Hickory Grove Christian School (HGCS) is a private, college-preparatory Christian school located in Charlotte, North Carolina and consists of an early education center, elementary school, middle school, and high school. It was founded in 1995 by the leadership of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Eastland Mall was a shopping mall in Charlotte, North Carolina. The center opened on July 30, 1975, as the then-largest mall in North Carolina with three anchor department stores, Belk, J.C. Penney, and Ivey's. A Sears, Roebuck and Company store joined four years later. The mall was owned by Glimcher Realty Trust and the City of Charlotte. Glimcher requested the mall be put into receivership due to heavy debt, and there were reports of the mall entering foreclosure. LNR sold the interior space in the mall to Boxer Properties of Houston for $2 million. It ceased operations on June 30, 2010, and was purchased by the city of Charlotte from Boxer Properties, and the owners of the vacant anchors in hopes of selling it to a developer. After its takeover, the mall was maintained by the city of Charlotte. By a 10–1 vote on May 28, 2013, the Charlotte city council formally voted to demolish the mall for $871,520, as possible developers stated they had no use for the building. A large percentage of materials were recycled or preserved, including the mall's four entrance signs which will become part of a public art exhibit. Demolition began on October 1, 2013. The Eastland Community Transit Center, a planned stop on the LYNX Rapid Transit Services Center City Corridor, is in the parking lot at the mall.

Independence High School (or, The Big I) is a high school in Mint Hill, North Carolina (with a Charlotte mailing address). The school mascot is the Patriots and the school colors are green and gold.

Eastland (also known as Eastland-Wilora Lake or Wilora Lake) is a neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. The area is named after the former eponymous mall, that was demolished in 2014. Eastland is almost seven and a half miles from Uptown, Charlotte.

Charlotte Islamic Academy (C.I.Academy) was the first Islamic institution established in Charlotte, North Carolina. The school opened in 1998 at the site of the Charlotte Islamic Center.After the September 11, 2001 attacks the school received threatening phone calls, forcing it to close for a week.In 2004, the school moved to a building owned by a local Presbyterian church after disagreements with the Islamic Center over control of religious education. There was some controversy amongst Presbyterians when Christian symbols were removed or covered, with the permission of the church.After the re-merger, the board of the new school changed its name to Charlotte Islamic Academy. The current principal is Mr. Azim Beg

Sheffield Park is an 8-acre urban park at 1300 Tarrington Avenue in the 1950's-early 1960's era established Neighborhood of Eastway Park/Sheffield Park Neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. It features a playground, a picnic shelter, and one court for each of tennis and basketball.Sheffield Park is adjacent to Evergreen Cemetery, and Evergreen Nature Preserve. Together these three parcels of Mecklenburg County and City of Charlotte owned land provide over 100 acres of woodlands within minutes of uptown Charlotte.

The Charlotte Museum of History is a history museum located in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Originally founded to be the steward of the 1774 Alexander Rock House, the museum has since expanded its scope to cover all periods of Charlotte's history with exhibits covering everything from the history of music in the city to the experiences of soldiers from Charlotte during the 1st World War.

The 1774 Alexander Rock House in Charlotte, North Carolina, US, is the oldest house in Mecklenburg County and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. Originally built by the Alexander Family who finished construction in 1774, the Rock House and its various outbuildings have had many owners over the years with The Charlotte Museum of History being its steward today.

White Oak Plantation, also known as the William Johnston House, is a historic plantation house located near Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was built about 1792, and is a two-story, Catawba River Valley School style brick dwelling. The original Quaker plan interior has been converted to a center hall plan. It has a gable roof overhang and a full-width, two-story gabled porch. It was built by William Johnston, a captain in the North Carolina militia at the Battle of King's Mountain in 1780.The plantation was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
