WLGK (94.7 FM) is a worship music radio station in the Louisville, Kentucky, metropolitan area. It is owned by the Word Media Group. On December 22, 2016, Salem Media Group announced that it would hand operation of its Louisville radio stations, including WFIA-FM, to Word Broadcasting Network (also known as Word Media Group) under a time brokerage agreement. Word ended WFIA-FM's simulcast on WFIA (900 AM), with the AM station changing to a simulcast of Word's contemporary Christian station WJIE-FM. On February 10, 2020, Word Broadcasting announced that it would take advantage of the option in its agreement to acquire the stations from Salem for $4 million; the sale was completed on May 25, 2022.On August 7, 2023, WFIA-FM changed its format from Christian talk to worship music, branded as "94.7 The Sound"; new WLGK call letters went into effect on August 10. The format change again ended the station's simulcast with WFIA (900 AM); the "Sound" programming is simulcast in Fort Knox, Kentucky, on WLVK (105.5 FM), which had launched the format in February 2023 under a local marketing agreement.

Beargrass Creek is the name given to several forks of a creek in Jefferson County, Kentucky. The Beargrass Creek watershed is one of the largest in the county, draining over 60 square miles (160 km2). It is fairly small, with an average discharge of 103 cubic feet per second at River Road in Louisville.As the forks wind through the area that has become Louisville's East End, they have contributed to the geography that has shaped the area. The origin of the name "Beargrass" is not clear, though local stories abound and it was written as "Baregrass Creek" and "Bear Grass Creek" in early maps. Lyndon Lore states, "The name Beargrass was originally Bear Grasse, because the bears came to the creek for water and also for salt from the salt licks which were located near Salt River."The earliest settlements by Europeans in the area were built in the form of stations, or forts, along the banks of the creek. The three forks drain about 70 square miles (181 km2) of land, and occasionally flood. Following the construction of the U.S. Army base at Bowman Field in 1940, it was found that the area's limestone was causing septic tanks in Seneca Gardens to malfunction and wash raw waste into the creek. Wartime rationing, feuding, and price disputes with Louisville delayed correcting the problem until 1946.The three main branches are the South, Middle and Muddy Forks. They separate just east of Downtown Louisville. The South Fork runs through Butchertown and Germantown to west of Tyler Park, through the Poplar Level area (where the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve is located) and eventually the Fern Creek neighborhood. Eleven Jones Cave is located along this fork. The south fork originally ran through downtown, but was rerouted in the 1850s. The original route was turned into a sewer. In the 1920s, the stretch near Germantown was placed into a concrete channel. The current channelized state of the creek bed and Louisville's continued problems with Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) often leads to poor water quality in the creek. Following heavy rain events one should avoid contact with the creek if at all possible. The Beargrass Creek Alliance, a local volunteer watershed group of the Kentucky Waterways Alliance does outreach and projects to improve the quality of Beargrass Creek.The middle fork has two branches, called Weicher Creek and the Sinking Fork. Weicher Creek flows from the Hurstborne Area, and the Sinking Fork has its headwaters near Anchorage, Kentucky. They join in St. Matthews and flow through Cherokee Park until it meets the South Fork near the Bourbon Stockyards. The Muddy Fork rises at a stone springhouse in Windy Hills and runs parallel to the Ohio River and was rerouted during the construction of Interstate 71. Although used just for drainage and as a scenic feature by the 20th century, in pioneer days it was navigable and used for that purpose.

Robley Rex VA Medical Center

Robley Rex VA Medical Center is a hospital located in Louisville, Kentucky, and administered by the Veterans Health Administration, an agency of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The center is dedicated to the care of veterans of the United States military living in a 32-county service area in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The hospital first opened in 1952, with a construction cost of $8 million, almost double the original cost projection, and was built on the site of a former city reservoir on a hill above Zorn and Mellwood avenues, near the Ohio River. It replaced the Nichols U.S. Army General Hospital, the largest hospital in Louisville during World War II. Originally known only as the Louisville Veterans Hospital, the hospital was given its current name in 2010 to honor Robley Rex, a World War I-era veteran and VA volunteer. While the hospital originally opened as a full-service hospital with 494 beds, as of 2024 the facility is listed only as a short-term acute care facility with no staffed beds. In 2022, the hospital received Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) from the American College of Emergency Physicians, the highest possible rating. Current services offered include primary care, mental health care, specialty care, and social programs and services. In November 2021, ground was broken for a replacement VA hospital in Louisville. The new hospital, located on Brownsboro Road, just off of Interstate 264, is expected to have 104 beds, as well as a women's health clinic, at a projected cost of $840 million. Construction is expected to be complete by early 2026.
