First National Bank Building (Pensacola, Florida)

The U.S. Customs House and Post Office, also known as the Escambia County Courthouse, is a historic site in Pensacola, Florida. Built in 1887, it is located at 223 Palafox Place. On July 22, 1997, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Palafox Historic District (NR 14001085) comprises 129 properties in Pensacola, Florida. The district includes 100 contributing buildings, 28 non-contributing buildings, and 1 non-contributing site (Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza – due to age of site at time of the nomination). The National Register district, listed under the category Commerce/Trade, runs along Palafox Street and is bounded roughly on the north by Chase Street, on the south by Main Street, and extends to Spring Street on the west. The Palafox Historic District joins 38 other National Register of Historic Places listings in Escambia County, Florida.

The Saenger Theatre, also known as the Saenger Theater, is a historic theater in Pensacola, Florida. It is located at 118 South Palafox Place. On July 19, 1976, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.In 1989, the Saenger Theater was listed in A Guide to Florida's Historic Architecture, published by the University of Florida Press.

The American National Bank Building (also known as the Florida National Bank Building, the Seville Tower or Empire Building) is a historic bank in Pensacola, Florida, United States. On November 17, 1978, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It was designed by New York architect J. E. R. Carpenter.

The News Journal is owned by Gannett, a national media holding company that owns newspapers such as USA Today and the Arizona Republic, among others.

The Plaza Ferdinand VII is an outdoor garden and park in the Historic Pensacola Village area of downtown Pensacola, Florida. It is located on Palafox Street between Government and Zaragoza Streets. It was named after Ferdinand VII of Spain, the King of Spain between 1813 and 1833. A National Historic Landmark, it is the site of the formal transfer of Florida to United States jurisdiction in 1821.

West Florida (Spanish: Florida Occidental) was a region on the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico that underwent several boundary and sovereignty changes during its history. Great Britain established West and East Florida in 1763 out of land acquired from France and Spain after the Seven Years' War. As its name suggests, it was formed out of the western part of former Spanish Florida (East Florida formed the eastern part, with the Apalachicola River as the border), along with land taken from French Louisiana. Pensacola became West Florida's capital. The colony included about two thirds of what is now the Florida panhandle, as well as parts of the modern U.S. states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. As the newly acquired territory was too large to govern from one administrative center, the British divided it into two new colonies separated by the Apalachicola River. British West Florida included the part of former Spanish Florida, which lay west of the Apalachicola, as well as parts of former French Louisiana. Its government was based in Pensacola. West Florida thus encompassed all territory between the Mississippi and Apalachicola Rivers, with a northern boundary which shifted several times over the subsequent years. Both West and East Florida remained loyal to the British crown during the American Revolution, and served as havens for Tories fleeing from the Thirteen Colonies. Spain invaded West Florida and captured Pensacola in 1781, and after the war Britain ceded both Floridas to Spain. However, the lack of defined boundaries led to a series of border disputes between Spanish West Florida and the fledgling United States known as the West Florida Controversy. Because of disagreements with the Spanish government, American and English settlers between the Mississippi and Perdido rivers declared that area as the independent Republic of West Florida in 1810. No part of that short-lived republic lay within the borders of the modern U.S. state of Florida; rather, it comprised the Florida parishes of today's Louisiana. Within months it was annexed by the United States, which claimed the region as part of the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. In 1819, the United States negotiated the purchase of the remainder of West Florida and all of East Florida in the Adams–Onís Treaty, and in 1822 both were merged into the Florida Territory.

The Lavalle House (also known as the Charles Lavalle House) is a historic house located at 203 East Church Street in Pensacola, Florida. Built in 1805, the Charles Lavalle House is part of Historic Pensacola Village, and features a French Creole period style. It is one of the oldest houses in Pensacola and one of the few structures that remain from Spanish Florida.On March 11, 1971, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places for its Gulf Coast architectural style.

The Blount Building is an historic seven-story Chicago school style office building located at 3 West Garden St., SW corner of Palafox St., Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. It was built by Charles Hill Turner in 1906-1907 for local attorney William Alexander Blount on the site of the three-story Blount-Watson Building, which had burned on Halloween night in 1905. The building features so-called Chicago windows and contains in its exterior the contain the three parts of a classical column, with the first and second floors being the base of the column, the third through sixth floors the shaft and the seventh floor the capital. The first floor exterior has been changed over the years reflect different retail needs, but the exterior of the upper floors remains intact. In 1989, the Blount Building was listed in A Guide to Florida's Historic Architecture, published by the University of Florida Press, which described it as a "Fine example of turn-of-the-century commercial architecture in Pensacola.".In 2015 a group of local investors, led by Bobby Switzer, purchased the Blount building, the attached Brent building, and the majority of the adjacent buildings. The group of buildings subsequently underwent extensive renovation, adding significantly to the revitalization effort in downtown Pensacola.

St. Joseph Catholic Church (also known as the St. Joseph's Church Buildings or the St. Joseph's Complex) is a historic Black Catholic parish in Pensacola, Florida. On July 10, 1979, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Pensacola City Hall is located at 222 West Main Street in Pensacola, Florida, and houses the majority of the offices for the City of Pensacola government. The building faces Pensacola Bay and suffered heavy damage from Hurricane Ivan in 2004, reopening in 2006 after an extensive remodeling process. Meetings of the Pensacola City Council are held in the Council Chambers on the first floor.

The United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida (in case citations, N.D. Fla.) is a federal court in the Eleventh Circuit (except for patent claims and claims against the U.S. government under the Tucker Act, which are appealed to the Federal Circuit). The District was established on February 23, 1847, with the division of the state into a Northern and Southern district. As of December 26, 2021 the United States attorney for the District is Jason R. Coody.
