The American Printing House for the Blind (APH) is an American non-for-profit corporation in Louisville, Kentucky, promoting independent living for people who are blind and visually impaired. For over 150 years APH has created unique products and services to support all aspects of daily life without sight.

The Kentucky School for the Blind is an educational facility for blind and visually impaired students from Kentucky who are aged up to 21. Bryce McLellan Patten founded the Kentucky Institution for the Education of the Blind in 1839 in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1842, it was chartered as the Kentucky Institution for the Blind by the state legislature as the third state-supported school for the blind established in the United States. In 1855, it moved to its present location on Frankfort Avenue in the Clifton neighborhood. About this time, it was renamed the Kentucky School for the Blind. Today, it continues its mission of teaching the blind and visually impaired students. The institution has inspired people to build other organizations to benefit those who are visually impaired.The school separated African-American students under de jure educational segregation in the United States until it desegregated circa 1954.The school is a member of Council of Schools for the Blind (COSB). The school has residential (dormitory) facilities.

On November 12, 2024, at around 3 p.m., an explosion at a manufacturing facility for food coloring in Louisville, Kentucky killed two people and injured 12 workers. Injured people, two of whom were in critical condition, were transported to University of Louisville Hospital and Baptist East Hospital. As of November 13, The cause of the explosion is not known.

Hadley Pottery is an American-based pottery and stoneware company started by Mary Alice Hadley and her husband George E. Hadley in 1945. It is located on Story Avenue in the Butchertown neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky.

Irish Hill is a neighborhood east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky USA. It is bounded by Baxter Avenue to the west, Lexington Road to the north, the middle fork of Beargrass Creek and I-64 to the east. Cave Hill Cemetery is located directly south of Irish Hill. It is in the inner Highlands area of Louisville.

Cave Hill Cemetery is a 296-acre (1.20 km2) Victorian era National Cemetery and arboretum located at Louisville, Kentucky. Its main entrance is on Baxter Avenue and there is a secondary one on Grinstead Drive. It is the largest cemetery by area and number of burials in Louisville. Cave Hill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Cave Hill National Cemetery, containing military graves, is also on the National Register, added in 1998.

WLGK (94.7 FM) is a worship music radio station in the Louisville, Kentucky, metropolitan area. It is owned by the Word Media Group. On December 22, 2016, Salem Media Group announced that it would hand operation of its Louisville radio stations, including WFIA-FM, to Word Broadcasting Network (also known as Word Media Group) under a time brokerage agreement. Word ended WFIA-FM's simulcast on WFIA (900 AM), with the AM station changing to a simulcast of Word's contemporary Christian station WJIE-FM. On February 10, 2020, Word Broadcasting announced that it would take advantage of the option in its agreement to acquire the stations from Salem for $4 million; the sale was completed on May 25, 2022.On August 7, 2023, WFIA-FM changed its format from Christian talk to worship music, branded as "94.7 The Sound"; new WLGK call letters went into effect on August 10. The format change again ended the station's simulcast with WFIA (900 AM); the "Sound" programming is simulcast in Fort Knox, Kentucky, on WLVK (105.5 FM), which had launched the format in February 2023 under a local marketing agreement.

WFIA is an AM radio station on 900 kHz in Louisville, Kentucky. WFIA is owned by Word Media Group through its subsidiary Word Broadcasting Network, Inc. WFIA airs a Christian talk and teaching format, and uses a brokered programming system where religious leaders pay for time on the station and use their programs to seek donations to their ministries. WFIA broadcasts with a daytime power of 930 watts. As 900 AM is a Mexican clear channel frequency, WFIA reduces power to 162 watts to avoid interference. Programming is also heard on FM translator W29BV at 107.3 MHz.

Eastern Cemetery is a 28-acre cemetery located at 641 Baxter Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky, United States, abutting Cave Hill Cemetery. It contains about 16,000 graves, though documentation for about 138,000 bodies. This imbalance is due to the cemetery formerly being a site for mass paupers' graves and from the reuse of grave sites.

Butchertown is a neighborhood just east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, United States, bounded by I-65, Main Street, I-71, Beargrass Creek and Mellwood Avenue. The Butchertown Historic District is a 50 acres (20 ha) part which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It includes the 1914-built Beaux Arts Stockyard Exchange Building designed by D.X. Murphy and Brother.

The Point was a thriving 19th century neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, east of Downtown Louisville and opposite Towhead Island along the Ohio River. It was also located north of the present day Butchertown area.
