Old Harbor Housing Project

Andrew station is a rapid transit station in Boston, Massachusetts. Located at Andrew Square in South Boston, it serves the MBTA Red Line and the MBTA bus system. Named for John Albion Andrew, the square is at the intersection of several major thoroughfares: Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester Street, Southampton Street, and Boston Street. Andrew is the primary transfer point between the Red Line subway and the MBTA surface bus routes into South Boston. Opened in 1918 and renovated in 1990–1994, it is fully accessible.

The Old Colony Housing Project is a 16.7-acre public housing project located in South Boston, Massachusetts. First built in 1940 as a cluster of 22 three-story brick buildings housing 873 low-income units, it is one of the Boston Housing Authority's oldest developments.

JFK/UMass station is a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) intermodal transfer station, located adjacent to the Columbia Point area of Dorchester, Boston, Massachusetts. It is served by the rapid transit Red Line; the Greenbush Line, Kingston/Plymouth Line, and Middleborough/Lakeville Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail system, and three MBTA bus routes. The station is named for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum and the University of Massachusetts Boston, both located nearby on Columbia Point. JFK/UMass station has four tracks and two island platforms for the Ashmont and Braintree branches of the Red Line, with one track and one side platform for Commuter Rail. A waiting room and fare lobby over the Red Line platforms is connected to Columbia Road, Sydney Street, and the busway on the east side of the station by footbridge. The station is fully accessible. North of the station, the complex Columbia Junction connects the two Red Line branches with the downtown tunnel and Cabot Yard lead tracks. The Old Colony Railroad first opened through the area in 1845, with Crescent Avenue station opened in 1868 and rebuilt in 1883. The Boston Elevated Railway began construction of Columbia station on the Dorchester Extension of the Cambridge–Dorchester Tunnel in 1925. Crescent Avenue station closed in July 1927; Columbia station opened on November 5, with an additional footbridge added in 1929. Columbia station was modernized in 1970, though without a platform for South Shore (Braintree Branch) service, which started in 1971. UMass Boston moved to Columbia Point in 1974, while the Kennedy Library opened in 1979; the station was renamed JFK/UMass in 1982. A 1987–88 renovation added a platform for the Braintree Branch. Commuter Rail service on the former Old Colony, last operated in 1959, resumed in 1997. However, the platform at JFK/UMass did not open until 2001.

The William Clapp House (1806) is a historic house located at 195 Boston Street, Dorchester, Massachusetts. It is the headquarters of the Dorchester Historical Society and contains many items from the society's collections, including 19th century furnishings and local historical items. It is one of two Clapp Houses owned by the society that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was built in 1806 for the marriage of William Clapp (March 3, 1779 - February 29, 1860), son of Capt. Lemuel and Rebecca (Dexter) Clap who built the nearby Captain Lemuel Clap House. The younger Clapp followed his father's business with the largest tannery in Dorchester. Later in life, Clapp devoted his time to his farm and the development of many varieties of pears. The most notable was Clapp's Favorite, developed in 1820 and marketed by 1860. It remains in wide commercial use today.

The Clapp Houses are historic houses in Boston, Massachusetts. They currently house the Dorchester Historic Society, and are open to the public as house museums. Portions of the Captain Lemuel Clap House may have been built as early as 1633 by Roger Clapp; it is known to that a house was on the site in that year. The house went through extensive changes in 1767, when it was expanded and renovated by Lemuel Clap. The William Clapp House was built in 1806 by Lemuel Clap's son William. The family operated a large Dorchester tannery.The property containing both houses was purchased by Dorchester Historical Society in 1945, and they were moved several hundred yards from Willow Court to their present locations in 1957. The houses were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Captain Lemuel Clap House (1767) is a historic house located at 199 Boston Street, Dorchester, Massachusetts. It is now owned by the Dorchester Historical Society, which opens the house for tours two afternoons per month. It is one of two Clapp Houses owned by the society that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It appears that a house has occupied this site since about 1633, and possibly today's house was its enlargement. Although there is no solid evidence for this possibility, the Clapp family genealogy records that such a first house was built circa 1633 by Roger Clapp, one of Dorchester's original settlers in 1630, and then rebuilt and enlarged by his descendant Lemuel Clap in 1767. On the other hand, the Historical Society also has evidence that the earlier house was built by the Ward family at the beginning of the 18th century. There seems little doubt, however, that today's house was substantially constructed by Lemuel Clap in 1767. The house was purchased by Historical Society in 1945, and moved several hundred yards from Willow Court to its current location in 1957. Its rooms currently contain items from the Society's historical collection. The houses of the Dorchester Historical Society are open on the second Sunday of the month from 11 am to 4 pm.

Carson Beach is a public beach in South Boston, Massachusetts. It has also been known as L Street Beach. It is maintained by the state's Department of Conservation and Recreation. The beach is a part of a three-mile segment of parks along the South Boston shoreline. The closest subway stop is the JFK/UMass station on the Red Line, approximately a half-mile away. In the mid-1990s, the beach's water quality was deemed unsafe due to sewage matter and other biological debris, and the beach had to be shut down. As of 2019, the water is usually approved for swimming. The beach was named after the winner of a city-sponsored swimming contest between the nearby Mosely and Carson Street Swim Clubs in Dorchester.

South Bay (previously South Bay Center) is a shopping center in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It is located off I-93, US 1, Route 3, near the transition from the Southeast Expressway to the Central Artery traveling through Downtown Boston. Begun as a strip-mall shopping center in 1998, it was proposed in 2015 that a major expansion of South Bay would result in construction of several six-story buildings containing up to 500 apartments, 200 hotel rooms, a cinema, and stores. Public officials from Dorchester said in 2015 they looked forward to a thorough community review of the plans and that the project appeared to present an exciting opportunity for the neighborhood. However, Councilor Frank Baker had significant concerns for neighbors regarding managing traffic around the expanded complex.

Edward Everett Square, in Dorchester, Boston, is the intersection of Columbia Road, Massachusetts Avenue, East Cottage Street and Boston Street, that was named in 1894 after a former governor of Massachusetts, Edward Everett, who was born near there.In 1995 efforts were undertaken by the local community to redevelop the square, with major milestones being completed in 2007. On June 16, 2007, Mayor Thomas M. Menino dedicated the new square marking the completion of the current phase of the project. The centerpiece of the project, a statue by Laura Baring-Gould of a giant Clapp Pear (a variety of pear that was developed in Dorchester in the nineteenth century) now sits at the corner of East Cottage Street and Columbia Road.

A statue of politician, diplomat, and orator Edward Everett by William Wetmore Story is installed in Boston's Richardson Park, in the U.S. state of Massachusetts.

The James Blake House is the oldest surviving house in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The house was built in 1661 and the date was confirmed by dendrochronology in 2007. Dorchester Atheneum. Retrieved on 2017-09-13. It is located at 735 Columbia Road, in Edward Everett Square, and just a block from Massachusetts Avenue. The Dorchester Historical Society now owns the building and tours are given on the third Sunday of the month.

Saint Augustine Chapel and Cemetery is a historic church on Dorchester Street between West Sixth and Tudor Streets in the South Boston neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1818–19, it is the oldest Roman Catholic church building in Massachusetts; the cemetery, established 1818 is also the state's oldest Catholic cemetery. The Gothic Revival chapel was originally built as a crypt for the remains of Father François Matignon, the first Catholic priest to come to Boston from France. Father Dennis J. O'Donovan is also buried there. The chapel and cemetery were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The chapel is still in active, holding 4pm Mass on Saturdays.
