Federal Correctional Complex, Tucson

The United States Penitentiary, Tucson (USP Tucson) is a high-security United States federal prison for male inmates in Arizona. It is part of the Tucson Federal Correctional Complex (FCC Tucson) and is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. The facility also has a satellite prison camp for minimum-security male offenders. USP Tucson is located within Tucson's city limits, 10 miles (16 km) southeast of downtown Tucson.

The Federal Correctional Institution, Tucson (FCI Tucson) is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates with an administrative facility for male and female offenders. It is part of the Tucson Federal Correctional Complex (FCC Tucson) and operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. FCI Tucson is located within Tucson city limits, 10 miles (16 km) southeast of downtown Tucson.

Arizona State Prison Complex – Tucson is one of 13 prison facilities operated by the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC). ASPC–Tucson is located in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, 127 miles south from the state capital of Phoenix, Arizona. ASPC–Tucson prison had its beginnings as the Arizona Correctional Training Facility. Its first phase opened in January 1978 and it was fully open by August 1979, housing 384 non-violent male first offenders, aged 18–25. A separate unit held juvenile males convicted as adults, as it does today. The Santa Rita Unit was built in 1982, with the first inmates being received in July 1982. The 1986–87 building program established the 744-bed Cimarron Unit, creating the Tucson Complex, and added 200 beds to Echo Unit. The Rincon/Santa Rita/Units form a hub, which has buildings for inmate records, health services, maintenance, and a 40-cell central detention unit. ASPC–Tucson has an inmate capacity of approximately 4,358 in 7 housing units and 3 special housing units at security levels 2, 3, 4, and 5. The ADC uses a score classification system to assess inmates' appropriate custody and security level placement. The scores range from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest risk or need. ASPC-Tucson is a minimum to high security prison. In 2009, ASPC–Tucson Echo unit was demolished and a new unit is to be built for around 2,000 minimum custody 1–2 inmates.

The University of Arizona CPV Array is a 2.38 MWp (2.0 MWAC) concentrator photovoltaics (CPV) power station in Tucson, Arizona. It consists of 34 Amonix 7700 systems constructed in the Solar Zone of the University of Arizona's Science and Technology Park (UASTP). It uses all three of the methods available to increase efficiency: dual-axis tracking, Fresnel lens sunlight concentrators, and multi-junction cells. The annual electricity production is expected to be about 3.5 GW·h, and is being sold to Tucson Electric Power (TEP) under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

The Vail Academy and High School is a school located in the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park. It was founded in 1997 to accommodate the fast-growing community surrounding Vail. It previously served just high school students, but since then, it has become a K-12 school. The school mascot is the Boxer. Students must complete a senior exit project in order to graduate, as this is a requirement in the Vail Unified School District.

Littletown was a census-designated place (CDP) in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,010 at the 2000 census. The area was annexed into Tucson in 2017.

The Tucson Military Vehicle Museum, located in Tucson, Arizona, will be a 77 acres (31 ha) Military Vehicle Museum.

The Pima Air & Space Museum, located in Tucson, Arizona, is one of the world's largest non-government funded aerospace museums. The museum features a display of nearly 300 aircraft spread out over 80 acres (320,000 m²) on a campus occupying 127 acres (513,000 m²). It has also been the home to the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame since 1991.

Rankin is a populated place situated in Pima County, Arizona, United States, located approximately 10 miles east of Tucson. A former station on the Southern Pacific Railroad, the origin of the name is unknown. It has an estimated elevation of 2,785 feet (849 m) above sea level.

The Convair XC-99, AF Ser. No. 43-52436, was a prototype heavy cargo aircraft built by Convair for the United States Air Force. It was the largest piston-engined land-based transport aircraft ever built, and was developed from the Convair B-36 Peacemaker bomber, sharing the wings and some other structures with it. The first flight was on 24 November 1947 in San Diego, California, and after testing it was delivered to the Air Force on 26 May 1949. The Convair Model 37 was a planned civil passenger variant based on the XC-99 but was not built.

Desert View High School is a public high school located in southern Tucson, Arizona approximately 1 mile west of I-10 and Valencia Road.

The Boeing YAL-1 Airborne Laser Testbed (formerly Airborne Laser) weapons system was a megawatt-class chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL) mounted inside a modified military Boeing 747-400F. It was primarily designed as a missile defense system to destroy tactical ballistic missiles (TBMs) while in boost phase. The aircraft was designated YAL-1A in 2004 by the U.S. Department of Defense.The YAL-1 with a low-power laser was test-fired in flight at an airborne target in 2007. A high-energy laser was used to intercept a test target in January 2010, and the following month, successfully destroyed two test missiles. Funding for the program was cut in 2010 and the program was canceled in December 2011. It made its final flight on February 14, 2012, to Davis–Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, to be kept in storage at the "Boneyard" by the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group. It was ultimately scrapped in September 2014 after all usable parts were removed.
