and salt marsh harvest mouse, live in the Marsh.

The Canal Area comprises two neighborhoods of San Rafael, California, designated by the city as the "Canal Waterfront" and the "Canal." The Canal Area is bounded on the east by San Francisco Bay, on the north by the San Rafael Canal and on the south and west by Highways 101 and I-580 and by San Quentin Ridge. Land use is split almost evenly between residential and non-residential (commercial/industrial) uses. The Canal Area provides a substantial portion of the low-income housing in Marin County, one of the most affluent counties in the United States, along with Marin City. It is also the location of transportation and waste management facilities serving Marin County and the North Bay.

Town Center Corte Madera is an upscale shopping center located in Corte Madera, California. It is located off U.S. Route 101 on Tamalpais Drive. It is anchored by a Safeway supermarket and Barnes & Noble. It is located across the freeway from The Village at Corte Madera and the two shopping centers provide much of the city of Corte Madera's income from retail sales tax. The Town Center is owned by 770 Tamalpais Drive, Inc. The owner of that corporation is Colliers.
