The Old Harbor Housing Project, later renamed the Mary Ellen McCormack Project, is a 27-acre housing project opposite Joe Moakley Park in South Boston, Massachusetts.

South Bay (previously South Bay Center) is a shopping center in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It is located off I-93, US 1, Route 3, near the transition from the Southeast Expressway to the Central Artery traveling through Downtown Boston. Begun as a strip-mall shopping center in 1998, it was proposed in 2015 that a major expansion of South Bay would result in construction of several six-story buildings containing up to 500 apartments, 200 hotel rooms, a cinema, and stores. Public officials from Dorchester said in 2015 they looked forward to a thorough community review of the plans and that the project appeared to present an exciting opportunity for the neighborhood. However, Councilor Frank Baker had significant concerns for neighbors regarding managing traffic around the expanded complex.

The South Boston Boat Clubs Historic District is a historic district consisting of clubhouse buildings at 1793–1849 William J. Day Boulevard in the South Boston neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The district includes four late-Victorian era clubhouses, which were built on "made land" created by filling in mudflats from nearby construction projects. The oldest of the buildings, that of the Boston Harbor Yacht Club, was built in 1898, but may contain elements as old as 1870, when the Boston Yacht Club was founded.The district listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The Old Colony Housing Project is a 16.7-acre public housing project located in South Boston, Massachusetts. First built in 1940 as a cluster of 22 three-story brick buildings housing 873 low-income units, it is one of the Boston Housing Authority's oldest developments.

The William Clapp House (1806) is a historic house located at 195 Boston Street, Dorchester, Massachusetts. It is the headquarters of the Dorchester Historical Society and contains many items from the society's collections, including 19th century furnishings and local historical items. It is one of two Clapp Houses owned by the society that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was built in 1806 for the marriage of William Clapp (March 3, 1779 - February 29, 1860), son of Capt. Lemuel and Rebecca (Dexter) Clap who built the nearby Captain Lemuel Clap House. The younger Clapp followed his father's business with the largest tannery in Dorchester. Later in life, Clapp devoted his time to his farm and the development of many varieties of pears. The most notable was Clapp's Favorite, developed in 1820 and marketed by 1860. It remains in wide commercial use today.

The Clapp Houses are historic houses in Boston, Massachusetts. They currently house the Dorchester Historic Society, and are open to the public as house museums. Portions of the Captain Lemuel Clap House may have been built as early as 1633 by Roger Clapp; it is known to that a house was on the site in that year. The house went through extensive changes in 1767, when it was expanded and renovated by Lemuel Clap. The William Clapp House was built in 1806 by Lemuel Clap's son William. The family operated a large Dorchester tannery.The property containing both houses was purchased by Dorchester Historical Society in 1945, and they were moved several hundred yards from Willow Court to their present locations in 1957. The houses were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Captain Lemuel Clap House (1767) is a historic house located at 199 Boston Street, Dorchester, Massachusetts. It is now owned by the Dorchester Historical Society, which opens the house for tours two afternoons per month. It is one of two Clapp Houses owned by the society that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It appears that a house has occupied this site since about 1633, and possibly today's house was its enlargement. Although there is no solid evidence for this possibility, the Clapp family genealogy records that such a first house was built circa 1633 by Roger Clapp, one of Dorchester's original settlers in 1630, and then rebuilt and enlarged by his descendant Lemuel Clap in 1767. On the other hand, the Historical Society also has evidence that the earlier house was built by the Ward family at the beginning of the 18th century. There seems little doubt, however, that today's house was substantially constructed by Lemuel Clap in 1767. The house was purchased by Historical Society in 1945, and moved several hundred yards from Willow Court to its current location in 1957. Its rooms currently contain items from the Society's historical collection. The houses of the Dorchester Historical Society are open on the second Sunday of the month from 11 am to 4 pm.

Saint Augustine Chapel and Cemetery is a historic church on Dorchester Street between West Sixth and Tudor Streets in the South Boston neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1818–19, it is the oldest Roman Catholic church building in Massachusetts; the cemetery, established 1818 is also the state's oldest Catholic cemetery. The Gothic Revival chapel was originally built as a crypt for the remains of Father François Matignon, the first Catholic priest to come to Boston from France. Father Dennis J. O'Donovan is also buried there. The chapel and cemetery were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The chapel is still in active, holding 4pm Mass on Saturdays.

The D Street projects, built in 1949 as the West Broadway Housing Development, are a housing project located in South Boston, Massachusetts. The D Street projects stretch 4 city blocks from West Broadway to West Seventh street and 3 city blocks from B street to D street, forming a perfect square. The land for the West Broadway Housing Development was cleared in 1941, and the project opened in 1949 with 972 units intended for white veteran families only. In 1962, upon receipt of a lawsuit filed by a civil rights group, the Boston city government under Mayor John F. Collins (1960–1968) desegregated the project. It was the first state development under Chapter 200 of the Massachusetts legislature's Acts and Resolves of 1948 to open and the only one built on a slum clearance site, having originally been planned as a privately financed project in 1934.It was one of the Boston projects which remained predominantly white well into the 1990s, despite a largely non-white waiting list for public housing. By the early 1980s, it was one of the most troubled projects in the city, and when Lewis "Harry" Spence was appointed receiver of the Boston Housing Authority, was chosen as one of the three demonstration projects for renovations. The plan, which won urban design awards, involved breaking up the 27-acre development into seven "villages" containing 675 apartments, reintroducing the street grid and replacing the original landscaping with courtyard spaces, and transforming the architecture by adding design elements such as pitched roofs, at a total estimated cost of over $60 million. Although the project is in a rough neighborhood, South Boston was rapidly gentrifying, and in 2000 the remaining quarter of the housing was instead turned over to redevelopment for mixed-income housing and businesses.

Newmarket is an MBTA Commuter Rail station in Boston, Massachusetts. It serves the Fairmount Line and has limited service on the Franklin Line. It is located off Massachusetts Avenue at Newmarket Square in the Dorchester neighborhood. The station has two 800-foot high-level platforms and sloping walkways connecting it to Massachusetts Avenue. Originally planned to be in service in 2011, it opened on July 1, 2013, along with Four Corners/Geneva station.

Widett Circle is a locale in Boston, Massachusetts that has long been used as a wholesale food market, but which has been proposed for several redevelopment projects. It is located between a bend in Interstate 93 and the MBTA rail yards, near the Massachusetts Avenue connector to I-93. Widett Circle was named for Attorney Harold Widett who was the Attorney for the meat packers union. Potential uses for the site include: an additional rail layover for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) a trash recycling and transfer facility a new 28,000-seat stadium for the New England Revolution soccer team, though the team's owners are reportedly focusing on a parcel just north of the circle. a floodable watershedThe current occupants have expressed concern that eminent domain proceedings might be used to take their businesses for other uses.

The South Bay Incinerator was a trash incinerator located in Roxbury, Massachusetts. It is currently the site of the Greater Boston Food Bank.
