Clark Pond is a freshwater pond in South Portland, Maine, United States. Located near The Maine Mall, it has given its name to Clarks (sic) Pond Parkway, which connects Gorham Road in the north to John Roberts Road in the south, and to the Clarks Pond shopping plaza. The pond, which contains a small island, is fed by Long Creek from the west. It empties out, on the pond's eastern side, eventually leading to the Fore River, about a mile to the northeast. Westbrook Street crosses Long Creek as it leaves Clark Pond to the east. The pond was historically used for recreational activities, as well as ice-production between the 1930s and 1950s.

Long Creek Youth Development Center (LCYDC) is Maine's only secure juvenile facility. Established by the Maine Legislature in 1853 as the Maine State Reform School for Boys, it is both a detention center and a correctional facility, run by the Maine Department of Corrections. Located on Westbrook Street in South Portland, adjacent to Portland International Jetport, it is named for the Long Creek tributary of the Fore River on which it stands. The school was built in 1853, to a design by Boston architect Gridley James Fox Bryant, who had a specialization in prison design. The Arthur R. Gould School, which is attended by its inmates, was added in 1921. The State Reform School was renamed the State School for Boys in 1903, then the Boys Training Center in 1959. After the girls' reformatory school, the Stevens School, was closed in 1976, its inmates were transferred to the Boys Training Center, at which point it was renamed the Maine Youth Center. It was given its current name in 2001. The facility received Accreditation Status in 2006. Severe staffing shortages were reported in 2022. The campus is part of the State Reform School Historic District.

Long Creek is a freshwater stream in southern Maine, United States. It is a tributary of the Fore River, into which it flows at South Portland, at the eastern edge of Portland International Jetport, via Clark Pond, directly south of Thompson's Point on the Portland side of the river. Its main branch is around 3.8 miles (6.1 km) long.It has five tributaries: South Branch, Blanchette Brook, North Branch, East Branch and the western tributary.

It is owned and operated by the City of Portland. A portion of the Jetport's property, including the main runway, is located within the neighboring city of South Portland. PWM covers 726 acres (293 ha) of land.The airport is the busiest in the state. In 2018, the jetport handled more than two million passengers for the first time, breaking the previous record of 1.86 million set in 2017.The Jetport has benefited from service by low-cost carriers such as Southwest Airlines and JetBlue, as well as Portland's increased popularity as a tourist destination. A survey conducted in June 2011 found PWM to be the most affordable airport in the region, and the third most affordable in New England.In October 2011, PWM completed a $75 million renovation and expansion of its terminal to allow more airline service and more amenities for passengers.In 2020, PWM received $4.5 million in federal funds to construct a 1,200 ft-long (370 m) taxiway connecting runways.

Owned and managed by Brookfield Properties, it is the largest shopping mall in the state of Maine, and the second-largest in northern New England, behind New Hampshire’s The Mall at Rockingham Park. Its anchor stores are Best Buy, JCPenney, Jordan's Furniture, Macy's, and Round One Entertainment, with two vacant anchors last occupied by Forever 21 and Sears.

Stroudwater Historic District is a historic district in the Stroudwater neighborhood of Portland, Maine. The district encompasses an important early village in the Portland area, significant as a shipbuilding and mill site established by Thomas Westbrook in 1727. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Stroudwater Falls is a manmade dam in Portland, Maine, dating to the 1850s. The dam is fed by the Stroudwater River which runs from Duck Pond, in Buxton, Maine, to the Fore River (Maine) in Portland. The dam, located near the Westbrook Street bridge, prevents tidal waters from the Fore River from flowing up the Stroudwater River’s channel. The dam was built in the 1850s for floating logs down the Stroudwater River to the Fore River, and was expanded in the 1900s for ice harvesting. The dam can store a maximum of 221,940 cubic meters of water, and its normal reservoir storage is 187,416 cubic meters, according to city records. The dam was damaged prior to 2012 when heavy rains washed debris down the river and it struck the dam.

The Stroudwater River is a 15.2-mile-long (24.5 km) river located mostly in Cumberland County, Maine. The river begins as a small stream at Duck Pond in Buxton and grows as it flows through Buxton, Gorham, Westbrook, and finally Portland before emptying into the Fore River at Stroudwater falls in Portland's Stroudwater neighborhood. Several smaller streams flow into the river in Buxton and Gorham, including Deering Brook, Gully Brook, Fogg Brook and Silver Brook. The Fore River Sanctuary, a nature preserve with footpaths and wooden bridges over wetlands, is located near the confluence of the Stroudwater and Fore rivers.

The Tate House is a historic house museum at 1270 Westbrook Street, near the Fore River in the Stroudwater neighborhood of Portland, Maine, United States. The house, one of the oldest in Portland, was built in 1755 for George Tate, a former Royal Navy captain who was sent by a contractor to the Navy to oversee the felling and shipment of trees for use as masts. Because of the house's comparatively remote location away from central Portland, it (along with a number of other homes that make up the Stroudwater Historic District) survived Portland's numerous fires intact. The house was designated a National Historic Landmark as a rare surviving example of a once-common colonial housing form, the clerestory gambrel roof. Since 1935 it has been a museum operated by the National Society of the Colonial Dames.
